Located in a quiet, ocean-front, gated community with easy accessibility to Kapoho Bay and the ocean. For your swimming and snorkeling pleasure, this two-bedroom cottage is situated on a crystal-clear, geo-thermally heated tidal lagoon. The water is a mix of heated, fresh spring water and sea water, and the temp is usually a wonderfully comfortable 90 degrees.
There's a private-line phone, satellite TV and a VCR, a computer hookup,a charcoal barbecue, and a spacious lanai.
The Lagoon Cottage is a small house (about 750 sq. ft.), but has two bedrooms, one bath,a nice kitchen and a small-but-comfortable living room. The Main Attraction at this vacation home is the indescribably beautiful and always inviting, crystal-clear lagoon! Just a few steps across the road will take you to the famous CHAMPAGNE POND.
This is a strictly non-smoking vacation home!

Where else in the world can you have your own snorkel ready geothermal brackish water tide pool at your front door, and stay on land that's probably younger than you are? The location alone is worth the cost. Other than the Coqui frogs (music to the ears of some), quiet and peaceful. The cleanest air and clearest sky you''ll see anywhere in HI at sea level. Champagne Pond is literally across the street. An added bonus to this part of The Big is plenty of 4WD opportunity. As for the rental, amenities are as advertised (photos on VRBO, description, etc), and everything worked (except TV Sat coverage was intermittent). Location is great for exploring Puna and Kau, and about 30 minutes from Volcano NP. About 40 minutes to Hilo. If you are the type of person who wants to be kama'aina, runs from resorts, cruises, hotels, or any type of organized "tourist" activity, and visits the HI every chance you get, this would be a good choice if you want to stay in the Puna District. It rained every day I was there (well, it is the wet side of the island after all), and except for not being able to find locals willing to take me along on a Boar hunt, it was perfect!
Recommended for:Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
