7 year of rental and only exceptionally happy guests .75% of guests are repeat guests, some come 3 to 4 times a year so we must be doing something right . Come experience our little piece of heaven
This is one of the best locations on Folly. On the tidal marsh across the street from the beach. See the ocean from your front screened porch, living room, and kitchen. Get an amazing sunset view of the marshes from your king-size bed or back screened porch. Topping this off literally is the roof top deck with its panoramic views of the whole of Folly as well as the ocean.
This is the ideal vacation home for a smaller family or group. Perfect for those who do not like condominium living yet do not want the expense of one of the islands larger homes.
This totally refurbished interior is a delight. All new stainless steel appliances in a wonderful, blue, distressed kitchen bring the sea right indoors as you cook. All new furnishings in the bright colors of the Caribbean put together by our favorite designer in the style of 'Main Cottage.' Blending this all together is a dog-friendly theme from our custom, dog-proof floor cloths to 'Blue Dog' prints mixed with antique black and white beach and fishing photos.
This home has a large, furnished, , front porch, a large living/dining area (with a fully-sprung, new mattress on futon). A well-stocked, remodeled kitchen (everything new and bright and fun down to last teacup!). There is a queen-size bedroom and the king-size bedroom which has its own bath also has access to the rear screened porch and views of the marsh. The second bathroom also has laundry facilities tucked away behind doors.
This is a full-service rental, all high quality, 300-thread-count sheets, soft luxurious towels are available for your use. We provide luxurious soap products and paper products unlike most of the other rentals on the island. We welcome your dogs if they are well behaved and you are not even charged a pet fee! You also have the free use of our 2 kayaks from our back yard dock. what more could you want from a holiday home?

We just returned from a week at the perfect beach cottage. We are extremely impressed with the amenities that made the house feel so homey. This place is all about the details; the kitchen was the best stocked kitchen we’ve seen, the sheets and towels are so soft, nice colorful beach towels and beach chairs, shampoo, conditioner and even an “emergency kit” that really came in handy when we forgot the aloe Vera! The owner was extremely responsive to questions and needs. This house is made for relaxing and when not walking the beach, we watched the rain from the front porch rocking chairs. We had little motivation to go out however we did enjoy a little crepe stand, “Tokyo Crepes” for a great late night dessert and you can’t visit Folly without breakfast at the Lost Dog. Whether you are driving or traveling by plane, the perfect beach cottage will feel like home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We come back to this wonderful cottage every spring, and cannot say enough good things about it. Perfect for two adults and our two little old dogs, beautiful setting, every amenity thought about by a really great owner. This year the weather was bizarre (colder than usual, some cloudy and very windy days, huge surf that limited beach walking for a couple of days). And it did not matter a bit. We'd walk on the beach across the street when we could, eat every day at our favorite restaurant in town (Crab Shack), and enjoy nearby Charleston when it wasn't so great outside. We even took the Charleston Harbor Tour on one of the windiest, cloudy days and had the best time with a whole boatful of other brave folks. We feel so at home here and hope to come back again next year.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Unleashed was perfect for us, a newly retired couple with two sweet labs. Thoughtfully appointed for dogs and humans, it has comfortable beds, numerous porches (sunset everyday on the roof was our favorite), darling decor right down to the dishes, and plenty of sharp knives, good pots, beach toys, hot showers. There is no creek at low tide and no beach at high tide, but since one can't be two places at once, there is always a great spot on the water. We also loved the Lost Dog Cafe.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners.

This was my first time at the beach (and my sister's too). At first sight, we did not know what to make of those frothy moving waves that came right for us, But we learned to play chicken with them and then to get our paws wet! It was such fun! My mom said my nickname could change from the "Dustman" to the "Sandman" after my week on the beach. After my first morning walk on the beach, I'd wait by my leash each day to ensure mom would take me again. Yep, me and my sisters Lady and Kara wanted to say thanks for renting so dogs can stay too. It meant a lot to be included and we loved to check things out from the front and back porches. We kept an eye on things as our way of thanking for being dog friendly. Mom and Dad told us we can come back. I miss the beach walks already with all those new smells and I met some new doggy friends too. So thanks again, Dusty the Doggie spokes writerRecommended for: Pet owners.

Everything is just as pictured and as described in the listing. Beach cottage chic. The place was immaculate and you would never know it was a pet friendly rental. (no dog hair or odors) The king bed was the most comfortable bed (besides my own!) I have ever slept in. All the furnishings and amenities were top notch. No broken down, worn out, or miss matched decor. The owner was wonderful to work with and the pre-instructions she provided were very helpful. We got up every morning to walk down to the beach to capture the spectacular sunrises and star gazed from the upper deck at night. We drove to the Caw Caw Interpretive Center (maybe an hour or less?) and had a wonderful walk through their many trails. I highly recommend this lovely rental. Only warmer weather would have made it better. Who knew we'd be there during a cold snap?Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

We celebrated my birthday at this cute, adorable, clean little cottage. It had everything we needed. Adorable colors and decorations to ensure you have that island feel! The owners thought of everything so you feel like you're at your home. Very convenient to town-in fact we walked the beach to the pier for lunch. Close to the lighthouse too.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Our stay at the "Perfect Beach Cottage " was great!!! The cottage was just as advertised. The cottage was clean, well maintained and convient to the beach access. My dog Alpine and I enjoyed long walks on the beach and my husband and I took a walk to the famous Folly light house . Also the cottage was convient to historic Charleston and a short drive to Charleston plantations and the Angel Oak tree. We have stayed at many VBRO properties; this is one of the best dog friendly vacation rentals with no extra pet fee. Would stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners.

My husband, another couple and I stayed at the cottage in the middle of December at Folly Beach. It was clean, furnished cute, and the owners provided us with all the amenities that many other places might not have right down to the shampoo and bath towels. My only complaint would be that the floors were uneven in certain spots and I think someone with a mobility problem could have some safety issues with it. The front porch was our favorite. You could even see and hear the ocean from there and many breakfasts were eaten there. The owners were so easy to work with and we were provided with clear information and response time to my questions was beyond fast! I would stay here again and look forward to my next trip to Charleston and Folly Beach.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind response. As our home is elevated and up a flight of steps like many on Folly we never recommend it for anyone with mobility issues anyhow. I am glad you enjoyed your time on Folly, with regards Leonie

Our week at this property was perfect! We loved the dog theme and all the extra touches such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dish and laundry detergent etc... The back yard dock was a lot of fun and we caught a few crabs and a few fish. Access to the beach was just a few doors down. Our Scottish Terrier, Heidi, loved sitting on the front porch and watching the waves from across the road as well as the occasional biker and jogger. She was very sad to leave as were we. Thank you Leonie for such a great experience and letting us stay at the cottage!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

If I had a beach house it would be exactly like this one. Such easy beach access. The pictures and description are spot-on. The house could not be cleaner or more comfortable, and we really appreciated all the amenities. I've rented beach houses many times and this one had lots of unexpected extras. It was like staying at a friend's house. Would definitely return and recommend to friends. Thank you for your attention to detail - it shows. Also, the deposit was returned even before I had a chance to think about it!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: My husband I were born in Ireland and are living in the US for almost 20 years. We are proud be be US citizens. Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
We had a vacation home in a quaint village in Ireland with great atmosphere but close to a larger town .We spent 3 years searching every beach resort in Ga and SC and NC to find somewhere similar and finally there was Folly better than we even wished for.Why did it take us so long?
