This lovely apartment is exactly as advertised. It is bright, spacious, open and in a superb location. We had only six nights and could easily have spent more time. Having read a handful of guides and getting recommendations from friends, we found all of guides we had viewed in the apartment. Felipe has also made a great personal guide to Lisboa with excellent recommendations. Day trips in and out of the city to Cascais, Sintra and across the Tagus for lunch at Ponto Final were all memorable and easily accessed from the apartment. Felipe was a gracious host and all went very smoothly. It was a great first taste of Portugal and we will travel here again. Bob H.

We were very pleased with this apartment in the heart of Chiado. Easy access to transportation, GREAT restaurants and amazing shopping. The apartment is very clean and even though on a very busy street we found sleeping no problem. There is a nice grocery store just down the street. We would definately recommend this apartment and would love to come back some day.

This apartment is a great for exploring all the main attractions of Lisbon on foot (except for Belem). It really is as described, located on a pedestrian shopping street Rua do Carmo, 50 meters from the elevator de Santa Justa (major attraction) with all the shops including supermarkets nearby. The apartment and the building are perfectly clean and safe. The owner, Filipe, is very helpful and accomodating, he even has his own tour guide for Lisbon with great restaurant and store recommendations. I would definitely recommend this place to others. The only downsides of the apartment are: 1. It's difficult to get there by car especially if you don't know the area since all the adjasent streets are one-way and busy with shoppers. Leave the car someplace else, you don't need it in Lisbon. 2. One of the smaller beds was a litle uncomfortable, no big deal if you drink enough Port. Enjoy it. Thanks again, Filipe

The location is perfect...right in the middle of the Chiado and adjacent to Barrio Alto. It is close to absolutely anything: all the fabulous local restaurants, bakeries and shops and right across the street from Armazenz do Chiado for those needing a mall fix or a Starbucks. For the gardeners reading this, we highly recommend the Cafe ’Royale for both its food and the wonderful vertical garden on the outdoor seating area. As far as the apartment itself, we loved it! The building is over 150 years old; however, the apartment is totally upgraded with all the modern conveniences while maintaining the character of the old world. The living areas are huge and nicely furnished with very high ceilings and huge windows to let in light and air, yet double-paned to keep the noise of the city out at night. We, however, enjoyed opening up all the windows in the living and dining rooms to let the sunshine and sounds of the city surround us until evening. The kitchen is fully equipped and modern with a clothes washing machine for quick laundry touch ups. The bedrooms are a nice size and air-conditioned for comfort and again, with double –paned windows, very quiet for sleeping. We enjoyed the place so much that we have already recommended it to several people and are making plans for a return trip for a longer stay! Obrigato Filipe!

Perfect Apartment

This apartment was in a fantastic, central location in Lisbon on a beautiful street. We had easy access to all of the sightseeing activities, restaurants and bars that we wanted to visit. Many activities were within walking distance and we felt like locals every time we went in and out of the building. Filipe's father met us to check-in. He was very friendly and charming, and the process was quick and easy. The apartment was very clean and had more than enough linens and all of the necessary kitchen supplies. Filipe's personal Lisbon guide was very helpful and we also appreciated the simple language books that were available to borrow on the bookshelf in the living room. We would recommend traveling to Lisbon, and in particular, staying at this apartment to everyone!

Right in the heart of Lisbon

This apartment is as close to perfect as you can get! It is located on a beautiful cobble-stone street right in the heart of the Chiado area with great shops and restaurants right at your doorstep (there is even a new gelato shop just next door, which opened on our second last day - perfect for dessert!). While it is centrally located there is no problem with security or noise as the apartment is in a secure building. It is within walking distance to some of the most famous sites in Lisbon. Alternatively, you could take a tram or short taxi ride, again these are just close by. The apartment itself is really spacious and we all felt we could have our own space - lounge area, dining, study desk, kitchen, 2 separate bedrooms. Everything you need to have a comfortable stay is provided from the basic cutlery, crockery and towels to thoughtful inclusions like travel books, music and candles. Fillipe was very welcoming and made sure we were comfortable on our arrival. We would have no problems recommending this apartment and the professional way it is managed.

I stayed in the apartment last week with two friends and we couldn't have been more pleased. The location is superb. One can walk easily to the Commercio or the Rossio. A variety of Restaurants and Cafes are found in every direction and during the day, cabs are available just a few steps from the door. While we chose not to cook, we found this apartment better equipped than many others we have rented in the past. Best of all Felipe is available by e mail to offer advice and answer questions. He recommended an evening at Senior Vinto, a Fado restaurant that became one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you, Felipe!

My third stay in Filipe's apartment just ended and I miss it already. To hang out the window and be entertained by fabulous Fado, balloon magicians, or the occasional learner-flute player, is in itself fantastic. But how everything is within reach, incl. Health food supermarket and Lisbon's only Homeopathic pharmacy makes this the spot to be. Looking up to see clouds fly over the Moorish castle, Sao Jorge and down to the sometimes white- capped Tejo River are pure treats in a town where the streets can 'eat you up'--in a good way. I'm coming back.

The Chiado apartment exceeded our high expectations. As previous guests noted, the apartment is spacious, functional, bright, well decorated and well situated. There's not much I can think of to add except to advise my compatriots who love Europe but are discouraged by the weak dollar that Lisbon is surprisingly affordable, particularly the many excellent Portuguese wines - and not just Porto and Madeira - which cost a fraction of similar French and California vintages.

what a joy to wake up in this apartment - light flooding into the living room and dining rooms! (the bedrooms are dark if you want that) . the space is huge and perfectly clean and so very well equipped - right down to a fabulous library of portuguese music. and it's so much fun to look down at the people on the streetfrom the windows - best people- watching ever! i only wish we had had more time to explore lisbon from this great location. . . hopefully again soon.

Diese außergewöhnliche Wohnung hat unsere Studienreise perfekt abgerundet. 5 Sterne plus für diese tolle Wohnung !!! Mittlerweile wohnten wir das 3. Mal hier und konnten uns an Lissabon kaum sattsehen, toller Blick aus dem Wohnzimmer, vor allem abends wenn die Burg angestrahlt wird...sehr romantisch...Es hat an nichts gefehlt,... der private Reiseführer war ein Hit : Geheimtip :Restaurant Luca unbedingt ausprobieren! Die Wohnung liegt perfekt in der Altstadt und ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Die Ausstattung war überdurchschnittlich gut, u.a. mit Laptop und Mobile für Prepaid-Karte und die Wohnung war sehr sauber. The apartment is great. There's easy access to the metro and the 28 tram. There's also a lot to see within walking distance, as well as cafes, stores, supermarket. The view is incredile, it was always fun to be upstairs watching people at Rua do Carmo. The light that comes in the morning is great. A great find, I know where I'm staying next time in Lisbon.

Our second stay in this beautiful, specious apartment– first stay was 3 weeks and second 4 weeks. Windows flood the main spaces with light including the large separate dining room. The central location offers access to many squares, shopping and interesting places to visit. There is easy access to the excellent Metro system. Filipe is very approachable and helpful. Highly recommended.

Filipe provided us with a wonderful apartment for our stay over Christmas. We stay in apartments regularly and this is the best ever. It had all the extra little touches included - everthing from maps, suggestions, cooking ingredients...... The location is fantastic, the apartment is very clean, big and had lots of extra little touches not usually provided. Filipe met us at the apartment and was warm and friendly and even phoned during the week to offer help if needed. It was a wonderful place to stay - we highly recommend it.

What a wonderful find! My wife and I spent a fabulous week at The Chaido apartment of Filipe de Faria over the Thanksgiving Holiday. My brother and his wife joined us. We had perfect weather for the entire week. We wandered the city, visiting many museums, shops and restaurants. Our day trip to the Palace at Sintra was a highlight. Apartment could not be more perfect. Everything we needed was there, even a cell phone waiting for a SIM card. Washer/dryer, spices and condiments, Fado music and a DVD! The location in the heart of the old city was very convenient. And all for half the price of a nice hotel. We will be back. Barbara and Jim Stowe

We enjoyed our 2 weeks in the Chiado apartment. The apartment is very bright and has a wonderful view of the castle; we especially enjoyed the view while dining in the evening. Most of all, I could not think of a better location for a stay in Lisbon. We walked every day, to sites and city neighborhoods exploring on foot. Of course we enjoyed the historic trolley and the metro is conveniently located for touring further afield. Philipe took care of our every need, including excellent guidebooks and recommendations in the area. I would highly recommend a stay in this apartment!

Re our week stay in late January 07 in the Chiado apartment, we felt very safe, the apartment is spacious and comfortable and very clean and quiet. You could not have a better location for just walking out and into all the interesting areas of Lisbon for daytime sightseeing and shopping or evening and nighttime drinks and wonderful dining. The subway is across the street and the tram around the corner for when your legs give out. The owner is a true gentleman and very helpful and accomodating. There is no better place in Lisbon than this flat. The lovely restoration of Alvaro Siza is splendid and to stay here is a true pivilige. The light that comes in every day is pure magic as is the people watching from the windows and the lit castle at night.

We had a wonderful time in Lisbon celebrating our 50th birthdays and our stay in the Chiado Apartment made it even more special. With beautiful views over the city, centrally located for all the major sights and for chilling out in the local cafes, the apartment makes an ideal holiday home. This apartment is perfect for a stay in Lisbon. It has an ideal location on a pedestrian street in the nicest part of the historic centre (Chiado), just a few steps away from the Rossio, the Baixa or the Bairro alto. The building is modern and elegant with elevators, rebuilt in the original 18th century style some 10-15 years ago. The apartment has high ceilings, tall windows with view of the castle hill, lots of light and sence of space, tasteful decoration, beautiful stone floors, comfortable furniture and is equipped with all you need - including fado CDs. We felt privileged to live in such a place, were enjoying every minute and are already longing to come back. Highly recommended.

My wife and I had a piece of luck that unfortunately no one else is likely to have - we found this flat when if first came on the market and rented it for three months. It is outstanding for a stay of any length, and Filipe is an exemplary landlord. No matter why you are coming to Lisbon, this place will be suitable and the pictures don't do it justice. Check out the suggestions my wife and I made in the guest book. And no - I'm not related to Filipe. Wish I was. He might let me stay for free sometime ;)
