For affordable luxury fronting a sandy beach, stay in our summer home on the northeast shore of Prince Edward Island (PEI). You will get more for your money because it is fully and beautifully furnished for our enjoyment and YOURS! Plus it has amenities not usual in purely rental properties. For one thing, our kitchen is set up for serious cooking, although upscale and down-home restaurants abound within 10 to 30 minutes.

As beautiful and comfortable as our furnishings are, the beach view through the picture windows that front the ocean is among the most beautiful on PEI. Sit on the spacious deck, swinging on the loveseat, and look directly across the water to the only parabolic dunes in North America. Then look to your left down the miles-long, white sand beach with its own dunes and the warmest, safest swimming north of New Jersey. The gentling influence of the Gulf of St Lawrence and the sandbars that trap pools of water to warm in the sun have earned PEI the name Caribbean of the North Atlantic. Finally, look to your right to see St. Peter's Harbour with its row of sea shanties and its fresh seafood market that will spoil you for your back-home markets advertising "catch of the day."

Venture out during the day to hike, bike, swim, fish, kayak, golf, horseback ride, or take in the sights, including picturesque villages with arts, crafts, and antique shops. Or take the kids to museums and attractions, including the Anne of Green Gables tour. In the evening attend traditional entertainments, such as Celtic music and theatre.

At night cool sea breezes and the sound of surf will lull you to sleep. (PEI is air conditioned by the Gulf of St. Lawrence.) In morning the grass is wet with dew. (PEI's newspaper boasts in its banner, "We cover the island like the dew.") But the summer sun soon burns it off, and it is hot enough for a swim.

This is a special island, where time turns back to a simpler, more relaxed way of life, and our home is one of the best vantage points from which to enjoy it in comfort.
