Bend Oregon Townhome. Walk to the Old Mill District
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose Bend
Bend is in a wonderfully scenic area, with lots of outdoor activities, both in summer and winter. It is also growing, and properties are appreciating as more and more people recognize the advantages of the location. We also have very close friends in the area, who do ranching and farming, enjoy outdoor sports and are great fun to be with.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome
Where we live overseas, we are constantly involved with people... When we stay in Bend, we appreciate the solitude, having everything we need at our fingertips, the air conditioning and the hot tub! After we bought the house, we stayed a few weeks getting it set up as a vacation rental. The previous owner asked us if it felt like home yet... We said no, it just feels like we are staying some place really, really nice! For us, it is a great place to relax, enjoy each other and recharge.
Owner's Map of Bend
We sold our family home where we raised seven children and purchased this vacation rental in 2004. We have been doing volunteer work in the Philippines for over 20 years and we live there permanently now. We love our work, but we really look forward to seeing our friends in Bend and having a short stay in the townhouse when we come back to visit.

My husband and I brought his parents here for two nights to see Bend and hike at Smith Rock when they were visiting from New York. This is the perfect place for two couples as it has two comfortable bedrooms upstairs with queen beds and their own bathrooms. The kitchen was wonderful for cooking and relaxing in together with its open layout (and great equipment - gas stove, pots/pans/knives/towels/wine glasses...) We all really enjoyed ourselves and all of the logistics went very smoothly. Oh and the hot tub out under the clear blue sky was heavenly - thank you!
Owner response:Thanks, Fay... It encourages us to hear how people have enjoyed their stay! We're glad you liked the gas stove, a feature hard to find on vacation rentals in Oregon. Your description of the 'hot tub out under the clear blue sky' makes us want to come and stay there again ourselves!

My family and I recently stayed here for a week and found this condo to be very clean and hospitable. It had very fast wi-fi access, so it was easy to connect to the office for work when needed or stream movies to a Roku that we brought with us. We found the hot tub well maintained and warm when we arrived and used it several times, along with the terrycloth robes in the back laundry room. The water seemed fresh. We were also happy to find that the condo was walking distance from a great little area with a movie theater and several VERY good non-chain restaurants, and that made it easy to grab a bite to eat or order food for pickup when we wanted to. There was also a nice little organic grocer about half a mile away that was perfect for picking up produce, wine or other things for a stay-in-and-cook meal. The kitchen had everything we needed (pots, pizza cutter, de-corker, etc) for cooking and cleanup, including a dishwasher, so it was easy to eat there. Both the bedrooms are upstairs, separated by a landing and each with its own bathroom, so it was easy to get some separated space. The couches downstairs were pretty comfortable and there were two different televisions downstairs, so it was easy to watch something in one area while our kids used the other one. I would definitely stay here again. Would be a good place for two couples or for parents with children. Would also work well for maybe a 5-person retreat if people were willing to share beds or use the couch hide-a-bed downstairs.

Our stays at this lovely Bend Townhouse have been rejuvenating and truly luxurious! Everything is very clean and comfortable, and the condo is well-decorated. The owners and manager go out of their way to see that every need is supplied and that your stay is hassle free. Besides the comfort and hospitality, this townhouse is conveniently situated-- with shopping, a good selection of dining establishments (Anthony's Home Port, Red Robin, Quiznos, Pastini Pastaria), a theater and Ben & Jerry's not far away. And Central Oregon is full of places to recreate: lovely parks, rivers, walking/hiking/biking trails, lakes, mountains and waterfalls. If you plan to stay in Bend, Oregon, we highly recommend Property #60956.

We had a great stay here! The layout is very spacious, the beds comfortable, and the kitchen fully equipped for cooking. We used the hot tub, and it was very simple to get going. One night we wanted to grill our dinner outside, but realized that there was no propane left in the tank. We called the numbers the manager had given us, and one of her sons came over right away to fill it up. We were so glad it was taken care of so quickly, and he was very friendly and helped us with some other questions we had. We will definitely be back again for some downtime-- it was very relaxing!

Wow, we were blown away. The management staff was very helpful. They were very communicative and supportive of me and my families needs. We needed a place to stay for the USA Cycling Nationals, and needed it to be right by downtown, and they were very accommodating. The home was very spacious, and large. It had all the amenities including a hot tub! Which for us was wonderful after a day of racing! I recommend this property and any other property this management company represents. The attention to detail, the sense of customer satisfaction, and amenities are far and above the rest. Thank you for letting us stay at your lovely home! JET Tanner USA Cycling Coach for JETCycling

Nice condo, unresponsive management and Hot tub never worked right

Rented this condo because we were looking forward to a relaxing long weekend which included the use of a hot tub. The lock box was not the correct code upon arrival so had to call management person upon arrival for the correct code. Thanks god it was not too late at night. There was foul smelling garbage decaying in the warm garage from the previous renters (in the recycle bin) which we had to place in the alley upon arrival. There was also a lot of noise including loud talking and breaking bottles by the neighbors in the middle of the night. Subsequent phone calls to management regarding the non-functioning hot tub went to voicemail and were never answered. When an alternative phone number was found the management person said her cell phone was not charges so she never received any of the messages which had been left. We were never able to use use the hot tub. There were no chemicals available as requested in the condo manual to use. After re-setting the power as finally directed there was a bacterial small and a scum on the surface of the entire hot tub. This was not sanitary for use and could have been unhealthy.
Owner response:We are very sorry we could not satisfy this guest. Our manager is very responsive and treated him with great courtesy. It is true that the lockbox number was off by a digit--he made a phone call and they were in the house within five minutes of their arrival. City ordinances prohibit leaving trash cans/bins in the alley overnight except the day before pickup. For that reason, we make special trash runs between rentals so it will not be a problem for our guests. Unfortunately, the previous tenant did leave something in the open recycle bin, rather than the covered trash can. Our manager had many people checking in and out that day, but she said she will be even more careful in the future. The hot tub was professionally serviced two days before their arrival, had been drained, refilled with fresh water and brought to the correct chemical balance. The pool was checked and found still sparkling clean and functioning after they left, so the comment about the hot tub is inexplicable. The pool chemicals are kept in the garage cabinet and the house manual has since been updated to specify their exact location. Comments in our guest book and reviews are overwhelmingly positive, so we do take careful note of anything negative and use it to improve our service and provide the best possible experience to our guests.

Luanne, I wanted to send you a quick note to thank you for allowing us to share your townhome. It's beautifully decorated yet comfortable and having the hot tub out the back door is wonderful. And with the neighborhood so very quiet, we slept like babies (not something we're used to when staying in condos). We both immediately felt right at home from the moment we walked in. Your home is at the top of my list for our next visit to Bend. Thanks again... Roxanne
