View of the outside just steps away from beautiful Grindstone Lake.
Location: Hayward, Northwest, Wisconsin, USA (Two and a half hours from Minneapolis/St. Paul)
Accommodations: Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)
Keywords: Summer Cottage
Enjoy this private, well-kept, summer cottage on one of Northern Wisconsin's superb fishing lakes. For a relaxing vacation, there are few spots better than Grindstone Lake. The water is crystal clear making it ideal for swimming, snorkeling, diving, windsurfing, and water-skiing. There are many fine/casual dining restaurants in the area. The location is ideal for activities such as golfing, biking, shopping, and enjoying the peace and quiet of the North Woods.
This cabin is located on the southwestern shoreline of Grindstone Lake, a short distance from two peaceful islands where you can listen to the loons and hopefully spot an eagle. The cabin sits less than twenty-five feet off the lake with a lakeside deck. There is a dock, boat lift, fishing boat (you provide motor & life jackets), and a canoe with paddles for your use. No warm summer evening would be complete without a lakeside firepit for roasting marshmallows and sharing campfire stories.

Relaxing vacation nestled in the woods with a wonderful lake view

If you like fishing, wildlife, and relaxing this cabin is for you. The friendly owners have thought of everything. With your cottage you have a14 foot aluminum boat on a lift and a canoe steps away and I mean steps. We brought a small outboard to put on the boat and were fishing in no time. Every morning we had a beautiful view of the lake as we had breakfast along with our new friends (A red squirrel, 2 chipmunks, and 4 mallard ducks by the dock that love resting on the boat lift). As we fished by the picturesque islands on this nicely uncrowded lake we saw and heard the loon calls and saw multiple bald eagles. Shopping in town is not far away with all sorts of specialty shops, dining, groceries, and of course bait and tackle. The cabin's beds and furniture are very comfortable and everything works great. The description and features say it all and you would be extremely hard pressed to find a better choice for your vacation with all the options available here.
Owner response:It is always a joy for our family when we know that a cabin guest has enjoyed their stay on Grindstone Lake in Hayward. We try hard to make your vacation a memorable experience. We love the northwoods and all there is to do in the Hayward area. We look forward to sharing our cabin and lake and all it has to offer with anyone that loves the serenity, fishing, water activities, wildlife and the great Wisconsin northwoods.

My family and I recently stayed at this lakefront cottage and were very happy with our accommodations, the location and the lake. The cottage was cozy but well equipped and nicely decorated with a beautiful view of the lake. The lake was clear and uncrowded, great for fishing, kayaking and pontoons. The local restaurant was a quick walk. The rental rate is a bargain all things considered. This is a perfect retreat for a couple or small family looking for an "old school" summer cabin vacation. My rating is actually a very, very good and close to excellent for the price. We'd definitely recommend to others.

I'll start by admitting my bias to Hayward Wi generally and Grindstone Lake in particular. Two friends and I were looking sort of last minuet for a place to stay primarily a fishing adventure and happened upon this property. The interactions with the owners were well beyond my expectations. We were not looking for fancy or large and this property is neither. It is a few steps away from a stunning 3000 acre lake that is, especially spring and fall, more than kind to fisherman. The Waterfront the only restaurant on this lake is a short walk down the lane but far enough that it doesn't intrude on your solitude. The boat launch is about 1500 feet the other way. A pier to tie the boat to right out front. A fire pit that the owners had plenty of dry wood avilable for close by. It's second to the end of a dead end gravel lane and far enough off the main road that the waves on the shore were all that we heard. No it's not big or fancy. It was clean with nice sheets and towels & I loved it

What an amazing week. Even with a few days of rain we hunkered down and watched movies and enjoyed your cottage. On the sunny days the kids loved the clear water for swimming and snorkeling. Thanks so much for your hospitality.
