  Our stay at this nicely appointed modern home was very enjoyable during our 3 week stay . We are a family with 2 children and my mother joined us for our stay in this home. We were all pleased with the amenities provided. The home was very clean and comfortable. And located in a nice quiet private street. Living in Japan we were looking for a place near my sisters house in Carlsbad for the convenience without traffic and away from busy hotel settings. This location was perfect! Bob the owner was very accommodating and courteous! The village is nearby , which my daughter and I rollerbladed to on some mornings, for coffee and omelets ( Cafe Alysa was great) on the beautiful scenic path along the beach! The path starts immediately as you exit the private roadway which was nice. Many many fabulous restaurants in Carlsbad, Vigilucci's', my favorite and about a 5- 10 minute bike ride ( with kids) -The truffle fries were unbelievable as well as the Rissoto and if you make reservations you can even sit outside and enjoy the amazing ocean view! Too many great places - we didn't get to try many but the Pizza port was great for pizzas and Alejandros for breakfast burritos! The beach access around the corner within walking distance from the house was spectacular! We would lug the beach chairs and our own small BBQ grill ( sold at ace nearby) and perch ourselves along the lower cliff and wait for the amazing sunset show to begin! This seems to be the highlight as others have the same idea with their chairs! The kids would enjoy making sandcastles below and getting wet in the ocean! I normally stay in the LaJolla area but this newly discovered Carlsbad village was incredible! Less traffic and more sandy beach area with miles of paved sidewalk made for an activity filled relaxing vacation! If you have kids, another nearby great place, aside from the obvious LegoLand ( which we became annual members and lost count on the amount of times we went) is the amazing YMCA ( a few exits south) during the summer they have camps with literally 10's of hundreds of activities , everything you can possibly imagine , pool camps , gymnastics center- one exit down , skateboard, baseball, cooking, bug camps, etc etc even the adults have as many activities! This YMCA turned out to be a savior as we adults had time to golf at the many beautiful courses in SD! Thank you for a wonderful stay at your home!

  This is a beautiful, elegant home! We were vacationing with both sets of our parents and our two young children. The house sleeps six, but with special permission from the owners, they allowed six adults and our 2 year old son (slept in pack & play) and 6 year old daughter (slept on a princess travel cot). We walked down to the beach every morning to find seashells, enjoyed the wonderful ocean breeze from the front porch drinking our coffee, played in the park across the street, shopped at the outlet mall and went to LEGOLAND (both within a couple miles of the house!) The house had everything we needed and then some. We especially loved the outdoor shower to rinse off the sand from the kids, beach toys and our feet before going in the house. Everything was in working order, as expected since all appliances were brand new. We picked up groceries from the local Von's and cooked most of our meals at the house. There is a local german butcher shop that we bought excellent cuts of beef from and grilled on the BBQ. One night we ordered PF Chang's online and did curbside pick-up- super convenient- it's only a couple minutes away from the house! The property is very well maintained and the owners were very nice and acccomodating. It is a modern home, which did cause some concern with having young children. We had to keep close watch on them so nothing would get broken, including themselves on the tile floor. The beds were comfortable and showers, including the outdoor one, are automatically set to a warm, comfortable tempurature when turned on- awesome! The house is on a private road just up from the beach. It is a peaceful, quiet street and you are unaware of all the activity going on around. There is a jogging trail that goes up the coast and plenty of surfers and runners doing their thing. To get to the beach, you do have to go out of the neighborhood, walk up the street a little, and down a hill as there is no private access from this property. This was a little challenging for our mothers (63 & 71), but they just went further up the road where the hill wasn't as steep to gain beach access. It was not bothersome at all to have to do! We had a great time and would definitely consider staying here again!!

  Beautiful! Very spacious. Incredibly decorated and designed. Loved every minute of it. Walked to the beach every morning to find starfish, crabs, urchins, etc...Tide pools are incredible! Outlet mall is minutes away, along with strawberry fields and great dining. We had five adults and one child and there was plenty of room. Owners are the nicest people and neighbors are wonderful. Can't say enough about how great this location is. Beautiful home in beautiful area!

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.
