Why the Owner Chose Bodega Bay
I love the quiet and serenity of Bodega Bay. While the history of Bodega Bay is rooted in the fishing industry, there is a lot of activity and variety in this small town. You can enjoy dozens of scenic beaches, hiking, biking, wine tasting, fishing, golf, you name it. No wonder Bodega Bay is one of the most popular towns on the coast.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Living right on the water is the most unique aspect of this property. Open the deck and feed the seagulls, or enjoy watching the seals and pelicans right out front of your window. I love watching the changing of the tides, and watching the fishing boats pass "At the Bay's Edge" on their way to unload their catch.

Perfect Sonoma Coast Vacation Rental!

I live on the coast, and when I traveled to see family in Northern CA, I was looking for a property that featured all the coast has to offer. I found it in "At the Bay's Edge". While this cozy Bodega Bay Vacation Rental is located on the water in Bodega Bay itself, you can hear the ocean, and access the ocean within just minutes. It's a peaceful, quiet retreat, and you will be amazed and delighted at all this rental has to offer. I really enjoyed listening to the fog horns, watching (and feeding!) all the seagulls, watching and listening to the harbor seals, and watching the tides go in and out. Mary Jane, the owner, has an amazing amount of local guide books available....including many on birds, and history of the area itself, so I learned a lot. I enjoyed eating at so many new places I'm not sure where to start! Of course, the Wild Flour Bakery in Freestone, they have amazing breads and scones. And there's a great antique store next to them, the Freestone Winery across the street, and the Osmosis Spa is just down the street, so it's a great combination right there. We also enjoyed the Casino Bar and Restaurant in the town of Bodega, as well as Terrapin Creek in Bodega Bay (and I learned that they earned a well deserved Michelin Star....their food is incredible but it's a very laid back place....I highly recommend it!). We also bought some crab and cooked it in our vacation rental....Mary Jane has stocked everything you can imagine in the kitchen....from crab pots to an espresso machine to a George Foreman grill to a crockpot....and everything in between. It was a perfect getaway for us....we really enjoyed the combination of feeling totally at home "At the Bay's Edge" as well as having fun exploring all the Sonoma Coast has to offer. We'll definitely be back!

Perfect Vacation Rental Along the Sonoma Coast

This vacation rental was such a "find" for my wife and I, we love traveling along the Northern CA coast and Bodega Bay is a great place on its own, or to use as a central point for seeing the Russian River, touring the wine country, or even day trip down to San Francisco. Mary Jane has attended to every detail here....the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you can imagine....from an espresso machine and coffee press to a George Foreman Grill to a Belgian Waffle Maker to every size pot including crab pots. The view is spectacular, it's just as the pictures show, you are right on the water. We enjoyed a nightly glass of wine and morning cup of coffee on the deck, while we enjoyed watching the cormorants, seals and sand pipers. We even saw a river otter during our stay! I would highly recommend staying "At the Bay's Edge". There's an abundance of local activities and eateries, or you can just stay in and enjoy the wood stove and the incredible view. Either way, I guarantee you'll have a good time and a memorable getaway on the water!
Owner response:So nice to meet you and your wife, and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes, Bodega Bay is a great central location so enjoy all that Sonoma County has to offer.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Bodega Bay is just over an hour from San Francisco, but it's really another world away. And what a find this place was! Our trip was an anniversary present from my wife, and we stayed "At the Bay's Edge" for 4 days. This Bodega Bay vacation rental is even better than it is represented in the ad listing. It's hard to describe how peaceful actually being on the water is. We really loved the sounds of the fog horn, listening to the birds and seals, and watching the tides come and go. Mary Jane, the owner, has thought of everything and this place is really well outfitted. She has binoculars, every kitchen appliance and utensil you can imagine, and a huge library of local history and activity books. It truly is a home away from home. And she is a great resource for "local knowledge". She told us the best place to buy fresh fish (which we cooked at the rental), as well as the best place for clam chowder (Spud Pointe Crab), and the best place to watch the sunset (Bodega Head). She also told us about the most incredible Bakery in Freestone, the Wildflour Bakery, which we went to twice! I would whole heartedly recommend "At the Bay's Edge" to anyone looking for a peaceful and unique getaway.
Owner response:So nice to have you join us for your special day and celebration!
Recommended for:Sightseeing, romantic getaway.
