We are native kama'aina - local folks and Aloha Amauloa is our family home. This is where our kupuna (grandparents) lived out their days and it was always filled with the sounds of laughter and ono (delicious) smells. We continue their tradition of offering the kind of down-home, hang-loose, Hawaiian hospitality that appeals to locals and visitors alike. Aloha e komo mai - We welcome you to Aloha Amauloa. Take the resident dogs for a walk around the 3 acres or stroll through the lovely flower gardens and the many flowering and fruit trees our tutu kane (grandpa) planted. Put your feet up in the cool shade of a mango tree with your favorite book and enjoy our ono homemade bread with a cup of Kona coffee. Start your day with breakfast out on the patio or throw good eats on the grill and enjoy dinner by sunset. Take in the beauty of the ancient Ohi’a trees framing, on a clear day, the majestic domes of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. Let the gentle chirping of night creatures lull you to sleep, and a symphony of songbirds awaken you. Amenities: All furnishings, accessories, and appliances are brand new and top-of-the-line plus newly-installed hardwood floors and ceiling fans throughout. Sleeping accommodations include a queen, two twins, and a queen-size ultra comfort sleeper sofa - all of which are luxuriously dressed in high quality linens. Futon beds are available to sleep 2 more. The living/dining room has a DVD/VCR unit and satellite viewed on a 27-inch TV. Wireless Internet access is available through DSL. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-size stove/oven and refrigerator that will accommodate complete home-cooked meals. Appliances include coffee maker and grinder, microwave oven, toaster oven, rice cooker, blender, mixer, and chopper. Also for your use are dishes, utensils, pots and pans, bakeware, washer/dryer, iron & ironing board, blow dryer, beach towels, cooler, gas grill, outdoor table & chairs, DVD & VHS movies and more. The entire unit is beautifully outfitted and thoughtfully appointed. Activities (on site or nearby): A Scenic 20-minute drive from Hilo International Airport and picturesque Hilo Bay with its black sand beach, Aloha Amauloa is an easy half hour from some of the Big Island’s most popular attractions: the Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park with its great hiking trails and the only active volcano in the United States, the Puna area's famous and beautifully maintained hot ponds and its nearby tidal pools that offer some of the best snorkeling in the islands, the quaint village of Pahoa, with its funky boutique shops and charming restaurants, the several area farmers’ markets, overflowing with local fruits and produce as well wonderful hand-made, Hawaiian-style art, crafts and foods. After a full day exploring the wonders of the Big Island, come home to Aloha Amauloa and its cool Hawaiian evenings. Relax in our secluded hot tub - and perhaps, unwind with a soothing massage* by a licensed, on-site, massage therapist. *This and other options can be easily arranged after you arrive.
