This cozy, comfortable A-Frame house is located just over a little red covered bridge at the foot of Granny Squirrel Mountain. Legend has it that Granny Squirrel, a Cherokee Indian medicine woman, blessed the mountain and the gap around it before she started her long walk on the Trail of Tears. The three bedroom house, with the master bedroom as the loft, features a wonderful view of the mountains and treetops.
The other two bedrooms and bath are downstairs near the fully appointed kitchen and inviting livingroom with a gas log fireplace. The wrap-around deck and outdoor charcoal grill provide a place for relaxing as you enjoy the sunset and cook a tasty meal.
There are hiking trails, a fishpond, creeks and waterfalls on the mountain. Other nearby activities include whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River, hiking and mountain biking on the world-renowned Tsali Trail. Quaint train rides on the Smoky Mountain Railroad will give you an overview of the Appalachian countryside. Harrah's Casino can be found in Cherokee just a short trip away. |
