Location: Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada (Lower East Pubnico)
Accommodations: farmhouse, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths (Sleeps 5-9)
This is a classic Nova Scotia farmhouse on eight acres, with a large barn on the property, and a view of Pubnico Bay. The area is quiet, with almost no formal tourist activities.
Yarmouth is one-half hour away, as are numerous white sand beaches. Bay of Fundy is a two and a half hour drive to the north, and Halifax is three hours east.
The house is along Nova Scotia's picturesque "lighthouse route", and one lighthouse, no longer in commission, is just across a tidal pool from the house. Grounds are partly mowed and partly wild, including historic apple trees.
Main house is connected to a separate cottage by a deck, with barbecue. Kitchen is large, with woodstove. Cottage also has a woodstove, and private bath.
Upstairs are a large loft-style bedroom, bath with claw-foot tub, separate water closet, and a small bedroom overlooking the kitchen. A third bath is downstairs. Dining room looks west toward sunsets, and features a ten foot antique "pub" table from England that seats 12 comfortably.
Cottage sleeps three, in a queen bed and platform bed. Upstairs sleeps three, in double bed and single bed. Kitchen sleeps two, on fold-out futon sofa.
The house is filled with books of every sort, and there is a piano in the kitchen.
This is a fun house for a family vacation, and because of the separate cottage, works well for two couples, with or without children.
