  I recently visited this house in Manchester, VT and had some of the best times. I went up there for a long weekend with a couple of my girlfriends and had a blast. The view that you see in the morning is unforgettable. The kitchen/living room over looks the mountains that is breathtaking. During the days that we were there we had the option of driving just 10 minutes down the road to dowtown and having numerous shopping outlets. There were many delicious resutarants to choose from downtown if we chose to eat out that day/night. There is also a grocery store downtown that is very assessible for any needs that we had for the long weekend. The house is also a shirt drive from Bromley Mt that is great for skiing during the winter. At nigh,t the girls and I were able to sit on the back deck that looked over the mountains and have a small fire in the firepit that was provided. The house was able to sleep 6 of us girls very comfortably and with room to spare for more. I would absoutely recommend this house for future renters.

• Mold Infested!

  Infested with mold! We rented this home for a long weekend over the summer for a friend's wedding and the entire house smelled of mold, so much so that we all became sick. No one could sleep in the basement bedrooms, so we had to move a bed to the 2nd floor for better air quality, but we had to keep all of the windows open throughout the weekend so we could breathe, despite 40 degree temperatures. We sent a picture of the mold infestation (from a leak in the basement) to the owners and they told us they would send someone when we left. They then told us that they had it inspected and that it was fine. The house was not cleaned for our arrival; all garbage cans were full; old underwear was in the wood-pit and there was hair in every drain. We tried to leave and stay elsewhere, but there was no availability and we had to stay in Manchester for the wedding. We were offered nothing to compensate us for the deplorable conditions of the home, despite us paying in full months prior to our stay. The owners continue to rent the home in the same deplorable condition. It is a shame because the house has beautiful views, but you will not able to breathe inside. The condition of this home ruined our vacation and even though the owners checked in upon our arrival, they did nothing to help the situation during or after our stay.

  Owner response: As long time home owners with a long history of happy renters on VRBO, we could not disagree more with this review. What is not mentioned in the above review is that the renter never called to notify us and discuss her concerns with the house. In the case of this review, the renter only contacted us the day after her full stay and listed unvalidated accusations. She used her Esquire title and her law firm’s letterhead to threaten us into giving her a full refund for her stay. Once we did learn of her concerns, we immediately had our housekeeper of several years and a maintenance professional to investigate her claims. The fact is that they did not find evidence of any of her complaints and also our renter of 2 months before her stay, and the renter immediately after her stay, also had no complaints. Her claim of no availability is purely made up as the greater Manchester area at the time of year that she stayed was far from full (we checked). Earlier this year we spent over $26,000 to have the entire inside of the house redone and repainted and as you can see from the many other positive reviews, all of our other guests really loved the home and enjoyed their stay. It is unfortunate that a lawyer would resort to these baseless complaints to try and strong arm us. Our goal is to always make sure that our renters enjoy their stay and when a problem does arise, to call as immediately so we can continue to fix or address any concerns.

• Great home away from home!!

  We are just completing a three week stay and the house was great. The house is better than the listing photos can convey. It was clean, had everything you needed and accomodated our group of three adults and three teenagers very well. There was even a fooseball table to keep the kids occupied. The owners checked up on us and answered questions very quickly. Location is great, turn left out the driveway to go to Mistrals, Smokin Bowls, Bromley or turn right to drive into town. If you stay here you won't be disappointed, we will definitely be back!!!

  Our family stayed here for a long fall weekend and were able to enjoy the beautiful views from the large deck. House was 10 min from central Manchester shopping, resturants and the Equinox. Rooms were all good size, kitchen was well equiped and the open lay out allowed for the whole family to spend time together on the main floor while having separate areas to retreate to. Home owner was exceptionally helpful with resturant recomendations. Our family enjoyed a hike around the Equinox pond, pumpkin carving at the Equinox nursery pumpkin patch and a number of nice dinners out. Home is very reasonably priced for the space you get.

  We rented the house while in town for my brother's wedding. We comfortably slept 9 and a baby. The location was perfect; close to downtown Manchester. And the views from the house were gorgeous during fall foliage! The house was clean and provided the amenities we needed. The listing description and photos were right on for this house.

  We stayed at this house for my nephews wedding. The house was very clean, The view from the deck was outstanding. What impressed me the most though was on our second day there I received an email from the owner checking to see if everything was okay.

  We had a fabulous winter renting this home from the beginning of January to the end of March 2011. Warm and cozy at night ---- perfect for our apres ski life style. Bright and sunny with fantastic views during the day --- when we weren't out skiing. Clean, comfortable and a great open layout for families that value their time together, with plenty of private places to crawl off to. We have been skiing every winter weekend in Vermont for many years (2 teenage kids now) and so our standards are pretty high and this home met and exceeded our expectations. We would not hesitate for a moment to go back! Thank you to the owners --- who are also a delight to work with.

  We have rented this beautiful house the last 2 years and already have plans to return in October! The location is ideal, minutes from shopping and restaurants and close to Bromley Mt. The house itself is large and homey! We have enjoyed many evenings sitting in front of the fireplace or out on the deck taking in the breath taking view! The house is very clean and everything we needed was provided! We can't wait to return and relax!

  I rented this house for my extended family to stay for a weekend while we attended a wedding. Upon arrival, we found a leafy nest on the bath mat. Later we saw a rodent scuttling across the bed and freaked out. We phoned the owner and was assured someone would come out to check. We had to move a mattress up to the third floor and one of us slept in the hallway. We were unable to use the whole bottom floor, since there was a critter living there. I never heard back from the owner, and after the weekend requested a partial refund. The owner responded that there would be no refund and that there was nothing he could do. I was quite angered by this, considering my family was inconvenienced, grossed out and felt that the owner needed to take responsibility for the house being a proper accommocdation.

  Owner response: This is a false and malicious review. The renters didn't complain until they went back home to brooklyn and then they wanted a full refund. Essentially, I think they wanted a free stay. We are responsible renters and have always been and will continue to be fair, but not taken advantage of.
