Tranquility is a perfect place to enjoy the serenity of St. John in a pristine little villa loaded with charm and creature comforts. A truly unique island experience awaits visitors wishing to relax in a natural and beautiful setting where care and sensitivity to the environment have made Tranquility a special retreat for the eye and soul.
Situated all by itself on a little knoll in Fish Bay overlooking the Bay, its recently refurnished interior reflects the best of Caribbean simplicity in taste and design with a full kitchen, lovely dining area, cozy den, bedroom suite and a large bathroom.
Tranquility is nestled in the trees on a hillside above Fish Bay on the one side and the luxuriously secluded Reef Bay on the other. Fish Bay is a quiet residential area on the south shore with a mix of full time residences and vacation villas and only 10 minutes from Cruz Bay, making it very convenient for trips to the beach or dinner in town. The National Parks' virgin forests and beaches are close by. It is a private, romantic and unique little villa with high ceilings and 1,000 + sq ft of living space, which includes wrap around decks for sunning, sunset viewing over the water in Fish Bay and stargazing.
While the house is surrounded by big shade trees to the back and sides, offering complete privacy - there are no other houses in sight - the front view of the Bay affords a clear vista of the water and a full panorama of the incredible night sky. Fall asleep to the gentle sounds of the virgin forest and wake to the soft sounds of birds singing.
More than half of our guests have been honeymoon couples who have thoroughly enjoyed the romantic and tropical appeal of Tranquility, with its spectacular sunsets and expansive views of the night sky from the verandah and surrounding decks. The villa can also accommodate a small family - the futon in the den opens to a full size double bed with an overhead ceiling fan to cool the room, which opens onto the front verandah with a view of the bay. The den is a completely separate room with louvred doors and access to the large bathroom through its' own door. The bath can be accessed from the kitchen hallway so it is not necessary to go through the den. There is also a twin size daybed in the master suite.
Tranquility is an oasis of natural beauty year round. Recently equipped with air conditioning in the large master suite for the benefit of summer guests it is still possible to enjoy the natural cooling provided by the canopy of native shade trees and the glorious trade winds wafting through the open and spacious little home. Tranquility is eco friendly, designed to take full advantage of the cooling breezes; solar panels heat the water and a short nature walk along a garden path to the large (15 x 30')pool carries you through an herb garden. Guests are welcome to pick fresh basil and other herbs for their salads.
Tranquility's builder was a fine craftsman, which is reflected in the beautiful floors inlaid from a gorgeous selection of South American hardwoods and other distinctive touches of a true artisan. Tranquility has been decorated by the cottage owner, who is a local artist of international renown and whose artwork enhances the easy charm and comfort of this well appointed vacation villa. All furnishings, fixtures and linens are new and fresh. The artist's husband has landscaped many of the finest properties on the island including nearby Guavaberry Farms which is a veritable Garden of Eden.
A short footpath through the native, tropical forest leads you to our big 15’ by 30' swimming pool, which you may have all to yourself.
Another short walk takes you down a path to the breathtaking Reef Bay within the National Park. Reef Bay has a luxurious, long beach and is a shell seeker’s dream. Off the beaten path and with no roads directly to the beach, it is possible to have the famous National Park beach all to your self!
