Bienvenidos a Mexico y La Casa del Queso Grande! (Translation: Welcome to Mexico and the House of the Big Cheese!)
We love this place!
Corona del Mar (Crown of the Sea) Condominiums are situated at water's edge so the view from every room in our sixth-floor unit is both unobstructed and breathtaking. Our condominium will comfortably sleep four with a king-size bed in the master bedroom and two twins (convertible to a king) in the second bedroom. We have all the expected conveniences and amenities, plus satellite TV bringing in channels from the US.
There is so much to do - or not to do - here in Rosarito Beach. Frankly, we come down to chill out, veg out, relax, and have a margarita or two. But if you would rather go beachcombing, horseback riding, golfing, scuba diving, surfing or nightlifing it is all available and within close proximity.
Our private beach, where you can catch some rays, birdwatch, or gather seashells, is in a sandy cove on the south side of the building. Golf? Oh, yeah. Head south down the beautiful coastal highway about 30 minutes towards Ensenada to Bajamar, the "Pebble Beach of Mexico," or north about 15 minutes to Real del Mar.
You don't golf? (Neither do we.) Then check out Fox Studios Foxploration, visit nearby historic sites, go horseback riding on the public beach, or mosey on into downtown. Shop, visit the Rosarito Beach Hotel, the spa, the Wa-Kuatay Museum, or just do some people watching. The (in)famous Papas and Beer is just one of the local happenin' places frequented by Norteamericanos after the sun goes down and there are any number of restaurants with both Mexican and Continental offerings.
Or you can opt to stay in and watch satellite TV, play a board game or plug in a video. Mix up a batch of margaritas, take in a gorgeous sunset, and watch for the dolphins to splash by. The view through the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room and both bedrooms is amazing - morning, noon, and night - with a 180-degree panoramic view of the coastline, Coronado Islands, crashing surf, tide pools and nothing but blue water all the way to the horizon.
Here's what some of our renters have had to say about their stays:
- We had a delightful time! So relaxing, beautiful view, and this morning we saw about a dozen dolphins playing as we looked off the balcony.
- Thanks for everything! We had a great relaxing weekend. Golf and spa were awesome at BajaMar. This place sure is a teasure. Thanks again.
- What a special spot! Yesterday we drove down to Puerto Nuevo and had lunch at LaFonda, beautiful! Our accomodations were geat, thanks for sharing with us.
- Thanks for the great time! It was a wonderful family vacation.
- Your place is gorgeous and very comfortable. We loved the beach, the view, the dolphins, the pelicans...
- I caught a fish and put it in a bucket!
- Thanks for letting us stay here again. This is our second time on our wedding anniversray. This time we brought friends! Had a fun time at Hussong's Cantina in Ensenada. Until next time... adios.
So make some plans for a trip down Mexico way to Casa del Queso Grande. It's a fabulous getaway. Just a few minutes south of the border at San Diego. It only seems like a million miles away. We hope you will love it as much as we do. Hasta luego.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2004
We're Jill and Ralph, living in Los Angeles and pining for our retirement to Rosarito.
Why the Owner Chose Corona Del Mar
Why did we buy in Rosarito? Because it's a nice little town, close to the border so that we can get down there often from Los Angeles. Why this condo? Because we love hearing the surf crash on the rocks below and because we think it has the best view in all of Baja. Magnificent scenery up and down the coast and gorgeous sunsets.
