On the hill, in the tranquility of the Valle D'Aosta, a historic dwelling of the late '700 will welcome you with the rural simplicity of an old country house. Centenarian times in stone, brick tells a story of ancient workmanship of solid serenity, warmth and livability. In 2005 we decided to restore an old family home by following only the feelings and deeper emotions to be able to create a place where guests can transmit that strong 'sense of home'. The pleasant difficulties of the restoration was to be able to immerse themselves in the times, in customs, in the head and in the hands of the farmer, builder, craftsman who made centuries ago, these wonders where every stone has a story to tell. As well as the floors of the rooms in larch recovered, brushed, treated and rested, the floors in terracotta tiles made by hand, one by one, irregular, rough, but incredibly hot, or even the old fireplaces, stone walls and stone vaults in the old stables ... strong presences, primitive, sunglasses, convey emotions. And so on up to massive load-bearing walls, crooked and size 'uncomfortable' they do lose a lot of space, but repay you with their imposing presence only softened by the colors of which are soaked in lime plaster that surround them. Here's the 'skin' of the house, those plasters based on lime as it was used once, without deliberately lying straight edge trowel and those with small rounded and soft corners that create an atmosphere particularly suggestive. Stone, wood, brick, iron, lime, natural colors, conserved elements and new measures, all designed to create a light atmosphere of relaxation and hospitality where everyone can find the space to establish a personal relationship with things, sounds and silences, the simple and humble nature of a place where the earth was the center of a whole system of life that it took and she carried in every form, in every circumstance. At guests' disposal there are six rooms, all furnished keeping the style of the old houses in the countryside, with private bathroom with shower, wooden floors, larch, large sunny terraces and central heating, some furnished with family furniture and tools of tradition peasant. The furniture is different in each room, is the work of local artisans, the heirs of the traditional art of wood and iron. Much care has been taken in the choice and in the combination of colors. The historical and artistic constraints, as well as respect for the environment, did not allow the installation of the air conditioning system. The local thick stone walls, however, are cool even during the summer. The rooms have evocative names, suggested by the age-old tradition of winemakers in the family. Each room is named after the grape varieties grown in the Lower Valle d'Aosta, some of which are of great interest from the point of view of wine, they are risking the extinction strongly and survive in a few units. The heart of the house beats to the heat of the laid table, including the clink of cutlery, the smell of coffee and freshly baked cakes. The breakfast consists mainly of typical Aosta Valley: the mountain melted butter, honey and jams, apple juice, rye bread as well as the meats and cheeses are a healthy energy charge to start the day. Breakfast is served in the room that the early '900 had been the primary school of the village. The brick archways in perfect state of preservation have allowed the creation of an area of particular importance with few decorative elements. In the morning you go down into the room where a full breakfast typically local will give you a good morning and in the winter months you will let you wrap the warmth and kidnapped by the magic and the scent of crackling wood. In the warmer months, you will be awakened by the soft singing of the birds, the chickadees from the joyful chirping of the swallows, the sounds of nature. We will serve you breakfast in the arbor and keep you company will be the bright green grass, the rose garden and the scent of herbs. The kitchen will satisfy even the most discerning palates, we will taste sweet wholesome home-cooked on old family recipes.
