Don't let the first view of the backside discourage you. This cottage appeared to be a delightfully reinvented boat house on a dock literally over the edge of the ocean. We joked that "the basement was really wet - mud at low tide and seawater at high - kind of like being on a houseboat without the rocking." Our 5 year old grandson really understood the concept of tidal change after our family weekend there. The website description was accurate but did not adequately describe the charm of the nautical decor. Accommodations were clean, dry, warm, well maintained and up to date. We found everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The great room windows offered lovely views of the harbor, boats and moonlight on the water. This cottage was definitely "on the quietside" but an easy walk to the center of Southwest Harbor - a small and picturesque Maine coast village. Acadia N.P. attractions were a short drive away.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, families with teenagers.
