Step back in time with a visit to Miss Lillie Dobie's House - like visiting Grandma! Just blocks from the 'Square' in downtown Wimberley & close enough to walk. A quaint and charming little village, Wimberley is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Just 40 minutes from either Austin or San Antonio, 30 minutes from New Braunfels, 20 minutes from San Marcos, Wimberley offers a host of activities. Beat the heat with a swim in the cool local swimming holes - Blanco River or Cypress Creek at Blue Hole; shop to your heart's content at the famous first Saturday 'Market Days' (Apr-Dec), two overflowing Thrift Stores with great bargains, or in the many unique boutiques and antique stores around town; visit art galleries; or dine at any one of several excellent restaurants. Day Spa next door!
Miss Lillie Dobie's House is a historical home built in the 1920s by John and Lillie Dobie, and was originally part of a 133-acre farm owned by the founding Wimberley family in the 1890s. Situated on an acre and a quarter of completely fenced land, Miss Lillie's house offers accommodations for overnight guests, private parties, or small, intimate weddings. WE WELCOME LONG TERM RENTALS!
This historic Hill Country home has been lovingly decorated with special attention to vintage and antique furnishings. The house contains all of the original doors, windows, wood floors, light fixtures, ceiling fans, & beadboard walls and ceilings, along with the original windmill which towers above the back yard. A rock wall fence with the original gate still in place graces the front yard, while an ancient, majestic oak shades the relaxing comfort of a wonderful front porch spanning the length of the house. Yet it is also fully insulated with central air and heat.
This cozy retreat offers two bedrooms, one bath, a living room, dining room, full kitchen, and will sleep four comfortably. The whole house is reserved for your stay. In addition, the quaint Bunkhouse out back will sleep 2 on the queen bed in sleeping loft, and one on futon downstairs, and has its own bath/shower and kitchenette. The Bunkhouse can be added to your reservation to allow additional guests in excess of 4 in the Main House at reasonable additional cost - contact owner.
Centrally located, Miss Lillie's house is within walking distance of the Blanco River and downtown, yet retains its charm as a cozy country 'oasis.' [This property is not handicap accessible due to its age]

The house was perfect! Very, very clean & well decorated. Close to town. Our only complaint is that there was continuous traffic on the street. The owner was very helpful & accommodating.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I thought the house was cute. It is a small little house. The location is good and the front porch is charming. It is older and outdated and the kitchen is very small and outdated. The guest house is not what we thought it was. It almost looks like a tool shed that was converted into a guest cottage. It was very old, but did stay cool. The owners were nice to deal with and the price was reasonable.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Dear Guest: We are glad you enjoyed the house. The house is indeed old, it is an Antique! Built in 1920's. The house has retained all of its charming antique features, like original wood floors, beaded ceilings, and cabinetry. It is still “A step back in time” while being updated with modern amenities we have come to expect. Can’t agree with the ‘outdated’ in terms of having good central AC/heat, well insulated, and everything in working order, even the Antique Hunter Ceiling fans, and the DISH tv! Likewise in the kitchen we have a new full size fridge and a new coffee maker (both purchased May 2012), a new oversized microwave, a 4-burner apt-size electric stove, a double stainless-steel sink, and a pop-up toaster - the only thing we can’t do is run a water line to the fridge so you do have to make your own ice cubes. As for the ‘guest house’, we call it The Bunkhouse, it is only about 10 years old but made to look older and like a little barn on purpose. We will post a picture on this site asap.

Very cute home that gives you a great 1900's feel. Comfortable, clean, would defiantly stay again. House sleeps 5 (includes one person on couch) and bunk house sleeps 5. Great location! Reasonably priced.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at this house over a long weekend. This house is definately something special. It feels like a local's home, not a vacation home. My 4 year old did not want to leave. The beds were comfortable and everything very clean. The porch is AMAZING! It is not right on the water, which was fine for us since we have small children but river access is very close so we were able to go for a swim.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
