Our comfortable waterfront Orcas home is located at the end of a private road on 7 acres, on the east side of the island, roughly midpoint between Point Lawrence and Doe Bay.
The property commands a magnificent, sweeping view of Rosario Strait, Cypress, Sinclair and Blakely Islands, the Peapod Rocks, and the Cascade Mountains. It's a wonderful big sky and big water view that captivates. Please see my website for pictures.
We offer you a very private, peaceful spot to spend time with friends and family. The sounds are seagulls, changing tides, and the wind in the trees. And, from the house, yard, and your own private beach, you can enjoy passing boats and marine life. Sea lions, otters, orca whales, deer, bald eagles, and seabirds of all kinds abound.
In warm weather a picnic table, lawn chairs and barbeque are put out. Because of a southerly exposure, the yard is a great place for soaking up the sun and dining outdoors.
In the winter months, a cozy fire and a good book will provide welcome relaxation while you watch the changing maritime scenery.
Guests who visit our house take away fond memories...like a full moon rising over the Cascades, a bald eagle landing right out front in our largest tree, a salmon doing a tail dance across the water...or the ultimate: a pod of whales on parade 75 yards offshore. And, no one forgets our view and the peacefulness.
We have been renting the house for many years. Over the years, many couples and families have returned to enjoy this wonderful place.

Over the past sixteen years we've come to treasure any time we can arrange to stay at this Orcas Island retreat. Relatives who have joined us there have chosen to come back on their own. We enjoy daytrips for kayaking, exploring the mountain, Rosario's, Olga, Eastsound, Deer Harbor, and the many wonderful restaurants. The best part, however, is always hanging around the property and enjoying the view of birds, seals, ships, islands, and the moving clouds and water. The house is not luxurious, but we find it homey and comfortable -- and always peaceful and relaxing.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

My husband, grown daughter and I stayed in this wonderful place for a week (during the annual Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival), and greatly enjoyed it. It is literallly about as far as you can go from the ferry terminal (or Eastsound), but for those looking for natural beauty in a quiet, peaceful place,, you can't do better. We were met upon arrival by an otter, blue heron, and black-tailed deer; eagles live in the tree next door. The two-bedroom, two bath house is very comfortable--not fancy, but with everything you need. For those like us who prefer the quiet "Doe Bay" side of the island (and love the organic-foods restaurant at the nearby Doe Bay Resort, and the Lemon Shaker Pie at Cafe Olga) this spot is paradise!
Owner response:I am so glad that you had a great time. It is an amazing spot to see wildlife. There is nothing better than watching the bald eagles fishing off the front, or landing in the big tree in the yard, or sitting side-by-side in their giant nest. I hope that you'll get back to Orcas soon!
