Casa Quetzalcoati is located in the upscale neighborhood of Playa Langosta, part of the greater Tamarindo area. The design of talented architect, Richard Mueller, the home resembles a Moroccan villa complete with rooftop dining area with a beautiful tiled hot tub. Langosta Beach is literally across the street. Our villa is within walking distance of fine dining and a grocery stores. Tamarindo is a few short block away.
On the main floor, the beautiful private tiled swimming pool with it's lush tropical garden is the focal point, providing beautiful views from every room. French doors provide access to the pool from both the living room and the master bedroom. The villa has tiled floors and stucco walls throughout. The living room has a TV/DVD with cable, plenty of seating, and a sofa bed.
The kitchen, complete with GE stainless steel appliances, opens to a propane barbecue area. The master bedroom with a queen bed has a unique garden shower in it's private bathroom. The main level also has a half bath and a washer/dryer that is neatly tucked away.
The second floor offers two more bedrooms with private baths and plenty of closet space. Both have hand-carved, queen size beds. One of the bedrooms also has its own balcony overlooking the fountains of the courtyard.
All of this luxury is within an hour of Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, a short flight from many United States cities and other areas. Langosta and Tamarindo offer excellent vacation activities including: surfing, sport-fishing, diving, canopy tours, national parks, volcanoes, golf, tennis, excellent restaurants and many other activities. There is also much to do in the surrounding areas of Guanacaste and the Nicoya Peninsula.

This villa worked out perfectly for my friends and me. The gated complex of 8 units was very safe and well maintained. The rooftop hot tub, dining area and wet bar are definitely the highlights of this villa. That said the bedrooms, bathrooms, living area and kitchen were all nice as well and the small private pool was a great place to cool off and refresh after a day on the beach. Speaking of beaches, Playa Langosta is just a 1 minute walk from the front door. Certain areas of Langosta's beach were rocky but head down toward the estuary (5 minute walk) for a great beach and good waves. Tamarindo is a bit of a hike by foot (probably 20 minutes down dirt roads) so I'd recommend renting a 4WD car if you plan on going into Tamarindo often. Tamarindo itself is fairly touristy and definitely getting developed. There are a few good surf shops to rent boards and a number of good restaurants right along the beach. After long days of surfing or hanging out on the beach most of our evenings were spent relaxing in the hot tub under the stars with a cool breeze coming in from the water. From the roof you can see a small portion of the ocean but other buildings obstruct most of the view. From Tamarindo we did a two day one night trip to Monteverde Cloudforest (about a 4 hour drive, last hour was all dirt road/mountain driving). This gave us a chance to do some ziplining and canopy tours and also a much needed break from the beach/sun in the middle of our trip...highly recommended. Overall a great villa and great experience.
