Our classic cottage was built in the 1930's and has been lovingly restored. We've retained the charm such as pumpkin pine floors, cathedral ceilings, and huge stone fireplace that burns three foot logs.
Lilac cottage is a short, breathtakingly beautiful walk along the ocean to the Pemaquid Lighthouse(the lighthouse featured on the Maine state quarter).
The cottage was built on a piece of land that juts out into John's Bay. The site offers the cottage spectacular one hundred eighty degree views of the ocean, off-shore islands and John's Bay.
We have added a washer and dryer plus several new kitchen appliances and a modern bath. The living room has four picture windows overlooking the ocean.
Bedrooms are classic Maine pine floors, walls and ceilings; the third bedroom is a kids bunk room with two bunk beds. The cottage is furnished with comfortable overstuffed furniture and antiques. We have a 37 foot by 10 foot deck overlooking the ocean -- just perfect for barbecues and reading a good book. Sometimes Minke whales swim by and often seals play on the rocks.
The grounds are surrounded with roses, lilacs, and a wild flower known as lupines in pink, purple and white. It's just beautiful, old and unspoiled Maine. |
