Situated within a mile of Henley-on-Thames (famous for the Henley Royal Regatta) and in the corner of a Country Estate which has been in the ownership of the same family for over 100 years, Shooting Lodge Cottage is quietly situated, but not isolated, overlooks fields and trees, and is surrounded by its own small enclosed garden.
Henley is in the heart of the Thames Valley and Chilterns - an area not as well known as some of the other parts of England but just as beautiful and is perfect for serious sightseeing. It is centrally located between London in the east and the Cotswolds and Bath in the west; Stratford-on-Avon in the north and Winchester, Salisbury, and Portsmouth in the south. Windsor and Oxford are within a 20 mile radius and is an ideal base from which to explore all these areas.
For those who prefer a more gentle and tranquil vacation there are wonderful footpaths, which can be reached straight from the doorstep, through the Chiltern beech woods carpeted in season by primroses or bluebells. Alternatively be bewitched by the "Wind in the Willows" walks beside the meandering River Thames, visit the enchanting local historic houses and gardens or explore the welcoming Chiltern and Thameside villages. This unsung area is the pearl in the crown and is waiting to welcome you but beware there will not be hoards of people or large tour buses.
The cottage is available for weekly breaks (commencing on either Friday or Monday). Midweek or weekend breaks are also available throughout the low season [October - Easter]. After Easter in the high season these short breaks may be available for last minute breaks. It is licensed to accommodate 1 or 2 people only. I am sorry but it means just that and I am afraid that includes babies or children in travel cots. London Heathrow is just 24 miles away. |
