  Despite its romantic name, the Island Love Shack is a simple and well-maintained home that hosted our family of four. Washer and dryer and kitchen appliances made our life much more comfortable than if we had stayed in a hotel. The Shack is located in a very beautiful and quite place, which makes one’s vacation very restful. The owners of the house have a guestbook that was a great reference for us with first-hand restaurant reviews and places to visit. All in all, we enjoyed our stay!

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.

  From our guest book "Al and I were SO happy you could accommodate us for this short visit. The Love Shack was just as quaint and charming as it was the first time we stayed years ago. Love the front porch addition and, of course all your special touches throughout. So comfortable, we felt right at home. We were very busy most of the time with our realtor and appts with builders, but managed to get our furry kid to the beach. She was a very happy pup! Also we're able to have dinner @ Fishy Fishy in Southport which we enjoyed on our last visit. We didn't get to Blue Point or Provisions this time - both great. The Coffee House is a great place for early morning coffee and very close. Ordered Dominos the first night - very prompt and soo nice. I just wish we could stay longer this time, but we're on our way to FL for Nats spring training games. Thanks again for accommodating us. Well definitely be back. We LOVE the Love Shack,

  From our guest book "Deb & Kevin, Your place is darling. This is our first time to Oak Island and we love, love, love it! We came to look at some properties in hopes of relocating this summer. We are from Ohio and even though it is unseasonably cold here it is still 30 degrees warmer than back home. Everyone has been so friendly. And the Love Shack was perfect for the two of us. Some of our favs: 1) Donuts @ AHOA (monkey muffins - great!) 2) Thai by the Sea - best Thai I've ever had 3). San Jose Mexican was great too! 4) Nay Nays is a good default for those late night dinners open 24/7 Prayerfully expecting to have our own little piece of OIK by summers end."

  From our guestbook: "Our second visit here was wonderful! (Our first was in early Feb last year). We really lucked out on the weather this week: it was like early spring reaching the 70s. We had wonderful walks on the beach. The Love Shack was just as cozy and convenient as ever. We went into Southport and basically retraced our steps to the sights, stores, and restaurants we enjoyed last year. Maybe next year we'll branch out a bit but for this year it felt right. Our last stop in Southport was at the dog boutique "Four Legs Good", where our Westie Danny picked out his own gift (a stuffed owl). We have a 9 month old puppy a Brittany named Patty, who we thought was too young to run in the store so we picked out a gift for her. So thank you again, Debra and Kevin we had a great time and appreciate being able to stay with our pets at your place! PS So many people have mentioned the Flying Pig coffee shop in these letters so I did go by there and had a delicious chai tea and muffin. The owner (Becky) is very nice."

  From our guestbook: " Love the Love Shack!! We had the BEST TIME!! Perfect weather and everything we needed to feel like we are at 'home' was provided. We will definitely be back. The dogs loved the beach & had doggy cupcakes @ Crazy Chicks! Definitely recommend Haag & Sons for FRESH seafood. We even bought some for the ride home. Thanks so much for all you have for us at the Love Shack; you thought of everything. We even took the bikes out and the dogs used the 'baby pool' too. Hope to return in September!! We are sorry to leave :("
