This spacious, pool-side villa is located in the quiet, restful, resort town of Akumal, situated in the middle of the Mayan Rivera 60 miles south of Cancun and 20 miles north of Tulum, just of Route 307. Step out the front door of this three-bedroom, two-story villa to a lush courtyard and garden area surrounding possibly one of the nicest pools in Akumal. A one-minute walk through the complex will bring you to La Sirena's private, sandy beach area directly on Half Moon Bay where one can relax on loungers under the many palapas.
Half Moon Bay is well known as a snorkeling and diving site with its calm, clear waters and beaches protected by the Meso-American reef, the second longest in the world. The famous Yalku Lagoon is but a three-minute walk from the villa. This beautiful, protected setting has abundant fish and sea life for snorkelers to see, as well as occasional turtles. Akumal boasts two PADI certified dive centers that will organize trips for reef and cave diving.
The villa has a fully-equipped kitchen, living room, dining room, three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and two patios. Downstairs on the main level there is one bedroom with a king-size bed and the other with two twin beds. Step out of the living room onto the front patio and enjoy a lovely view of the pool and gardens. Wake up in the master bedroom suite on the second floor and look up to see a beautifully-designed, brick, dome ceiling with cupola. Open the French doors to a spacious, private, balcony patio overlooking the pool equipped with lounge chairs for sunning and table and chairs for outdoor dining. The master bedroom has a comfortable king-size bed with private bathroom.
There is daily maid service with sheets, towels, and soaps provided. A public telephone is located at the entrance to La Sirena or you may be able to arrange for cell phone coverage with your cell service provider. Additionally, phone and internet service is a ten-minute walk from the villa. Akumal offers several excellent restaurants offering casual and fine dining as well as two grocery stores, other small shops, internet cafes, masseuse, ATM, money exchange, fishing charters, and dive shops all within a 20-minute walk.
In Playa del Carmen, a 20-minute drive north, there are numerous restaurants, bars and night clubs, and the famous "Fifth Avenue," a pedestrian boulevard lined with restaurants, entertainment, upscale and local artist shops with something for everyone. Twenty minutes to the south is Tulum, the sight of ancient Mayan Ruins that overlook the sea. Between Playa and Tulum there are a number of fresh water "Cenotes" for diving/snorkeling, nature parks with underwater rivers to swim in and dolphins to swim with, golf courses, and deep-sea fishing. Day trips may also be made to the island of Cozumel and the ruins in Coba.
