There's always a lot to do at the beach, with the boardwalk close by! Beautiful sandy beach ideal for walking or jogging, shell hunting, people watching or just soaking up the warm sun. Lots of activities for all ages- offshore fishing, scuba diving, surfing, kayaking, windsurfing/kites, biking, sensational golfing throughout the area, the fantastic aquarium at Ft. Fisher and the historical Civil War museum and old fort layout.
Take a day trip to historical Southport (30 min. by ferry from south end of the island - great bicycling trip too, from condo only have to pedel 5 flat miles to ferry), then on to secluded Baldhead Island, accessible by ferry only, with bikes and golfcarts being the sole modes of transportation.
There is plenty of shopping in the area for the shop-a-holics (or on rainy days, which is quite rare), including the new Mayfair Center. Don't forget, the Outlet Shops are one hour away in Myrtle Beach.
Easy commute through the Wilmington International Airport. The Wilmington river front is only 20 minutes away with a true southern gentility and charm that is such an ingrained part of the area. Beautiful historic homes, fine dining, friendly bistros and coffee houses.
If you haven't enjoyed all of this by the time you leave, then the lure of the sand and sun, the seashells and seagulls, and the lull of the ocean waves must have mesmerized you! Enjoy, because we natives certainly do! Beware though, it is hard to return to reality.

Our family of four (two adults, a 3 yr old and 20 mo. old) stayed at this Condo at the end of July, 2011. At first we were happy with the location. Right across the street from the beach, just a 2 minute walk. Close to the boardwalk. And the condo itself was ok. It's not perfect but it was cute. The beds were uncomfortable though. Then on the third night we were there, we had to kill 6-7 cockroaches, and then a few more the days following. I raised my concerns to the owner and she brushed it off stating it must just be palmetto bugs, which when I look that up on-line, is another name for "American cockroach". Anyway you look at it, there were bugs in the appartment! Not what I want in a condo rental. If that wasn't bad enough, apparently someone staying after us wrote an inappropriate story in her guestbook and put a date that corresponded to the time frame of our stay (we didn't leave a comment). For some reason, the owner decided to tear these pages out of her guestbook and mail them to me at my home with a post-it note that said "Such a waste of paper". Apparently, because someone happen to write the date we stayed, it must me the family of four with two small children took the time to write such an inappropriate story in her guestbook. You can clearly tell it's written by multiple people, more than likely teenagers or very immature adults. Instead of either disregarding it, or calling me first to ask me if we wrote this in her guestbook and why, she instead sends it to me in the mail. This was incredibly childish, inappropriate and unprofessional! When I called to ask why she sent me trash in the mail, she just kept going on about the date it was written must mean we wrote it (why would the immature person who wrote this story write the date they stayed there) and then hung up on me. I had to call her back and ask for an apology. She didn't even offer it. I have never had to deal with such unprofessionalism in all my years of renting or staying at hotels. I will never rent from this company again and have made it clear to everyone I know, including those on Facebook, not to rent from this woman.

My family and I (kids and dog included), really enjoyed staying in Julia's beautifully deocrated condo at Carolina beach and what a perfect location... near the north end AND restaurants, etc.. We loved the cheerful colors, comfortable bedding and sofa, the cleanliness of the unit, and the fact that we didn't have to bring anything except for our towels and beach chairs! We will absolutely be back!! Thank you for sharing your home with us! Wishing you all the best!

The condo was just as described and pictured, everything you need for a clean and comfortable home away from home. The beds were comfortable, kitchen was well stocked and the location was great. Close to many restaurants, attractions and of course the beach. The best part was being able to have our fur-baby with us, thank you for being pet friendly!! We will keep this property in mind the next time we are heading to Carolina Beach. Thank you!

This was a perfect little spot for my mother and me to get away for a bit and relax. The beach is right across the street - an easy stroll to put your toes in the sand. The bed is comfy and the kitchen is well-stocked. We will definitely rent from Julia again! Thank you!

Julia: Good morning. Just a quick thanks for your condo this past week. It was absolutely wonderful. We had a great time. Your condo is probably one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed in. You have done a great job decorating the place and Della keeps it very tidy! It worked out perfectly for my family. Since this was our first time to Carolina Beach, the sight seeing was a lot of fun as well. I don't think we would ever to back to Myrtle Beach. We took in as much as we could in the days we were there. We had great weather except for a small shower on Friday night. My sister and her two children are going to come down next summer and we are going to try to do a beach trip. I would very much love to come back and stay at your place! Thanks once again. We have had a great time, and are sad to be leaving tomorrow after a wonderful week. The condo is clean, comfortable, and adorable, and the property owner has gone above and beyond to make sure that our stay is a good one. We have had everything we need right here from the silverware to the DVD player. The beach here is not too far away and is one of the prettiest beaches I have ever seen...I would recommend this rental to anyone of my friends.

Email received from Melissa: Thank you, thank you, thank you!! That brief getaway was just what our family needed! We all appreciate what you did to let us do it!! The condo was very nice. You have just about everything that a family could need. Personally, I liked the binder of information about local restaurants, etc. That allowed us to order dinner for takeout and bring it back to the condo to eat. The only thing that my husband and I noticed was that the queen bed was softer than we were accustomed to. The kids thought that the twin beds were perfect. They both slept like rocks. I don't know if that part of Carolina Beach is always so uncrowded, but we really enjoyed not being packed in like a bunch of sardines. That's a very nice stretch of beach.
