The Tourist Guide Book Quatro Rodas referred to this beach as a piece of paradise and in 2004 featured it on their cover. This house is complete paradise. Joao Pessoa has night clubs, excellent restaurants along the beach, and boat tours of the outlying reefs and coastline. You can book dune-buggy tours or sit listening to the nightly sunset rendition of "Bolero" at the river-side restaurants. Founded in the 16th century, Joao Pessoa is the third oldest city in Brasil. Old houses, colonial casarios, and century-old churches form one of the largest and most important historical sites in the country.
Joao Pessoa is 120km from Recife(1:30H driving/20minutes fly), Pernambuco, and 150km(2h driving/30 minutes fly) from Natal, Rio Grande do Norte.

My wife and I have travelled the world, but when it came time to buy our beach home we came back to her native Brasil. Iva is a professional realestate investor in The USA and Brasil, while I travel the world for KPMG helping telecom and media companies improve their businesses. Spending time whenever possible in the Atlantic North East of Brasil renews us mentally, physically, and spiritually. Whether it is mud baths in the stream next to our house, exploring the unspoiled beaches, or great inexpensive restuarants or just watching the sun come up in the morning and the moon rise out of the ocean a night, there is no lack of opportunities to escape the rest of the world.
Why the Owner Chose Jacuma
Iva and I travelled from Sao Paulo Brasil up to Fortaleza in the north looking for our dream house. Joao Pessoa provided all the ammenities of a large city without the drawbacks of Brasil's largest cities. Destiny played a large part in finding our home, from the dune buggy ride on the beach below our future home, to seeing vacant lots behind it, to discovering the owner of our home (and beach front) outside our hotel. The village is great, teh people warm and friendly, and the expat community diverse and growing.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Is peace and quite unique? Same as letting our 7 year old go to the beach to play with his friends without worrying about their safety. I love the constant breeze, not needing to choose between a nap or a good read in the hammock (why not both!) Swimming in the pool of the evening is great, especially as a full moon rises up out of the Atlantic. Being able to walk up the stream to the mud baths or left down the beach to the village center or right up the beach to all the little beach huts by the coconut plantation, takes me far away from work and our State-Side lifestyle. The couple which takes care of our home-away-from-home are some of the easiest going people I have ever met and make our days and nights worry free.

Iva, I know you are enjoying Tabatinga and your beautiful Brazil! We had a wonderful time at your house. The location was perfect, the beach couldn't have been better and your house was lovely. We had a nice beach routine and used the porch area(hammocks and bar-b-q) every night- the pool was an added attraction. Thanks for making your house so comfortable, we love to cook and found the kitchen very well stocked with cooking utensils and serving dishes/plates. Geraldo was helpful and we enjoyed the dogs. Again, thank you for making our Brazilian family reunion so terrific! We miss those gorgeous views(especially from the upstairs bedroom-wow!)
