Owner Description

I was born in South Africa and have lived in a number of countries but Two Century Farm has always been what I consider my home. There is a special quality to the land and the house that draws me back and drove my determination to share this property with others. I hope you will enjoy your stay. When here please ask to read the Guest Book. It is a testament to the enjoyment the Farm has given others and it pleases me to know that a place that means so much to me also charms others. When you are here I live in a nearby converted barn. That means I am available to help make your stay enjoyable but if you want privacy that is O.K. as well.
Why the Owner Chose Bristol
To me the Pemaquid Peninsula is real Maine with conveniences and variety. We have had people from Philadelphia and New York tell us for example that our local organic food store and the Grocerie Stories are the equal of or even better than those at home. We are just enough of the beaten path that we aren't a one day Tourist stopover but the home of locals and a number of people who like me came back summer after summer and now have retired here. We have a great library, a wide choice of places to dine, active theater groups and a thriving art community.
But having said that...the Farm is the kind of place that I'd want to live on and be around no matter where it was located.I'm just lucky that it is in fact in such an interesting and engrossing community.
The Unique Benefits of this House
You can be as active as you please or just unwind. Gather in the breezeway and share a meal with family and friends. Swim as much as you want. Curl up with that book you have always wanted to read. If you want to split up there are private nooks to be alone. One group can be in the study watching a film, another can be around the kitchen table playing a board game, and a third assembly can take place on the breezeway. It really suits different age groups and diverse interests. or assemble in the

My Family and I have been visiting Two Century Farm for many years in a row and we just keep coming back because "the farm" is so very magical and extraordinary. With full ammenities and many bedrooms it is a wonderfully comfortable and beautiful home environment. The vast fields, the extensive woods, and the sparkling pool make it a paradise for kids-- who can play safely all day long in a wild wonderland. The property is immaculately well maintained and the house is very clean and well decorated. The owners Wayne and Sarah are wonderfully warm and welcoming, and the descriptions of the property are accurate. When I am there I feel touched by the beauty of the land. It feels like you are going back in time-- to a simple and truly elegant reality where daily life is enriched with the remotness and the peace of the natural world. We watch the sunset every evening. We roam the nearby coastal towns admiring the rugged shoreline and the quintessential Maine coastal architecture and charm. We cook large family style meals and eat at the big table in the wood paneled dining room. We swim, we walk in the woods, we go for long bike rides around Biscay Lake, we LOVE every moment we spend there! This place is a true gem-- and although the photos are lovely it is 1,000 even more amazing in person. Once you visit two Century Farm it will live in your memory and your heart, fondly, forever. We have visited in different years during the months of June, July, August, September and October, just to experience what different times of year are like there. Each visit has been equally lovely. Keep in mind it is a wonderful place to view the fall colors! I highly recommend giving your family the gift of spending time together at the farm! With great excitement and gratitude, Samantha

It was our pleasure to be renters of Two Century Farm over the Fourth of July 2010. The nearby towns and villages put on a fine display of patriotism with American flags lining their streets and on their homes and fences, along with parades and fireworks displays. All pictures on the Internet were totally accurate. Seeing it first hand was a delight. The house and property are handsome and immaculately maintained on a level of George Washington’s Mount Vernon. All bedrooms are very nice with a beautiful vista from every window. The huge lawn, fields, stonewalls, beautiful trees and heated swimming pool look amazing from any direction. Wonderful books are everywhere. The kitchen is fully equipped for a small or large group. The drinking water is excellent, very cold and very soft. Laundry results are soft, better than any we have ever experienced. The historic towns of Damariscotta, Booth Bay and Bath, known originally for building sailing ships, are only minutes away with numerous shops, restaurants and Internet cafes. Suggestion: Bring your camera George England family, Farmington, Connecticut

From the time my husband and I first drove onto this property, we knew it would be nearly impossible to make ourselves depart at the end of our stay! To have complete privacy, an amazing historic house with lots of space, beautiful views, fun wildlife for us and the grandchildren to watch, a pool, and a landlord who keeps the grounds in pristine condition- all within fifteen minutes of a charming shopping/restaurant town or a wonderful sandy ocean beach. We can either be content reading, cooking, walking, swimming, etc. right at the house or keep busy in endless ways close by- kayaking on the a multitude of waters, many swimming areas at lakes and the ocean, lots of historic exploring, great dining, harbor and island cruises, and much interesting small store shopping and antiquing. There is always something to do no matter what age you may be. Our friends and family who have visited think we are geniuses to have discovered this amazing rental property!
Owner response:Jo and her husband Frank liked the Farm SO MUCH they came for four years in a row. Last year they bought some of Two Century Farm's 155 acres from me. They are building a super period reproduction house on part of Two Century Farm. You will have a chance to meet them if you decide to visit.
