At the West Port Madison Yachtman's Delight property there are TWO RENTAL HOMES and can be rented together or separately. EACH HAS A NIGHTLY RATE. The Cottage sleeps 6 and the Treehouse sleeps 4.
Our Port Madison "Cottage", sleeps 6, was remodeled last spring with comfortable updates such as, new bathroom fixtures, (one bathroom entirely remodeled and adjoins one bedroom), new kitchen appliances, hardwood floors, "cottage colors" paint, and shabby chic chandeliers throughout. Furnishings are comfy. Sprinkled throughout you will enjoy the owner-decorator's personal, colonial New England antiques and French antiques.
The kitchen is spacious, inviting more than one chef to prepare and or cook simultaneously! Meanwhile there's plenty of room for the curious onlookers. Dining can be in either the kitchen area overlooking the water or in the living-dining room with the same view! The kitchen too boasts a wonderful scandinavian woodstove taking the chill off an occasional cool evening or morning!
A built-in armoire style cupboard, features a dry bar with bar glassware, collectible decanters, and everything a bartender needs for cocktails without the ice. Nearby is a closet housing full size washer and dryers and the back entrance.
The two large bedrooms, feature queen and double beds respectviely,each with a sitting area and/or desk as well as walk-in closets. If needed for additional guests, a queen sleeper/sofa comfortably sleeps two in the living room which closes off completely from the kitchen and wicker room. This could almost be an additional BR-living room!
Picnic outside on the deck or in the gardens. The property gently slopes to the waterfront and has recently been renewed, flaunting fruit trees, vintage rhodies, herbs and Northwest native vegetation. A wonderful rope swing entices children of all ages to play!
The "Treehouse", built in 2000, is the upper level of a large garage. Approximately 1000 square feet of casual, sportif, comfortable, "at home" accommodations for four.
A territorial view overlooks the cottage to Port Madison Bay. If arriving by boat, a path winds gently up the slope to the "Treehouse". If arriving by car, a long wooded road through old growth forest brings guests to the top of the same path.
Meander up stairs to an expansive deck perfect for outdoor dining, sunning, reading, and relaxing. Enter the "Treehouse" and its great room with soaring ceilings, and kitchen/dining/living space.
If so desired, a wood stove in the corner, adds ambiance and warmth if the lights go out! Betsy, owner and designer/decorator(Candy Colored Dreams)makes guests feel at home with her visions, spatial sense and decorations. The outdoorsy, sporting theme is throughout with found memorabilia and personal collections. The kitchen boasts a propane fired Jenn-Aire range and up-to-date appliances so perfect for preparing freshly caught fish or crabs and with room for the sous chef/s.
The bedroom with queen bed and walk-in closet is adjacent to great room as well as is the full bath. A spiral staircase winds children, or adult children, to the Eagle's nest, decorated with twin log beds, side-by-side, one eve with writing desk and chair, and opposite eve, nestles a leather loveseat, ottoman with TV/DVD.
Take a peak outside...life as an Eagle! Living amidst the old growth fir and cedars, as well as bountiful fishing reminds us that this place is a gift. On the water are boats in all shapes and sizes parked at private docks, on mooring balls, or simply anchored out.
Listening to the cry of the gulls is "life at sea". Migratory birds, resident Eagles, Great Blue Heron, and WE have found the secret to life, a peaceful and protected place to live! It's not uncommon to spot deer foraging in the woods, or a racoons scrapping for dinner on the beach, tide's out!
Nearby sites...guests will find well known Bloedel Reserve(about one mile as the crow flies, reservations a must), West Port Madison Preserve, and Fay Bainbridge State Park. We are located on the Northeastern most bay of the island. Also one mile or so is the Agate Pass Bridge, built in 1950, which takes visitors by car to Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas. If so desired, energetic guests can paddle to Liberty Bay and the quaint Scandinavian influenced town of Poulsbo.
