'Il Monastero' is a restored ancient monastery in a beautiful medieval village high up in the hills near Spoleto, one of the most beautiful and famous areas of Italy. The villa retains all the original features - stone floors, massive fireplaces, and wooden beamed ceilings - with all modern amenities, including a magnificent stone vaulted dining room and massive kitchen.

The vast terrace looks out over exquisite views of olive groves and wild hills. The house is furnished with antiques from Europe, India and China and includes collections of artefacts from all over the world and a massive library of books for all to enjoy.

The oldest part of the house (12th century) contains a sunny extra sitting room that can double as an extra two-person bedroom.

Major art and historic sites from Roman to the birth of the Renaissance and beyond lie within 15 minutes to an hours drive away. Private specialist tours with an art historian and restorer of Old Masters are available, as are private cooking lessons and organised mountain walking tours for those who do not wish to explore on their own.

Some of the best swimming pools imaginable lie within a few minutes drive - including an Olympic pool in Spoleto and one boasting water slides and stunning views over the valley below Trevi.

To stay in 'Il Monastero' provides a unique opportunity to experience the real life of Italy, dine al-fresco on the terrace on local foods and wine, and meet a fascinating array of people - or to simply rest in a tranquil paradise.
