My brother has lived in Elizabethton for years. When visiting we always stayed at a near by hotel. I was so HAPPY that I decided to do a little research! I lucked out finding this little peace of heaven in the woods. My brother visited us and couldn't believe how nice it was!! I traveled with FIVE!!! Three adults and two older children. The space worked out fine. My parents took the bunk beds and the futon was so large my kids and I slept COMFORTABLY on it!!! The screened in porch and listening to the waterfall was heaven. With all the "at home" amenities I was able to make my nieces Graduation cake!!! I will NEVER stay at a one room hotel again when I visit my family!!! Did I mention I PAID LESS then I would have at the hotel??!!!!! I was Minutes away from town!!! Food, shopping, the war memorial, church etc. You could not rent from better people...at a better country setting...for a better price!!! TRUST ME, STAY HERE!!!!Did you find this review helpful? The cabin had everything we needed. It was clean, and fully equipped. The main reason for visiting was to decide if the area met our needs for moving there. Deb and Juri were exceptional hosts and provided us with information that was very helpful, such as sites to see, realtor information and what the area had to offer. It is a quiet secluded cabin. We definitely will be going back!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We came to TN from FL looking for a home and this was a great place to stay. Deb was a great help even before we arrived, and once we did arrive her and her husband were more then helpful and wonderful, kind people, it was a pleasure meeting them both. The cutiest cabin with everything and more there for you, and as a "neat freak" this cabin was spotless.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What a great escape from Florida! The cabin was very clean and well equipped. The owners were close by if we needed them, but the cabin was ready for us and our specific needs and we never needed to ask for anything. The road is a bit bumpy, but just drive slowly in low gear and you will make it to the top. We loved it so much we've already booked another vacation there. thanks so much Juri and Deb.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

As a cabin and log home owners (non-rentals) we like to stay in cabins wherever we go vs. hotels to see what others have built, their designs and settings, etc. We are pretty picky about them too, but this one is very cute and most important to us - quiet. How many times we've stayed at a "quiet cabin in the woods" with nearby burning trash barrels, gunshots, howling hunting dogs, bickering neighbors, and revved-up engines...we can't tell you. This is not that place! Its great - quiet, cute, cozy and at the end of the road. You'll hear an occasional dog bark or gravel crunching, or a very very distant motorcycle or car on the main highway about a mile off but thats hardly notable. The only passer-by you'll have is the owner, and they weren't even here. One lovely feature is being able to hear the small stream just beside the cabin constantly and if you're there in May-June, you'll be surrounded by a chorus of birds from 6 to 10am. The screened in porch is great and invites you to stay out on it a lot. I'm 6'6'' tall so the bed was a bit small for me and the bunk over it makes me feel a bit claustrophobic, but for "normal" people I'm sure its fine - we stored or clothes on it. We found this cabin because we'd arranged a guided caving tour nearby with River & Earth Adventures and this was not only a highlight of our trip - but one of the best outdoor (indoor!) adventures we've every had yet (and we're active outdoor types). Worley Cave is about 20-30 mins from this cabin and the meet up location is about 1.5 miles, if even...this is one of the most amazing local adventures you can take around here but its moderately strenuous so if you're totally lazy or out of shape - its not for you. Watauga Lake is stunningly beautiful but unless you love tricked out, exhaust-heavy speedboats boat, constant ski-doo whining, un-muffled car engines, and teens with bass crusing the parking lot - its a total waste. You'll have to drive around the lake to find quieter spots. As for the cabin, you're also 45 mins from Roan Mountain, moments from Johnson City, not far from sw Virginia and Mt Rogers, much of the Cherokee National Forest and also Shady Valley - the southern-most cranberry bog in the US which has a Cranberry Festival each Fall. This cabin is a great location smack in the middle of lots to do for this area and we'll stay here again when playing around these parts!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My wife and I rented this cabin Aug 30th thru Sept 3, 2010. The Owners were great they were available if you needed them but intentionally left you alone. The view and surroundings were stunning and were every bit as advertised. The cabin was small but very accommodating especially with the deck and screened porch. They property was very clean. It was exceedingly quiet and relaxing. the cabin has all the items necessary to make it a comfortable stay-TV w/ cable, CD player, Micro, etc., although we sat on the porch and took in the mountains instead of the TV. If you do your homework there are plenty of activities to do in the surrounding areas-whitewater rafting, boat rentals, Bristol Motor speedway, national forest, etc. the cabin actually has a good reference library of brochures. The main bed is a little small-but we knew that going in. Even with that we slept great with the windows open at night and the cool mountain air. It is steep getting to the property at the top but if you have ever driven on dirt roads you should be fine. We would rent again but I would need a slightly bigger bed-mine or theirs. If you are looking for peace and quiet, beautiful views, a quaint setting, etc. this place is it. San Antonio TXRecommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

On this return visit in early August, we stayed for a full week. Despite the heat wave, night time temps were cool, and we slept with the windows open. As before, the cabin was well-supplied with cooking equipment, gas grille, linens, etc. Everything was very clean. The dry weather had reduced the waterfall to a trickle, but we still enjoyed seeing it. Wi-fi required a little tinkering with a router, but Jay & Deb got it working OK. Newcomers, beware: your GPS system might not lead you right to the door since the cabin is on a private road. Best to get detailed directions and landmarks from Deb. For local trips, try a half-day at Rocky Mount historic site in Piney Flats. Very interesting tour by costumed guides. Thank you, Deb & Juri, for your gracious hospitality. FYI, official check-in time is 3 p.m. but they gave us access about two hours ahead.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

What a lovely cabin & setting! This is the perfect Tennessee getaway, just close enough to Watauga Lake & Elizabethton for convenient trips, yet remote enough to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Smoky mountains glimpsed from your porch. Our dogs loved to explore the property. Great place for three to four people only! I went with four friends and another couple came for a day. It was cramped but we made it work. The place is ideal for three to four people a few fishing poles and a cold one. Very private even though the owners are close by. They are fantastic respecting your privacy, and are very polite and interesting folks. Good view, fantastic sound from the nearby waterfall and close enough to town for pizza delivery if needed(Try Stoney's Pizza...UNBELIEVABLE New York style pies). My favorite part was the screened in porch. it is as big or close to the size of the cabin itself. I would definitly go back next Spring.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My husband is a native of Elizabethton, and we make at least two trips "home" yearly. We were delighted to discover several years ago Deb And Juri's posting on VRBO -- such a blessing after too many years staying in one of the two local hotels. The scene from the cabin is simply breathtaking -- the posted photos cannot possibly do it justice. The cabin is always immaculate when we arrive. Deb and Juri have always been such accommodating hosts, right on the spot if we have a (rare) problem remembering how to operate the TV remote, the fireplace, etc. We book our stays several months (or a year) in advance. If our home schedules hit a snag that involves our reservation at Twin Pines, Deb has always worked the problem with us. We are definite repeaters! The last couple of years we have arranged our Elizabethton routine to enjoy Deb's divine massages. What an idyllic, relaxing way to add another dimension to the perfect east Tennessee experience. In town we enjoy lunch at The Coffee Company and browsing the quaint antique/collectibles malls. Meals at Dino's and The Southern Cafe have also been delicious. And my husband can't get enough of Sammons Hot Dogs when we're there. Nearby Kingsport has terrific antique malls centered downtown. It's easy to spend an entire day there, with lunch at one of the cafes along the avenue. Anyone who has grown up in Elizabethton knows the charm of the covered bridge, the monument, the walking trail along the river, the lights in town and on the mountain during the Christmas season. We recently discovered the memorial wall of war veterans downtown. The lookout at Watauga Lake is gorgeous. Picnic areas abound on the lake drive. There are several B & B's in and around Elizabethton, but there's only one place that feels like home, even to a Mississippi girl - the Cabin at Twin Pines. The experience is not to be missed!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: We are originally from Ohio and when Juri retired we decided to build here in the beautiful mountains of Tennessee. When we purchased the land the cabin was already here and that is where we and our four cats lived for 16 months. It is cozy, has the waterfall right next to it and has a beautiful view. We was sad to move out as it is so lovely - but now we make great new acquaintances and friends from all over the US through our renters. The area is so lovely, there is so much to do and people are so friendly - it is a great place!
Why the Owner Chose Elizabethton:
We were buying for the convenience of living there and having a 'guest house' for friends and family and it just became more than that.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The view of the valley and the mountains across the valley is awesome. There are lots of birds and an occasional deer, bobcat, turkey, raccoon and even, very occasionally, a bear. There is lots to do outdoors in the surrounding communities and lots of festivals in the summer. Antique shops and flea markets flourish here. Big events include Nascar Races and the Storytelling Festival. And if you are seeking peace and privacy the cabin provides that too - even though we are only 4 miles out of Elizabethton.
