Why the Owner Chose Jaco
We have been traveling to Costa Rica for many years in search of waves. While traveling back from Pavones one surf trip we stopped by Hermosa to check the waves and to our surprise they were building homes in front of the surf break. Shortly after that visit we purchased the beach house.
The Unique Benefits at this Bungalow
Some of our favorite things about the beach house are
1. The covered back terrace which is great for viewing the monkeys and other wildlife or stars at night.
2. The beach house is close enough to the beach and pool yet far enough from the excitement to be able to take a nap on the porch.
3. The decorating makes the house romantic and cozy.
4. The beach house is close to everything, Jaco, Los Suenos, Manuel Antonio. You can even take a day trip to Arenal.

Our family spent a week here for Spring Break, and we had a wonderful time. The setting is remote enough that you get to see a lot of wildlife and enjoy early-morning walks on the beach with very few people around. But it's also very close to nightlife, great restaurants and all kinds of hiking, fishing snorkeling, and other kinds of activities. The house itself is very nicely decorated and comfortably appointed. We loved sitting out on the front porch with coffee in the morning and pina coladas in the evening while we enjoyed the sound of the ocean and the fresh breeze.

This was the first location we stopped at in Costa Rica and didn't want to leave. The Bungalow was absolutely everything we could want in a beach property. The place itself is very clean and comfortable. The kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, and living room were clean and spacious. The wi-fi didn't work that well, but we also didn't spend too much time in the house with so much to do outside. The patio was perfect to hang out and drink coffee each morning. The cable TV was great also and we were able to catch a couple US football games! The location is perfect. About 100 yards from the beach and with a beautiful grove behind the bungalow (didn't see any monkeys) but plenty of birds. The surf was great with really fun waves. It was never very crowded either. The property manager recommended a great place to rent a surfboard about a mile away - Nika's surfboards are a great deal about $15 for 24hrs and a good selection of boards. Food in Playa Hermosa was our favorite of the trip with fresh seafood everywhere. Our favorite was Jungle Surf with fresh fish daily. There is another couple "sodas" smaller restaurants in the area that the property manager recommended and we really enjoyed as well. Great food at really good prices. We also checked out Jaco, but can't really recommend that place. Really heavy tourist town. Prices for everything were higher than other locations. Not as relaxing and clean as Playa Hermosa. The property manager was extremely helpful and had great recommendations for everything. She went out of her way to help return a camera I had left at the house. We were about 5 hours away in Arenal/Fortuna and she arranged a driver she trusted to bring it to us for a small fee. I can not thank her enough for that trouble and for being so honest as the camera is valuable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and look forward to coming back! This was our favorite location of the entire trip even more than Arenal and Tamarindo. The perfect surf getaway.

The cottage was everything we had hoped for. Private, yet close enough to town for shopping. Very relaxing and we will be back. Who says its not fishing season in September. Our 3rd day we booked a guide all day. Four of us on the boat my husband and I the el capitan and the" bait master". We caught 8 sail fish, 5 tuna and 1 durago (sp?). For four physically fit people our arms were like jello. However that will not stop me from riding horses as fast as i can on the beach. Priceless oppertunities surround this place and hermose is the place to go. Could not have accomplished this if it had not been for the referal from Twinka the manager at the bugalows. She was most helpfull with all our needs. What else can I say. IT WAS IDEAL. See you again soon. Thank you Kelly

The bungalow is great. Sleeps about 6 and was super clean. There is a back deck for watching wildlife and a front porch for watching the waves. The owners have a huge collection of dvds to watch when the sun goes down. The beach break of Hermosa is a 30 second walk. You can get a chilled coconut water from the guy who sells them down the street in the morning after you come out of the waves. Overall this place is the best place in Costa Rica for the $$$.
Owner response:Beau, Thank you for submitting your review. I love the covered balconies too. I always enjoy my morning coffee on the front porch and evening cocktail on the back porch.

I spent three wonderful days at this house. It is very tranquil and well-appointed. The owners are very helpful in answering promptly to any questions and the caretakers are also very kind. We were two, but it can accomodate 4 people without any trouble. Place is convenient but to go to Jaco (3 or 4 miles away) it would be better if you have a car. My only concern is that there are too much dogs in the common pool of the property (and we are no that into dogs or any pets), although this is clearly not the fault of the owners of the bungalow, but rather of their neighbors. All in all, I would go back there any time I decide to visit Jaco and its vicinity.

From the time of booking to the dropping off the keys, everything went smoothly. Whenever I emailed Kelly I alway got a response that same day, and Judith the property manager was waiting for us when we arrived. (much later than expected). Our bungalow was very clean, and it was towards the back so that we couldnt hear the noise from the pool or anything except for the birds that woke us up every morning. We cooked dinner almost every evening and the bungalow had everything that we needed. Jaco was only a 10 minute drive and several shops and restaurants. We did a couple of side trips to Manual Antonio National Park, and went zip lining. We enjoyed our stay and will return again.
Owner response:Amy, Thank you for taking the time to enter the review. I am so glad you enjoyed the beach house and Costa Rica. We welcome you back for a return vacation.

We stayed 7 nights in the bungalow and had a great time. The grounds were beautiful and immaculate. We had everything we needed but if you're planning to cook and eat-in the kitchen is somewhat limited in pots and pans and was disappointed there was no barbeque. But very minor things compared to the rest of the house. It fit our needs perfectly. Very clean and well taken care of. The pool was beautiful and we enjoyed sitting on the veranda and listening to the crashing of the monsterous waves. We also appreciated that the beach was uncrowded. We felt very safe. It was also a treat to purchase fresh seafood from Victor the fisherman who came right to the house! Kelly was very helpful and friendly and answered any questions we had before our arrival. We would highly recommend this house to anyone. It is a great place to stay. We would recommend a visit to the nearby sea turtle refuge and a guided ATV tour. Those were the highlights of our vacation. We hope to visit Costa Rica again someday. Thanks for everything!
Owner response:Thank you Joanne for your review and suggestions. We are at the beach house this week and will be looking for new pots and a grill.

Excellent! Terrific location, easy to find bungalow! Awesome location, wonderful pool and tiki bar. Met many very nice people! Beach beautiful, however with rip tides did not swim at this beach, however visited other beaches where we could swim. Bungalow was neat and clean. Appreciated having dish washer and washing machine! Would most certainly recommend this property!

My friends and I were so happy that we chose to stay here instead of a hotel. After a long flight and drive, it felt like we were at a place that felt like home. It was the perfect place to stay and wished we could stay longer. The property is clean and well-kept. The beach is also close by. This property is great for all types of travelers: families, group of friends, etc.

"2 friends and I spent 2 nights at Bungalow #28 and loved it. The location was perfect. Very quiet except for the wildlife sounds outside. It is a short walk to a surfer's beach, and the pool is close by too. Pool area was especially nice to relax with plenty of lounge chairs in the sun or shade, and even a couple hammocks. I loved sitting on the back porch early in the morning to watch the scarlet macaws and other birds flying past. Definitely bring your binoculars! The bungalow is equipped with all the basics and extras like beach towels and a dvd player. It is beautifully decorated, with nice paintings on the wall and comfortable furniture. Bungalow is also a short distance by car from Jaco's restaurants & grocery stores, while avoiding all the people and noise of Jaco. We'd highly recommend this bungalow and hope to return."
