WELCOME to The Alexander Homestead Log Cabin. Entering through the front door by way of the wraparound deck, you will be welcomed by the warm wood interior and charming decor of this immaculate log cabin.

As you venture downstairs you encounter the MASTER BEDROOM with a full bath and shower. This bedroom has a king bed with pillowtop mattress. To insure that you rest well while staying at The Alexander Homestead Log Cabin I have provided luxury Egyptian linens for your comfort. This bedroom is so private you are not even aware of its presence. It is oversized with two sets of French doors leading out onto the covered wraparound deck where a hot tub awaits you or if you prefer, a swing or hammock.

Upstairs in the loft you will find the GUEST ROOM (Bonnie's room)furnished with twin beds and family antiques. This bedroom also has a full bath & shower. Also in the loft is a cozy nook in which to read, play board games or simply daydream.

Upon first glimpse of my cabin perhaps you will be reminded of an earlier, simpler time in younger years when you dreamed of living in a treehouse in the woods. This charming log home offers seclusion and privacy, quaintly tucked away in woods screened with mountain laurel. My woods are home to chipmunks, squirrels and many various species of birds. In the morning hours and throughout the day and early evening you may find yourself being entertained by the antics of these furry critters and their beautiful and whimsical feathered friends. And as the saying goes, "if you feed them, they will come."

Perhaps, later on as you relax in the swing or hammock with a glass of wine or your favorite book you may be soothed by the sounds of the wind rustling through the trees or the rushing waters of the nearby creek.

If you choose to cook while staying at The Alexander Log Cabin, you will find a FULLY EQUIPPED KITCHEN. In addition to stove, oven and refrigerator, appliances include microwave, toaster, toaster oven, blender, mixer, crock pot, coffee pot and grinder. You also will find plenty of pots and pans, cooking utensils, and silverware-- everything you need to prepare a gourmet dinner. Or if you prefer something a little more casual, enjoy a cookout using the gas grill and patio furniture on the wraparound deck.

The LIVING ROOM, with its beautiful oak hardwood floors and cathedral ceiling, offers a magical sense of tranquility. During the cooler seasons enjoy a romantic evening in front of the Woodburning Stone Fireplace. And in the warmer months when the sun sets later, relax in the cabin or on the wraparound deck and experience the reality of living in a Smoky Mountain Treehouse.

The Alexander Homestead Log Cabin is in a terrific location for day trips. If you are an outdoor enthusiast this is the place for you!
As a previous guest comments, "This cabin is even better than the pictures. It is well kept and clean. It makes for the perfect mountain get away if you want to be AWAY from everything, yet CLOSE enough to all the places you need to go. We will definitely be coming back to this JEWEL in the mountains."

Once down from the mountain, which is just a short mile, you end up on Soco Rd/US19 which is the main street through Maggie Valley. Turn left and drive about 17 miles and you reach Cherokee. On the way, and about a 10-15 minute drive from the cabin, you will pass the entrance to The Blue Ridge Parkway and just a little further down the road you will find the southern entrance to the Smoky Mountain National Park. Gatlinburg is about 50 miles from the cabin and then Pigeon Forge is just another 6 miles. The Biltmore Estate which is a must see is only 35 miles away in the opposite direction. There is horseback riding, golfing, miniature golf, hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking and white water rafting near by.

Why the Owner Chose Maggie Valley

Upon first glimpse of my log cabin, I was immediately reminded of a time as a little girl when I wanted to live in a treehouse. The cabin is tucked away in the woods and sitting in the living room, looking out the windows, you actually get the sensation that you are in a treehouse. The cabin is very private and quiet but not isolated. You are close enough to any place that you might want to go, but yet "away from it all".

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin

I truly enjoy visiting my cabin and relaxing in the mountains. There are two wraparound decks with a hot tub, swing, hammock and rocking chairs. While sitting on the deck I can watch the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks play while listening to the soothing sounds of the nearby creek. Since this is my home, it is very important to me that I provide a very CLEAN & cozy vacation rental for you, my guest. And while you are visiting I hope that you will feel as if you are in your Smoky Mountain "home away from home".

Owner's Map of Maggie Valley

I was happily living in Denver, and had lived there for the previous 28 years, when I went on vacation to the Smoky Mountains. When we drove into Maggie Valley, I just fell in love with the area. While in the area we decided to drive around and look at real estate. I just had to buy my "Smoky Mountain Treehouse", and within the year, I had sold my home in Denver and moved to St Augustine, Fl where my sister lives. Even though I do not yet live in the mountains, I am able to get away on occasion. And every time I go, I love it just a little bit more!

Best Christmas in the Best Home in Maggie Valley

Guest: tyta (Ft. Myers, Florida, USA)
Date of Stay: 12/19/08 Review Submitted: 01/16/09

The Alexander Home in Maggie Valley is truly a home away from home. This was our first Christmas to ever be away from home. It was something we always wanted to do but was a little nervous about the kids waking up Christmas morning and it not feeling like home. That wasn't the case at all. What you see on the webpage is exactly the way it is. When we entered the house we felt like we had all been there before, but that's just because we looked at the pictures and did the virtual tour before we left. The kids are 18, 12 and 7. The loved it. Everyone had there own space. My 18 year old took the loft and made it his own with an air mattress. My 12 year old daughter and 7 year old son were in heaven with the guest room of their own and their own private bathroom. My husband and I were like two kids with our room. Either late at night or early in the morning we would sneak out to the jacuzzi. Christmas morning was wonderful! The kids coming down the stairs, the fire in the fireplace was just picture perfect. The home is so easy to get to and in the perfect place to get to everything we wanted to do. Maggie Valley has some great specialty shops and it is so close to Waynesville's great little historic downtown shopping district. The restaurants were also very good. The kids loved to the snow tubing just 3 minutes away. We also went to Catalochee Valley. A must see! Perfect! Is the way I would have to describe the Alexander home. We can't wait to go back. We know it will be just as pretty in the summer.

Cozy and Convenient

Very Cozy Place Takes a little adjusting to multiple heaters to acheive the right temp (First night was 12 degrees) Very Convenient to everything we wanted to do - Skiing, Snow Tubing, Eating out A Dishwasher would be a nice addition as well as a few larger Frying pans and an Ice maker. Would recommend to anyone with fewer than 5 people.

Thanks much! Jane PS: Welcome packet was very helpful. Hi Ms Alexander: We had a truly wonderful time at your cabin, and we hated to leave. We will definitely plan on a return trip! Log Cabin in the Trees

Guest: Paul, Chris, Amy & Sarah (-)
Date of Stay: 07/16/11 Review Submitted: 07/25/11

Just wanted to take a minute to thank you for sharing your log cabin in the trees with us! We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay there. We enjoyed the quietness of the cabin and even felt slightly guilty at the cooler temperatures while our friends & coworkers were going through 100+ temps here at home. Sorry we didn't get a chance to sign your guest books, but we were so busy enjoying all there was to do in the area that by the end of the day, all we wanted to do was crawl into bed and get ready for the next day (after a quick dip in the hot tub, of course)! Our kids enjoyed your selection of games, especially the "Guess Who" game - it seemed as if they could have played it for hours! Thanks again for sharing your lovely space.

A true vacation

Guest: Pat and Alan (-)
Date of Stay: 05/23/11 Review Submitted: 06/13/11

What a great place to stay-a true vacation- a beautiful cabin in order to relax and conveniently located for day trips. We want to try all the seasons here at some time. It's changed the way we think of vacation and how we want to travel. We've had a mix of weather and for the sunny days with blue skies, we enjoyed rides thru the Blue Ridge parkway, horseback riding, hiking, and visiting nearby towns. After some strenuous days, the hot tub and hammock were very welcoming. For some rainy afternoons we could enjoy cozying up and looking out over the trees. This was a good week to enjoy blooms--dogwood, azalea, forsythis, redbud. Truly a great vacation! guest name: Pat & Alan guest city-state/province: Melbourne Beach, Fl

Diane, We had such a nice stay (siesta) in the "treehouse". As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by a clean and warm, cozy comfortable house. We needed some time to get away and this was what we needed. Your cabin is so equipped with everything you need--from being able to coke a lovely meal to the soft fluffy nice smelling towels. We enjoyed the grill and the hot tub. Your place is so charming. May God bless you, Diane, as your treehouse has been a blessing to others. Thanks again, Pable & Dawn Rinae guest name: Pable & Dawn Rinae guest city-state/province: Carthage, NC

Quiet and perfect

Guest: Susan (-)
Date of Stay: 03/20/11 Review Submitted: 06/13/11

What a wondderful place! Very quiet perfect to relay and fill up the energy bank. Being city people, we obviously had a fun time trying to make a fire that lasted more than 5 minutes!! That was funny--couldn't do it! Jacuzzi was fun too (managed that one!) Very comfortable house waking up to the sounds of birds & trees everywhere you look. Staars at night! The trip to White Water Falls is worth it. We would definitely come ack here for a longer time. Thank you for letting people use this wonderful place! You have a lovely place here--we enjoyed ourselves especially being able to come back to the Treehouse after a full day and relax in the hot tub. Many thanks, Susan
