Villa Miralaghi: Your Pool, Your Pool Table, Your Chianti,

Year Purchased: 1957

Why the Owner Chose Citta della Pieve

Miralaghi is situated on Monte Pausillo, that divide Umbria with the Val di Nestore with Perugia and Assisi at the bottom of the valley Chiana Valley, (Tuscany) extends for approximatly 850 acres and It was born as a hunter’s reserve. As a result inside Villa Miralaghi, the family home, you can admire numerous trophies of buck, deer, pheasants and wild boar. At the begin of spring there are the violets, in Italy we do a delicious blue candy with the violets, a lot of wild flowers during the spring, the sun-flowers in summer; In september in the forest you encounts cyclamens. At the end of September until the beginning of November you can find many species of mushrooms- books explaining them are at home -.If you like a different experience come the first week-end of November to collect the olives with us and to partecipate at the ryte to making oil. There are still many species of wild animals, which I try to protect in every way: foxes, roe deer, hedgehogs, porcupines, wild boars, hares, and squirrels near Miralagh;i fire-flies in June, July. A couple of buzzards and a hawks often circle above us. A family of barn owls is often seen at night. Robin, jay, hoopoe, green-peak are usual visitors. Pheasants and partridges are often set free here. About this: in the country you are not in danger. All the animals are a spectacle to look at; The nature in the forest is amazing. Climb on the bird-watching just to hear the breese of the wind through the branches. On the property’s interior, there is “Il laghetto Pescoso” a fishing pond near the gate where you can fish easily, but remember is a not kill fish; we consider that you can keep one fish every five; you can find, following the indication or your map-road, the Romantic lake for a pic-nic and the triton lake in winter-time. Follow the signs on the trails with faith.(20Km) It is not difficult to rediscover the roads to the house.. To ride go at Maneggio Natura out Paciano. To do wind-surf go to San Feliciano.

Owner's Map of Citta della Pieve

Hello,
The property was bought by my grandfather after World War II, when returning from Africa, was looking for a property near Rome, that reminds him of the wide spaces of Africa and he felt in love for Miralaghi. All around us there is not the savannah, of course, but hundreds of kilometers of nature, culture, architecture and art that you can see all around you.
I like a lot this place because is in the hearth of the most beautiful area of Umbria and Tuscany. You can reach a lot of places. I like people who come to visit my property because I like to share it: it is a unique place. The air is clean, full of good energy, the silence is broken by the the gentle breeze and birdsong.
I stay at the country from the arrive of the firsts guests to the last arrive. I like to give a virgin oil lesson- testing and info about the surroundings. I live in another house in the estate where I like to invite my guests for a drink. Miralaghi is a perfect place where to live and work because it is beautiful, near Rome and Florence in un area full of theathers, events, festivals, music, concerts, parade, cinemas. So after my work I can do something that generrally you find in the big cities as fantastic exibition in Florence or Rome, or festival in Perouse or theather in Città della Pieve or Montepulcian to be ready to give you the best "adress" at your arrival. Or sometime I go to do a horse-ride inside with her magnificent Arab horse.
As well you have the opportunity to spend a day in total relaxation or activities with your loved ones inside or choose the destination of your trip from the top of the hill .It's all around you: Castiglione del Lago, Cortona (Under The Tuscany Sun), Città della Pieve, Assisi (San Francis town) Perugia.
The temperature is perfect because there is always a pleasant breeze: in summer during the day it' s never hot, at night it falls down at 18-20 degree centigrades- IDEAL to sleep. But sometime I prefer to look at the stars with my sons.

Thanks for all the tips for Rome (Senatus) and the walks through the forest for a different view of the sunset . We especially enjoyed the swimming pool, the pool table, the garden and the barbecue So now in dutch: " Het was gezellig, houdoe en bedankt!" Holland

Dear Maria Luisa, after three holidays in Tuscany and one in Umbria (Montefalco and Corbara) we definetely found the fifth at Villa Miralaghi the most wonderful of all. You have the most amazing theories on Italians and pasta, which make no sense at all, but sounded magnificent in that Dalida- kind of french of yours. Many thanks for yours suggestions concerning both the places to visit in the neighbourhood and the nice spots on the property itself. I know you repeatedly invited us to come to your house, but we were too shy and too much impressed to take you up on your offer. Beware for the Sicilian girl, my father always said. My personal comment: Thanks, I like a lot. I will remember your Kindness and all your nice group Belgium

The new spectacle of the fireflies at night

Guest: Karl, Paivi Sydney Australia (california)
Date of Stay: 07/01/11 Review Submitted: 11/05/11

We enjoyed a wonderful family gathering at Villa Miralaghi withi family from Germany, Finland + Australia. Us 3 generations enjoyed Umbria, the view, the cities, the quietness, the breakfasts + dinners out on the terrace, relaxing swims, wildlife including birds, hedgehog and the fabulous fireflies at night. Thank you, Maria Luisa From Sydney
