Accommodations: cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 6)
Keywords: Lake Cottage
"Cottage on the Point" is located on Lake Superior's grand Duluth beach with five miles of extraordinary sand. This historic home, built in the late 1880's, rumored to be a hunting lodge, is now completely restored. Remodeled and redecorated it is full of old Duluth charm and modern conveniences.
The cottage is three miles from the world famous aerial lift bridge and Canal Park activities. It is one and a half miles from the Park Point recreation area with sailing and boat launch facilities. The cottage is located in a residential neighborhood, with private beach access. Step back to a time when the pace was slower and relax in your own private beach cottage.
Park Point offers many wonderful activities and we are prepared to help you enjoy it with four kayaks, one aluminum canoe, two adult life vests and beach mats and towels. Come prepared to enjoy the sun, but if it should rain, you can enjoy the supply of videos, DVD's, games and books perfect for a relaxing vacation.
Don't miss a chance to rent this extraordinary home at a price below the cost of a hotel room or conduminum rental. You can have it all - three large bedrooms, large living room / great hall with gas fireplace, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, front porch, back porch, gas grill and of course the beach - all located in quiet neighborhood. It is the best Duluth has to offer and it is away from the crowds that are found at lakeside hotels and condumiums.
EXTRA BONUS: If you like psychological suspense novels, check out books by award winning author Brian Freeman (bfreemanbooks). Our historic beach cottage will be featured in Freeman's third novel that arrived in bookstores in January 2008, featuring Jonathan Stride and Serena Dial. The forward to this third novel reads: "Much of this novel was conceived and researched in a rental cottage on Park Point in Duluth that bears suspicious similarity to the home now owned by Stride and Serena. Your can actually stay there yourself, or tour the home at cottageonthepoint." Or just send in a VRBO inquiry now for your dates and see if you can enjoy this historic cottage for your vacation.

My wife and I stayed with our 2 1/2 year old for three nights at the cottage. Having a toddler with a lot of food allergies make vacations tough. At the cottage, we have a HUGE and comfortable kitchen to make his meals and then walk to the beach to have fun. Pat is a great host and I would recommend the Beach Cottage to anyone.

We have stayed at several VRBO homes in Duluth and this is by far the best! I hesitate to say how much we like it because you'll never stay at another place and there will not be openings for us. Our stays include all adults and we love the quiet and convenience. But...as I look at all the fun things provided for the younger set I would have to say this home would be perfect for all ages. The kayaks and beach fare all look very inviting. Park Point is close to everything in Duluth. The eclectic neighborhood makes it all even more interesting and inviting. If you go, I know you will enjoy this historical cottage as much as we do.

We had a wonderful time in the cottage! It was so comfortable and cozy. We spent a lot of time on the beach and really appreciated the beach toys, towels, and kayaks. We brought our bikes and it was an easy ride to the shops and restaurants. The kids keep asking when we can go back and we are hoping to make it a family tradition. Pat was a great hostess and we highly recommend staying here.

Many thanks to our gracious hosts for providing the perfect setting for four good friends to spend a night together during Duluth's first major snowstorm. The website information and photos do not do justice to the character, warmth and beauty of this haven near Lake Superior where all you have to do is walk through the front door to feel your body relax and tension disappear. We spent hours sipping wine on the window seats near the cozy fireplace, enjoyed a DVD (provided by the Burns) and slept the night away in beautifully decorated bedrooms. We awoke to enjoy coffee and treats while seated around the charming dining room table and it was with much regret that we said goodbye to the "Cottage on the Point." This place is a treasure; we will return!

We loved the cottage and can't wait to go back ! The owners were very friendly and welcoming. This historic home is larger than we expected after looking at the web photos. It has a giant living room and back porch which the kids loved to play on. Because the walls were so solid, we didn't even hear the kids playing in the other room. It was very peaceful to make dinner while the the house buzzed with activity. The cottage was clean and had comfortable beds. The large front porch was a great place to sit and read. We enjoyed the landscaping on the way to the beach and the kayak's. There were beach towels, toys for the kids, movies, and CDs. We especially enjoyed the close proximity of the Cottage to the beach. Very fairly priced.

The Cottage on the Point is a perfect place for a family vacation. The Burns’ are very gracious hosts and maintain a lovely cottage. Our three boys had a wonderful vacation swimming in Lake Superior, paddling the provided kayaks, playing in the sand, flying kites, and roasting s’mores and hot dogs on the beach. There is plenty of space in the home. The kitchen is well appointed and having a washing machine and dryer makes vacationing with an infant a much more pleasant experience.Duluth is a great town and serves as a great base to explore other parts of the Northland. We look forward to our next visit.

Our family stayed at the Burns' cottage during the week my son was married in Duluth. It was an ideal spot for us to gather and prepare for the celebration together. The house graciously accommodated my 88 year old aunt, two teen agers, and me. There was ample space, charm, comfort, and peace to keep all of us happy. Early morning and late night moonlight walks on the beach provided a calm that promoted good moods and cooperation even with all the commotion of the weekend's events. The details of the decor are imaginative, and in keeping with the age of the home. The Burns are the most cordial hosts, warm and welcoming yet respectful of our privacy. I truly did not want to leave. Pat has provided a great service to the Park Point neighborhood in preserving this historic property. We LOVED this house!

My four sisters and a niece stayed at this rental for a week. We enjoyed sitting around the dining room table in the morning having coffee together and sitting in the huge/comfortable living room in the evening talking or watching movies. The cottage was great, it was clean and comfortable we felt so at home. My sister and I walked the beach every morning, although we got lost the first morning it was great. We felt so at home, it was very relaxing. It was nice knowing that the owners were just a few steps away. This is a place that we would return to without giving it a second thought. Thanks Pat for making our vacation so relaxing.

Spent an enjoyable girls weekend at this wonderfully comfortable and quaint cottage. Rooms were spacious and beautifully furnished with both period pieces and modern conveniences - everything you need for a relaxing stay. Short walk over the dune to Lake Superior would make this a great spot for families or couples wanting to get away from it all. Although we were not able to take advantage of the outdoor amenities the cottage seemed to have everything you would need for a day on the beach. Our only complaint, with 5 women, was the lack of full size mirrors and one bathroom.

My friend and I arrived to a very warm and inviting cottage. It was dark and cold out and the lights were on the temp was comfortable. Everything was as it was described and more. We didn't need a thing! I can see returning for a kayaking adventure with my fellow paddlers, a nice getaway with my husband and a mini vacation with our 2 kids as well maybe even grandparents. Marvelous place to relax. Sig from the Twin Cities
