Brookside is located just up the mountain from Maggie Valley Golf and Country Club. This location is within a five minute drive to most of the fun things to do in and around Maggie Valley. Brookside is the perfect vacation home for a large family, several couples, or a family reunion.

Located on two secluded, wooded acres, this spacious (almost 3,000 square feet), A-frame home features five bedrooms (each with a bathroom) on three levels. A beautiful circular wooden stairway on the main level leads to the two upstairs bedrooms. One bedroom on the lowest level has a large jacuzzi tub in the bedroom. A sleeping loft at the top of the A-frame is accessed by a retractable ladder. The entire house is carpeted except for the kitchen and dining area.

The living area has an 18 foot high ceiling and a ceiling fan. The entire front of the living room is glass, providing an excellent view of the mountains. Three central air conditioners will keep you cool in the hot summer when the shade of the trees do not. In the winter, the stone fireplace in the living room will provide enough heat to warm the upper two floors and gives off romantic lighting.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2003

We are a group of families from Florida and Alabama that own Brookside. We all use Brookside during the year and we rent it out for other families to enjoy.

Why the Owner Chose Maggie Valley

We all love the seasonal activities and the privacy Brookside offers us for a vacation. It is great to enjoy the snow in the winter, the lush forests in the summer, and the fall foliage. The shops and festivals keep it fresh every weekend.

The Unique Benefits of this Chalet

We love to light a fire in winter, use the hot tub, and do some hiking. Many of us play golf and the golf course at Maggie Valley Club is a good challenge. The kids like to ski and tube. The choices in eating are wide and varied for all tastes and budgets.

Thankgiving 2011 - Brookside - Maggie Valley

Guest: RLB1942 (Philadelphia, Mississippi)
Date of Stay: 11/20/11 Review Submitted: 12/07/11

We stayed at “Brookside” the week of Thanksgiving (November 20 – 27, 2011) with our family from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Mississippi. We were a rather large group as our family ranges from 3 years old up to 69 years old. We found “Brookside” to be more than adequate to accommodate our family. Upon our arrival the cabin was clean and well equipped to meet all our needs for the week. Our family enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Several weeks after renting “Brookside” I happened to read the previous review and contacted the property manager and expressed my concern regarding the negative items stated in the review. The property manager responded promptly to my concerns. In fact, after reading the previous review we were surprised on arrival that the cabin was as clean and in such good condition. We expected to encounter many of the problems stated in the review and were surprised when we did not. The downstairs bedrooms did need “airing out” and since it is an older cabin parts could stand updating. Our family enjoyed our stay at “Brookside” and will rent the cabin again when we return to the Maggie Valley area. Thanks for the use of your cabin.

"Brookside" 5 Bedroom Mountain Chalet at Maggie Valley

Large space BUT - Dirty. Gross outdoor areas. PLEASE READ!

Date of Stay: 08/13/11 Review Submitted: 09/06/11

We recently stayed at "Brookside". When we arrived we noticed that some areas weren't as clean as we would like and had to go over the bathrooms and sinks (very hastily wiped with toothpaste spittle still visible. Toilets were really nasty.) Upon choosing a bedroom - there are 5 - I opened the closet to find extra bedding thrown on the floor of one of the two closets. The other one had dirt and debris on the carpet. We didn't set anything on the floor! Two of the bedrooms don't even have closets, so no problem with dirty linens in those rooms! The outdoor areas all have padded cushions on the furniture. Nice? NO WAY! They have never been removed in rain or cleaned. They were soggy, moldy and some even had green moss growing on them! Seriously. The wooden stools outside are falling apart, and the only two non-cushioned chairs were broken. The living room couches were ripped, the porch light didn't work - made it fun coming in at night. Ah, but there's a garage door opener... that has 3 un-labled buttons. It was a joy trying to decipher in what sequence they worked. After 6 days, we never did get it right, just sometimes the door would go up, sometimes we would press away for minutes. There are 2 games (Risk and playing cards) - it says "adult games" (bring your own). The firepit is nice - but not for the unskilled yard climber or to use in the dark because of the unmarked, unleveled slope down to it- and crazy us, we wanted a fire out there one evening! The 2 downstairs bedrooms reek so strongly of musty, mildewy funk, I would caution anyone with allergies from stay down there. We bought SOS pads to clean the cookware to "usable". Oh and to top off the week, there were mice seen the morning we were leaving. INSIDE. Upon contacting the real estate agent that handles this rental, she argued with me regarding some issues, agreed with others, and since they have my money, you know what they've done regarding a refund...NOTHING.

Owner response:We have changed realty management companies and we have a new cleaning crew. In addition, we have added a maintenance crew to help keep everything in good shape inside and outside for our visitors. It is important to report any deficiencies you might find immediately when you occupy the property so we can get them taken care of in a timely manner.
