The King's Cottage - A Very Quiet Northwoods Retreat
- Minimum stay:2 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
In a time when many vacation places are over-built and overcrowded, The King's Cottage offers the perfect retreat amid the quiet of the beautiful North Woods. The King's Cottage is built on 80 wooded acres crossed by nature trails and enclosing two spring-fed lakes. The modern, wood-paneled cabin sleeps four comfortably in its two bedrooms, but the party can be larger if a couple of you want to camp on the campsite beside the smaller lake.
There is enough right on the property to fill your day. If you have brought some reading matter you may just feel like relaxing in the rocking chairs on the screened porch. You may want to fish for bluegill and bass from a rowboat on the smaller lake, or from a canoe on the larger one. You may want to walk through the woods or sit quietly on the overlook bench. Keep your eyes open for wildlife - deer, coyote, red fox, beaver, and bear, as well as grouse and many other kinds of birds, call this home! In the winter there's cross-country skiing.
Off the property, half a mile's walk will take you to Bearskin Creek for trout fishing, or the Bearskin Bike Trail. The Pinewood Country Club, with its eighteen-hole golf course and Dinner Theatre, is two miles away. The shops and restaurants of Minocqua, Tomahawk and Rhinelander are about 15 miles away in various directions. As one of our satisfied guests put it, 'This is a great place to get away from it all and still be able to get back.'

We loved the King's Cottage in the woods. So incredibly quiet and comfortable for my sweetie and I plus our dog. Very convenient location. We did a lot of hiking on the property and in the area (check out McNaughton Lake) and also spent quite a bit of time hanging out at and on both lakes. It was very cozy and met all of our needs. We'll be back!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We had a great time at the cabin. Perfect for my girls (4 & 7) to learn how to canoe. We had a blue gill fish fry on the last night. Both girls caught fish. Then we sat by the campfire and listened to the howling coyotes.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our week is up -- much too soon! Wonderfully sunny -- not too hot -- little humidity. Loved canoeing in the lakes and swimming and just hanging out on the dock. Picked blueberries for breakfast. Caught walleye, perch and big bluegills for supper. Ate great bratwurst at MUSKIE Somebody's on 51 North of Minocqua. It was great to be back in the Northwoods. Love your cabin.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Hi! Greetings from the Northwoods. Love your cabin. The lakes are cold and wonderful. Haven't heard or seen a car all week. It is very hot - but what better place to be. My brother is stopping by tonite. He said it's 109 in Chicago. Love it here!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you, King Family, for allowing us to stay at your charmingly rustic Northwoods cottage. We loved sitting on the screened-in porch, watching the forest and the changing weather. Temperatures ranged from 92 through 36 and back to 80's in the week we were here. But thanks to the modern conveniences of the AC and the old-fashioned iron stove, we stayed safe and comfortable. The cabin felt like "home" so quickly as we used it as a base to explore and revisit the places we've come to love over our 35 years of camping up here. Now, alas, camping days are over. But the cabin let me love the woods again in spite of disabilities. Your cabin decor is sweet, even tasteful, and we had everything we needed here. We each had our laptop computers and used the DSL line -- sometimes right from the porch! Again, thank you. Blessings,Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
