See Forever Cottage: Less Than 5 Minutes to Ski Slopes

See Forever Cottage in Telluride, Colorado is a luxury vacation rental with spectacular views of Telluride's 'fourteener,' mighty Wilson Peak. It's been one of the most popular vacation rentals in the Telluride area for thirty years, since 1979.
This spacious cabin is on its own wooded acres offering plenty of privacy, and yet enjoys excellent close-in access to everything. It's often booked for honeymoons, anniversaries, and by young families.
In addition to the photos, descriptions and reviews here on VRBO, we have more to explore about this very special property -- including actual hand-written cards and letters from our guests after their stay -- on our own ThinkTelluride website. Look for 'Links to More Information' after the Rates section below, and click on 'View Our Website.'
For larger groups, consider our Wilson Peak Retreat, VRBO # 173175. This is a larger 4BR house on the wooded hillside below the See Forever Cottage, on a separate road. These two luxury residences are connected by an outdoor walkway through the woods, that lights up at night if you like. The two homes can be booked separately or together, and the occupants in each enjoy total privacy between the two residences, and from other residences, also on acreage, in the area.
This unique property, our See Forever Cottage, is genuinely a cottage or cabin -- on its own wooded acreage -- and not a condo, or townhouse, etc. There are very few such offerings in the Telluride market, anywhere in or near the Town of Telluride or the Mountain Village. And its on a very quite cul de sac on Sunset Circle in the Telluride Ski Ranches.
The See Forever Cottage is up on Telluride's ski mountain, in a protected 400 acre aspen forest directly adjacent to the Mountain Village area.
Less than 5 minutes by car from the slopes at the new Town Hall Plaza, or one short hop from there to Gondola Plaza in the 'Village Core' via Telluride's free gondola system, where the Ski Valets will wrangle your skis/boots/poles if you like for a modest fee. From the Cottage, it's less than 10 minutes by car down the hill into the Town of Telluride in the box canyon below, or you can ride the gondola into town.
Recently added is Telluride's newest and nicest grocery store, at the new Town Hall Plaza -- again, less than 5 mins from the Cottage. Great produce, butcher shop, wines and spirits, and a private shipping operation shares the new Plaza along with the Mountain Village Town Hall and the clock tower. The gondola runs right from there to Gondola Plaza, and from there, if you like, up to the top of the ski mountain, where you can get off and walk, hike, take photos, etc. -- all for free! If you stay on the gondola at the crest of the ski mountain at San Sophia, the gondola will take you down the other side of the hill into the historic Town of Telluride for restaurants, shopping, etc.
Views, trees, quiet, privacy -- a perfect retreat-like lodging experience, but still so close to everything worth doing in Telluride.
Luxury accommodations and first-class personal service at a surprisingly affordable price.
Non-smoking facility. Sorry, no pets.
P.S. Call us anytime -- including eves or weekends -- from 9am till 9pm Mountain Time, for more info or to book.

David: Our stay at the See Forever Cottage was above and beyond our expectations! We felt so welcomed and well taken care of. There wasn't a day that went by where we didn't find exactly what we needed in the cottage -- it was incredible. (And "A+" on the movie collection!) Your recommendations were spot on. Kate said the steak she had at the Argentine Grill at the Rico Hotel was the best she ever had! And the views and trails at Trout Lake were just terrific. Thank you for the wine -- it was such a sweet gift and was truly enjoyed. Our experience here was most definitely worth repeating in a different season. We'll keep your number and pass on our recommendations to friends and family. Many thanks, Kate & JoshDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

David: Just wanted you to know how much we enjoyed our stay here. The Cottage is so well appointed and supplied, and we really appreciate all the little extra touches and 'goodies.' The bed is really comfy, too! Thanks! Ken & Terri Fort Worth, TX P.S. Thanks also for steering us to the Argentine Grill at the Rico Hotel, and to Butcher and Baker in downtown Telluride. We went to both twice, and got pizza at your suggestion from Aemono's, too. All great places!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The cottage was a great base for our little family--easy drive to Mtn Village or Telluride, or nice to just stay put and enjoy our setting. We have little ones, and the cottage had good touches such as kid-friendly DVDs and a cable setup that included kids' channels that helped during our in-cottage downtime. Really a great value for what you get, staying there was definitely a cut above. The cottage was immaculate when we arrived, tastefully furnished, and the architecture itself makes it a timeless classic. David himself helped us immensely when needed, a sort of guide and host who has connections everywhere. We relied on him for help with everything from finding a sled to helping us with an emergency car rental. Highly recommended all around.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Dear David: Thank you so much for renting us your cabin over the Labor Day holiday. We had an amazing time. From the loft bedroom, waking up every morning to the incredible beauty (and occasional deer) all around us was indescribable! What a unique feature to offer, a bed surrounded with windows to greet you every morning. Your cabin is in our top 10 vacation memories and we so look forward to coming back for all the phases of Telluride's seasons. The beauty of Telluride in summer was absolutely breathtaking. I never knew an alpine village such as this was right here in the USA. Every curve we took on your mountain roads left us speechless. Unimaginable beauty! Thanks again, David. We'll be back!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

we have stayed at the See Forever Cottage for the second time and enjoyed the very personal interior and cosiness. Lots of extras such as latest movies, books, games and treats make you feel truly welcome. The cottage is well maintained and clean, the owner takes excellent care of his guests. Spectacular views and a secluded location in close proximity to the slopes and gondola make this a choice which we would recommend and plan to return to in 2012.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Magical Holiday Vacation!
Magical Holiday Vacation!

When my family was searching for a winter holiday vacation, I ran across this adorably spectacular cottage. Just right for me and my 2 grown children to enjoy our Christmas time together! We flew into Montrose, CO, rented a jeep and half way to our destination, the snow started to fall. We arrived late at night due to a delayed plane ride. The outside lights guided us into our freshly shoveled drive and walkway. We unloaded the car and when we opened the door to See Forever, oh my! Candles and low lighting, holiday music playing and an array of goodies greeted the weary travelers! It was, in a word, perfect! Our host checked with us to make certain we were comfortable and after a little snack and some hot chocolate, we nestled snuggly in our beds. The next week was full of skiing and walking the gorgeous neighborhood, enjoying the fresh food from the local markets, doing last minute shopping, dining in amazing restaurants ... and most of all, just being together in this charming cottage. Conducive to conversation and closeness, we got a chance to spend quality time, catch up on our lives, watch movies, listen to music, take naps ... Really wonderful. Highly recommended for adults or a family with one child. See Forever is completely charming and the epitome of cozy. The amenities were plentiful and unique; walkways were shoveled with each snowfall and all of our questions were addressed promptly and with care. We are hoping to go in the summertime when See Foreveer becomes a tree house. The view is amazing! Many thanks to our hosts for such a magical holiday vacation!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: We're longtime, fulltime locals, offering several terrific vacation rentals here in Telluride at reasonable prices, all of which are here on VRBO (follow the links on the listings), and at our own website (see the link here on this VRBO listing) for more photos, descriptions, etc. I'm a retired music professor, a pianist/arranger/conductor, and I've appeared here with the Telluride Jazz Festival, opened for Stevie Wonder at our beautiful new Conference Center in Telluride's Mountain Village, and for years, toured all over the world with headliners and for the record companies. We live nearby and we're here for you, throughout your stay, for anything you may need. It's a privilege to provide our very special private homes and cabins here in Telluride, and we thoroughly enjoy meeting our guests from all over the U.S. and beyond. And with us, you always deal direct with owners and save.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
The See Forever Cottage, like our new Saddle Horn Retreat (vrbo # 173175), are up on Telluride's ski mountain, directly adjacent to the Mountain Village and the ski resort. The slopes are less than 5 mins by car, with ample parking, at the new Town Hall Plaza, and/or via Telluride's unique free gondola system. One short hop from our new Town Hall Plaza puts you at Gondola Plaza in the 'Village Core,' and 'the Beach,' the center of Telluride's ski operations. This is also very convenient during our summer festival season as well.
We bought the cottage because it offered the best of both worlds: quiet and private, in a 400 acre aspen forest, with spectacular views of our 'fourteener,' Wilson Peak, and yet just around the corner from everything worth doing in Telluride.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
You'll enjoy end-of-the-road privacy on several wooded acres, in a beautiful aspen forest, great place to walk or hike right from the house. Wonderful views, great view terrace with lounge chairs, picnic table and benches, gas grill, etc. Very much what most people dream of when they think of a mountain getaway. Open beams, lots of glass, very open interior with a large open master suite with a series of skylights that look straight up at the stars at night. A sleeping loft looks out at Wilson Peak, particularly beautiful in the purple light of morning. Great fun, and a wonderful alternative to standard hotels or condos. And just about the only thing like it in the Telluride market.
