Clean Comfortable Charm

What a find! Our first experience staying at a VRBO. Quiet and extraordinarily attractive inside and out, this proved to be the perfect introduction to VRBO. The listing description and photos reflected the property accurately, a property that is clean and obviously well maintained. We were able to enjoy it inside and out. The heating system, a boon on cool nights, is quiet and efficient. The decor interestingly eclectic and warm. The beds firm and comfortable. Outside there's a giant avocado tree and lots of other plants one can enjoy from inside the house or from the patio. The highlight may be, as other renters have noted, the scrub jays that will, if one is a bit patient, snatch peanuts from one's fingers. The property manager was very helpful; he not only introduced us to the property but drew excellent maps to facilitate our exploration of the area.

We recently stayed at The Treehouse. The property is very convienent to everything. Comfortable, clean and very secure. The Treehouse has a large tree in front of the porch and allows for making friends with 2 chipmonks and 2 bluejays. We had a great time feeding them peanuts which were supplied. Great value.

My husband and I recently returned from our second month-long rental at the Tree House. The comments I read below continue to be accurate and deservingly very positive. This is a great hideaway, quiet and in an excellent neighborhood with boat docks across the street, yet the apartment itself is hidden behind lush foliage and provides plenty of privacy. The "cottage" contiues to be very clean, well-stocked and comfortable. Restaurants, shops, beaches and Marine Stadium are within easy walking distance. A local squirrel makes his rounds almost daily, turning up in the huge avocado tree for a free peanut if you are willing to share. The pleasant manager/agent, Bob Drury, continues to assist if needed and makes sure the property is well maintained. This place really is a gem and we will continue to regularly rent it. My wife, daughter (2 year old), and I stayed here for 1 week. The place has lots of personality in a very tasteful way. The front yard is secluded (with locking tall gates in the back and front) with the large avocado tree, a guava tree, and a banana tree in addition to other trees and bushes with an open center (surrounding the avocado) which creates a beautiful feel. There are also squirrels and bluejays which are tame and will eat peanuts from your hand (the bluejay actually flew up and plucked a peanut from my hand multiple times - quite amazing). The inside of the house is decorated with I believe central american art (hanging, sculptures, and blankets) which gives the interior a slightly exotic feel, but just the right amount (fits with the yard). Everything is very clean and well made. Our 2 year old loved it. It was particularly striking when compared with the house we rented 1 week earlier which was completely without decoration, similar in cleanliness (totally clean) but was totally sterile. This place is the opposite of sterile. Bob Drury, who managed the apartment was perfect. He gave a detailed tour of the place at the beginning and I was very comfortable that if anything came up he was just a phone call away (he even called to check on us). We'll be coming back here for sure!

We stayed for 5 days at the Tree House and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We comprised 2 adults and 2 young children, and fitted well (despite it nominally only being 1 bedroom). Children slept happily on the fold out bed and the single sofa. We loved the central location close to the canal with the nearby beaches on the canal/estauries, and it proved to be a good base to see the sights around LA. The living area is comfortable, and facilities such as TV/Cable and Internet worked well. We also enjoyed the lovely garden with bluebirds, and facilities such as the ping pong table helped entertain our kids.

I just wanted to drop a note to say what a wonderful time we had at the Tree House recently. The property is quiet and private, having the feel of a sanctuary or oasis, which is just what we were hoping for. There is plenty of room for two in the unit itself. It is fully appointed in a tasteful, casual and very comfortable manner with everything we needed to relax, cook, and have a couple friends visit. The yard is a terrific space, private and spacious, with a fountain and string of romantic lantern lights in the giant avocado tree – barbequing, outdoor dining and the greatest ping-pong table on the west coast are also highlights. We came to the Tree House for an anniversary vacation and a trip back home, the first one since having to sell our family’s house in Long Beach after a parent’s passing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (extended it a few days and found it very hard to leave!) and feel as though we have found another home in the old neighborhood. It is a very welcoming and friendly place with local beach roots that we also share and greatly appreciate. We thoroughly enjoyed the easy bicycle access along the shore and in town, and the short drive to a variety of surfing beaches just down the coast. The Tree House location is central and convenient to the area and surroundings. We hope to spend more time and celebrate anniversaries there again and again. Thank you Willa and Bob for your graciousness.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely stay at this hideaway cottage. Located within walking distance of the happening Belmont Shores area, restaurant row along Naples Island, and Bay Shore Beach and Long Beach, we found endless activities drawing our attention but balanced it out with relaxing moments enjoying the thriving interior garden, shade from the mature avocado tree, and tastefully appointed acomodations. The Tree House is the perfect vacation spot mixing the character of California's history with modern conveniences. Enjoy! The Graftons.

My family recently stayed at this property and would love to come back any time. Bob was great! The property was absolutely awesome. It is walking distance to Belmont Shores, where there is a great deal of local dining and shopping. It is also walking distance to a bay beach where you can swim. The courtyard on the property is perfect for cookouts and ping pong tournaments. I highly recommend this property. It has so much character, this is one of the most memorable properties where we have stayed.
