Each side of the one-floor duplex has three bedrooms and two baths, accommodating up to 10 persons on each side, and may be rented separately or together - perfect for a family reunion or a group get-together with friends, fishing buddies, church or social groups. Both units are fully furnished and comfortably equipped. Sleeping accommodations conveniently include all bath towels and bed linens.
Our bright and spacious beachside home is nestled in the barrier dunes of Dauphin Island's beautiful private, gated, east end Gulf-front community, Audubon Place, with a spectacular view of the Gulf from the private, covered front porch.
We are located on the cul-de-sac of the one and only private street. It's a short stroll across down the community boardwalk to the secluded beach.
You can tour a Civil War fort, take a ferry ride across the bay, see the live displays at the Sea Lab Estuarium, go fishing - shore, pier or deep sea - take a boat ride, rent a kayak, ride your bike, sample local restaurants and shopping, or spot the wildlife at the world famous Audubon nature preserve which borders the eastern edge of Audubon Place. Everything is close at hand.
Each of the mirror-image, side-by-side units has two baths and three spacious bedrooms - one king, two queens, two twins and a pull-out sofabed in the living room. The master bedroom bath has a jetted tub and separate shower. Kitchens include all necessities: dishes, cookware, serving ware, utensils, glassware, and appliances: refrigerator, range, microwave, disposal, dishwasher, washer and dryer. There are gas grills and a picnic table underneath the house. (Note: charcoal grills are not allowed anywhere on the property.)
Bring your beach towels, suntan lotion and sandals and leave the stress behind as you recharge your batteries on glorious Dauphin Island, the island that time forgot.
DEPOSIT POLICY
$400 advance deposit. All of the deposit will be returned to you after departure provided there is no damage, the unit is left tidy, all dishes have been cleaned and neatly put away and all trash is placed in the proper outside container. Excessive cleaning after departure will be considered damage.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Your reservation deposit automatically converts to a damage deposit at check-in. If a deposit check is not received within 10 days of making the reservation, the reservation will be canceled without notice.
For rentals occurring during summer season, if it is necessary to cancel reservations or change unit/dates a full refund will be made, less $30 for expenses, if the reservation is cancelled or changed more than 60 days prior to the arrival date. If the cancellation/change is made with less than 60 days notice prior to the arrival date a full refund will be made, less $30, provided we can re-rent the house for the same time period and rate. If the unit cannot be re-rented the entire deposit will be forfeited to the unit owner.
For rentals occurring during winter, spring & fall season, a full refund will be made, less $30 for expenses, if it is necessary to change or cancel reservations more than 30 days prior to the arrival date. If the cancellation/change is made less than 30 days prior to the rental a full refund will be made, less $30, provided we can re-rent the house for the same time period and rate. If the unit cannot be re-rented the deposit will be forfeited to the unit owner.
Cancellations, late arrivals or early departures due to inclement weather do not warrant any refund of rent or deposit. There are no exceptions to the cancellation/change policy due to personal circumstances. Please note that no refunds or discounts are given for power outages or mechanical failures of household appliances or utilities featured. We will make every effort to repair or replace such items.
HURRICANE POLICY
If we are put under a hurricane warning and authorities issue a “Mandatory Evacuation” order for Dauphin Island, we will prorate your rent and credit you for the number of nights you could not occupy the unit. The money will be refunded along with your security deposit as soon as it is possible considering the conditions. In the case of a “Voluntary Evacuation” leaving will be at your discretion. No refunds will be given in the case of a voluntary evacuation.
PAYMENT
Full payment of the rent, taxes and applicable fees is due upon arrival. For rental payment we accept cash, personal checks, traveler's checks, certified checks, MasterCard and Visa. We accept American Express and Discover cards with a 3% convenience fee.

About the owner: We are a mature (i.e., old) couple and we've loved the Gulf of Mexico for over 25 years, vacationing with our kids all along the west coast of Florida. We first discovered Dauphin Island in 2004 when we ventured west and did some exploring around Mobile Bay. The island captivated us from the first time we crossed the bridge and we bought our beach duplex a year later. We hope the island will enchant you, too, that you will enjoy your stay here and want to return..

We fell in love with this little piece of paradise the first time we crossed that causeway. We are always impressed and thankful for the relaxed and friendly folks who llive in and visit Dauphin Island, the laid back feel of the place, and island life in general. The Estuarium, the Fort, the ferry, the fishing, the bird sanctuary, the miles of beach and the view of Gulf water everywhere - what else could beach folks want?
