Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: Jim and Cheri purchased 100 acres in 1996 from some lovely german owners. It grew to 200 acres in 2000. We built the Lodge in 1997 and lived in it while building our new home in 2001. The oldest of 9 children, Jim's family visits by the dozens, so we used the lodge for overflow. In 2004 we became licensed for a 'bed and coffee', which means to our guests, a nice basket of fresh assorted fruits, good coffee in the freezer door, and fresh eggs to pick for your own culinary breakfasts.
Why the Owner Chose Winona: We felt like Winona was lacking lodging that allowed folks to prepare their own meals and simply relax in comfort surrounded by nature. Not having cell signal is a blessing and a curse, but by and large, it seems to have a calming effect on those that stay. Families make memories, brides and grooms honeymoon, children love picking eggs and playing in our shallow creek. Heaven's Valley has a kicked back feeling, kind of like your hosts...:) we wanted to share our little slice of heaven on earth.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge: Being able to look out the window and see fawns prancing in the spring, or a gaggle of turkeys walking single file to the creek, or that first Bluebird or Baltimore Oriole on the deck railing, or hearing the owls hooting at night, makes Heaven's Valley a special place. It makes us count our blessings and give thanks.
