The Castaway was a perfect rental for our vacation! It is very clean and nicely decorated (with very beach-y decor). Although it looks small from outside, it is actually very spacious inside--the living room, dining area, and kitchen have an open floor plan and makes the house feel pretty big. The bedrooms are a little on the smaller side, but there's plenty of storage space, and besides, you'll be at the beautiful beaches all day, not in your room! The owners are very friendly and accommodating, and it really does feel like a home since it is fully furnished. You won't even need to bring beach chairs, or any beach supplies for that matter (except a cooler), since they provide chairs, an umbrella, boogie boards, sand toys, and a huge wagon to carry everything in. And the best part of all: it's totally pet friendly. Finally, a few tips if this is your first time to Fort Morgan: -this is pretty much the only stretch of the gulf coast that has dog-friendly beaches. -you don't need to bring any nice clothes. They best places to eat are in Fort Morgan and are super-casual beach joints with great views of the bay. -If you want a nice, relaxing trip, then I would try to avoid Gulf Shores as much as possible. We tried it out, and it was very crowded, loud--much like spring break, only during May. And the restaurants were absolutely terrible. The lines were long, and the food was Horrible. I mean, truly disgusting.

We enjoyed our stay at Castaway. Although Tropical Storm Lee joined us, we were able to simply relax! The house is clean and cozy with all the amenities of home. We were especially thankful we could bring our dog, Josey. She enjoyed relaxing just as much as we did!! We look forward to our next stay at Castaway! :)

We were more than happy with our quaint little beach house. It was a short walk to the wonderful beach. We brought sand toys with us but it wasn't necessary. There were a lot of sand toys already there. The wagon was extremely handy to have. The beds were nice and clean. The washer and dryer were an added bonus. I came home with hardly any vacation laundry. When we arrived the fridge wasn't keeping things cool. I called the owner and there was a repairman there within 30 minutes! It turned out that the vent in the back just needed to be vacuumed. I was impressed at how fast someone arrived to fix it. Since the house is located where there are other privately owned homes, the beach was uncrowded. We saw dolphins out in the water each day! We had a wonderful experience and we would recommend it to anyone!

Great Little Vacation House

I had a very relaxing stay at Castaway with my toy poodle. The house was clean, comfortable and lovely. Fort Morgan isn't as crowded as other beaches and there is a park at the remains of the actual fort if you feel like doing a little sight-seeing in the area. This is a great location for a little quiet "down time." I'd definitely recommend this rental to others seeking a cozy spot near the beach.

The Charming Castaway

My family and I stayed at Castaway from May 13-May 20th and I couldn't be happier. Janice (the owner) was always very responsive and made sure that all of our needs and questions were met. While we were there, we went to the beach every day and it was beautiful. All of the neighbors on the way to the beach were very friendly as well. We got to see dolphins every day, we saw some people catching fish and they even caught a small shark off the beach, and we had no one to bother us while we were on the beach. It's basically the most remote location with very few people around, which is great compared to the busy part of Gulf Shores. We have a 2 month old baby and a dog and everything was perfect. The house is cozy, with comfy beds and a great kitchen to keep all of your food items in tact. The dishes, silverware, and appliances were all very clean and kept up. Their washer and dryer were very useful too because we washed everything before we left so we didn't have to when we got back home. Overall, the location, the atmosphere, decorations, etc. were above par and everything went well. Fort Morgan is a cheap day of fun with tons of history! Tacky Jacks has great food and service, and the drive into Gulf Shores is beautiful. If we go back to Gulf Shores/Ft. Morgan, I'll definitely consider staying at Castaway again! A+ by my standards, which are very high. Have no worries as this will be the best decision you've ever made when picking a beach house for a relaxing, enjoyable vacation! Getaway Time

Everything you need is furnished; very clean; large open kitchen and living room areas. Sunny and bright; views of Bay and Gulf from upper deck. Walk one block to sandy Gulf beach. Pet friendly. Owner very friendly and prompt to answer questions. Marina nearby. Penisula offers seclusion. Ft Morgan 2.5 miles away. Would stay there again and would recommend to friends.

When I rented the Castaway home on line my only concern was being near the ocean. I arrived at the home to find it immaculate and beautifully decorated. The colors are so relaxing. The colors are complemented by the sun streaming through the windows. All of the appliances worked efficiently, although I must admit I only cooked a real meal once. The short walk to the beach is made pleasant by all of the friendly and interesting neighbors. Once on the beach we frequently saw dolphins very close to the shore. Every morning when I turned on the coffee pot I would gaze out the kitchen window to enjoy the view of the bay. We enjoyed walking to Tacky Jack's for a couple of meals... their grilled sea bass is so good! This is a great place for dogs. All of the dog owners on the beach are very responsible and most of the dogs get along very well. We did have some cold, windy days and a couple of rainy days. The home is so comfortable and peaceful that on those days I just relaxed and read books. I am so grateful that I found this wonderful home and fabulous location. I would love to come back next year around the same time. I bet it is awesome in the summer as well, but that is my busy work time. We've just returned from a great stay at "Castaway" and had a wonderful vacation thanks to this "home away from home". It is very nicely furnished with everything you need to feel at home and is clean and beautifully decorated. We especially appreciated the wagon to get all our stuff down to the beach and were glad we didn't have to pack our own beach chairs because they were provided. We all agreed that this was a great location and lovely house and will definitely plan to stay here again.

We stayed at this beach house in 2005 and are booked again for 2006. You will not find a better beach house or owners. Every thing that you need to enjoy your vacation is made available by the Warren's and then some. We have stayed at several other beach houses in the area but there is no comparison due to the owners willingness to make your stay one to remember, by provideing beach toys and other ammenities you just can't find at other houses.

Great place to relax and enjoy beach life! Everything you could ever need is provided in this beautiful home. Very clean! Owner is extremly prompt with answering any question you have. The little walk to the beach is easy with the nice beach wagon provided. Beach chairs and sand toys in abundance! Kitchen is well stocked as well! We loved our stay here.
