We rented this property for 2 weeks in August and had a wonderful time. The rustic nature of the house and caboose (literally a train caboose on the property....that has been so meticulously and sensibly outfitted with room for 5 to sleep, a TV, A/C, Fridge, Sink and more) were a natural complement to the awesome waterfront. My kids and their cousins (ages ranging from 7 to 11) loved crabbing, kayaking, swinging on the great swing hanging from the tree on the front lawn, ping pong, playing in the caboose and more. We all also enjoyed the pool and hot tub! The creek was teeming with life! We loved to watch the Osprey, Herons, Egrets, crabs, fish and deer. The kids got completely into "crabbing" and we learned to identify the males vs females (let the females be free) and ended up learning how to measure, clean and cook blue crabs. Walking down to the dock each morning with coffee in hand (the coffee maker is fantastic) and observing nature was a tranquil and energizing way to start the day. We made great use of the Kayaks and Canoe for several trips. (wish there were a few more kid sized life vests, but it all worked out). We also made use of the bikes to ride around the wonderfully flat roads in West Hampton. The beach, Cupsogue, is about a 20 minute drive, but worth it for the waves and for an evening or two of live music and fun! The owner of the house is great, very accessible, easy going and reasonable. Highly recommend this propertyRecommended for: Girls getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.

We had a family reunion for a week starting July 3rd, 2010 and we really had a wonderful time. We had five teenagers, three couples and my 80 year old dad for the week. The three boys took over the caboose - and though quite rustic - they had a great time; the caboose was comfy with AC and shower/head. We played tennis once - but with 100 degree heat wave was too hot to play tennis - but the court is great BTW. We loved early-morn scenic kayaking down the creek to the bay - watching for Osprey, Herons, Red-tailed hawks - a tranquil ride. The kids & adults fished off the dock - and we dropped the crab traps in as well. We enjoyed steamed blue crabs for appetizers two nights in a row - and I taught the kids how to tell the girl crabs from boy crabs - so they could throw the girls back into the creek - good stewardship. The dinghy was fun for fishing as well - and/or exploring the creek. And the kids learned how to sail on the sunfish in the creek and had a blast (e.g. make sure to go at high tide). (They went out and bought their very own sunfish since!) We found the game of Risk in the basement and had a ongoing nightly game the entire week we were there - huge fun. Cupsogue Beach - Westhampton - is a 20 min drive away and only an $10 entry fee is required - free parking after 4:30 pm. Beautiful Atlantic Ocean beach. The swimming pool was a hit - and a welcome relief during the hot week we stayed. Westhampton town is quaint - would jog over for breakfast. I think we will be back...Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

I rented the property for a week in August and there were 10 of us. There are two master bedroom suites and a third bathroom to be shared by the other two bedrooms. All the rooms were airy, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The entire house is very well decorated and had everything you would need in a home away from home. All the amenities were in working order, and we enjoyed kayaking, playing tennis, swimming in the pool and later enjoying the hot tub. We played ping pong, the kids really loved the caboose (which could have held an additional 5 people if necessary, and which had its own bathroom and shower). We took our 25" fishing boat and moored it right in the back of the yard, and went fishing in it several times. The owner of the house is great. Very easy going, friendly and helpful. We spent a wonderful week at this house and recommend it highly for a family or two. Lots to do in a beautiful environment.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, families with teenagers, age 55+.

My family and I just returned from our vacation and had a great time. The house is in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed every ammenity - pool, tennis and kayaking.
