Dear Steve, We can't thank you enough for all of your “aloha” hospitality. We have been to resorts all over the world and our one week at your resort was by far the best vacation we have ever had. “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.” The beaches across from your property were so secluded, and we especially enjoyed swimming and fishing in your lake. We caught many bass and catfish. Rowing on the lake at night was so romantic. We even drifted to sleep on the lake one night. All your personal suggestions were great. We'll be back for a longer stay next time. H. & J. Bruno Laguna Hills, CADid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Posted by guest on trip advisor May 2010 The house sits on several acres of impeccably maintained gardens. From the living room/kitchen, open the door and hear the birds, see the swans on the private lake, take one of the kayaks out for a spin and get really close to them. From the house the views of the gardens and lake are enjoyable too because the windows are all huge, so it seems like you're outside. We enjoyed family bbqs on the porch, we relaxed on the sandy beach on the lake, and felt really lucky to have found this place. Guest rating five starsDid you find this review helpful? Posted by guest on trip advisor We stayed at the estate for my mother's 70th birthday. We've stayed at other placees on the island, but this is by far our favorite. Our group included people of all ages (including a 1 year old and 6 year old). It was an ideal setting. The estate has room for everyone (much of it outside) so each person felt like they could find their own space and place to be. Our hosts were incredibly helpful helping us to find the beaches, resturaunts, etc. that would be great for our family. It was also really clear that the owners care about the land and the island... I hope to come back soon. Guest rating five starsDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The pictures don't do justice to the property. It is so much better than we thought it would be. Loved the feeling of living in a botanical garden surrounded by water on all sides. Thank you for an unforgettable experience. We'll be back soon. S. Lawrence San Francisco, CA No place on earth could be any better than this. Simply paradise. The trade winds will blow for a very long time with lots of pleasant memories on behalf of our group. T. Moriarty Indianapolis, IN All honeymoons should be spent on this secluded paradise. Your private beach was soooo perfect we never wanted to go anywhere else. C. & S. Jackson Vista, CA Kilauea Lakeside is truly the treat of a lifetime. We'll never want to stay in a condo or hotel again. We all felt the like kids on your Tom Sawyer's island. We kayaked from your dock and used the rope swings and tree houses nearly every day. L. & M. Stuart San Rafael, CA Somewhere out there, lurking below the surface, is a very large bass with two fish hooks. I'll be back for him. This place is truly paradise. J. Casey Hermosa Beach, CA I promise not to tell anyone how great the fishing was in your lake. The electric boat make it easy to catch good sized bass everyday and my friend's son caught a catfish nearly half his size. H. Patterson San Jose, CA Today's the day we leave paradise. What a wonderful honeymoon. It was so refreshing to be surrounded with nature so beautiful and unspoiled. Kayaking around the lake was a blast. In fact everything was, including the island, we even got out to see a few sights. Steve, thank you a thousand times for making this the vacation of a lifetime. A. & K. Ratte Peraita, NM Each day became another “gift” in this most incredible paradise. Didn't make it south at all - just wanted to swim, kayak, hike and enjoy the beauty right here at our fingertips on your property. ThaDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Posted by guest on trip advisor We found Lakeside quite by accident from the net in 1997...I had been to Kauai before and thought the Garden Island would make a great part of the honeymoon with my sweet wife Bonnie. We spent a second week on a friend's boat in New Zealand .... haven't been back to NZ but I can't remember how many times we have returned to Lakeside .... If you think the word "Aloha" just means hello or goodbye you don't get it ...yet. It means so much more. Hard to explain but easy to understand. But you will experience it from the moment you meet the owners Steve and Janine Hunt until ... well I don't know until when ... we're still friends 13 years later. Their genuine care of the quality of your time on their island in their eco-friendly home can be felt the moment you come down the long driveway up the hill from the two-lane road that horseshoes the island. The house is warm and inviting and the sense of all the good times that have happened there are easily felt. After you unpack and get the trip off you ... take your favorite beverage and walk the grounds ....well tended and fruitful ...or sit on one of the decks and look for Arthur (that what we call him) the big white swan... The Hunts have tons of resources on the island from a fun-loving scuba master to great places for food. Your vacation will be as busy or laid-back as you want it to be. Treat yourself to this present. You will be back too. guest rating five starsDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Posted on trip advisor May 21, 2010 We have stayed at Kilauea Lakeside Estate four times over the last ten years and love it. Our children have room to play outside, the beaches that are close by are pristine and the estate itself is gorgeous and perfectly maintained. We love going to the nearby Farmer's markets for fresh fruit and vegetables. On our snorkeling adventures we have seen turtles and hundreds of colorful fish. Bring an underwater camera with you. The beaches are clean and the nights are especially lovely. We sat outside on the patio and played cards with our friends till after midnight. Thank you we cannot wait to return. Posted by guest on trip advisor What a unique place to stay and experience the real Kauai! Not exactly off the beaten path, not exactly in the bustle of town, this house is all time if you're looking for great hospitality, a beautiful house, fun things to do, and true immersion in the garden island. As you arrive down a private drive you're greeted by rows of plumerias, tropical orchards, and a view of the lake you'll be enjoying... instantly you're in paradise. Fish, golf, hike, kayak--it's all there for you. Or just relax in the redesigned house... we were told it's eco conscience and sustainable, which was cool. It's also beautifully appointed with decor from Bali and plush decor. Full kitchen, insane views throughout. And when you're ready to get off the property (why would you), the property owners are very helpful. They showed us all the best secluded beaches, restaurants, hiking trails, surf spots, and waterfalls--we were instant locals! Unfortunately I had to work a little, but it was sweet because the house is wired for WI-FI. This house is in the middle of the jungle on a private lake with a golf hole even... don't miss out on this one... we'll be back for sure! Posted by guest on trip advisor June 2, 2010 My wife and I have been contemplating a return to Kilauea Lakeside Estate for some time now. After a couple magical stays in the early 2000s, we got married there in 2002 in front of 75 of our closest friends and relatives. They all fell in love with the place, and the glowing feedback continues to this day. The reason I am leaving this review now is that, after perusing the Trip Advisor information on the estate a few weeks ago, I was shocked to see a negative review (the only one I have ever seen regarding this property). I’m dubious of its legitimacy, but I still feel compelled to set the record straight. It’s hard to exaggerate how special this place is. The combination of dramatic tropical beauty, remarkable tranquility and privacy, comfort and understated elegance, with the sheer size of the property and incredible opportunities for exploration and activity make Kilauea Lakeside Estate truly unique. It honestly was like having an entire resort to ourselves. From kayaking and swimming (after leaping from the rope swing) in the private lake to trying to identify the countless tropical bird species on the property to practicing drives and putts (and Frisbee throws) on the par-3 golf hole to collecting breakfast from the numerous fruit trees dotting the property (and contemplating fishing for dinner), it’s a wonder we found the self-discipline to ever leave the place to explore the magnificent nearby beaches and rivers. Though unnecessary (in our view), it seems that the property has been dramatically upgraded since our last visit. Top of the line kitchen appliances, Balinese-style furnishing and art, and Wi-Fi put the place over-the-top. And, the estate’s upgraded green credentials (fully sustainable with solar power and its own water supply) are an added bonus that really appeals to us. If nothing else, I’ve now convinced myself that we need to go back….soon. The only question remaining is whether we bring the 3 young children who have joined our family since our last stay.....or keep the place to ourselves!!!! Posted by guest on trip advisor A week wasn't long enough. Beautifully landscaped property, perfect location-very private, awesome private lake, couldn't of asked for a better trip. Not far drive from main town. Although we never really wanted to leave property. Had breakfast every morning on the patio, took the boat out to relax on lake after. Napped in the hammock, tanned on lawn. Went for walks around property. Can't remember the last time I felt that relaxed! Highly recommended to all!Did you find this review helpful?
