Gulf-Front Living on Private Siesta Key Beach!
- Minimum stay:N/A

- Wheel chair accessible:No
You can't get any closer to the Gulf than in this condo on the westernmost point of Siesta Key! Nestled between two jetties of rocks which keep this section of beach essentially private, Whisperings Sands is a quiet community just north of famous Crescent Beach. When the tide is out, you can walk the whole stretch of Siesta Beach to the Point of Rocks. Because it sits on a point of land that juts out into the Gulf, your view of boats and dolphins coming and going through the Pass at the north end of the key exceeds that from any other observation point on the island. This is Gulf-front living at its best!
You can hear the waves from your bedroom at night. The morning lights up the lush lagoon to the east of the condo. The golden afternoon sun brightens the living room and the master bedroom. As you sit on the balcony, the sunsets over the Gulf are so varied in color and intensity that you will never tire of watching.
Indulge yourself with two to twelve months of pure luxury! (sorry, no short-term rentals) Live on the beach while you remodel your home, write your novel, study the habits of nesting turtles or of the dolphins frolicking in the surf, or simply relax and meditate on the wonder of the beauty around you!
This second-floor unit lets you enjoy the feeling of being right on the beach, while having the security of a building with a key entry. Be as private or as sociable as you want. You can buzz your friends in at your convenience. Use the single flight of stairs when your goal is to stay fit. Or take the elevator for handicapped access or any time that it is more convenient. There is a heated pool a few steps from your door, right on the Gulf, or a second one at the clubhouse -- where you’ll also find other activities like movie nights, covered dish dinners and a weight room for your work-outs. The covered Tiki Hut with picnic table, grill and shower is set in the dunes north of the condo. A game of shuffleboard is just outside, or a game of pool is even closer a few doors down the hall in the community lounge, which overlooks the Gulf.
The large master bedroom overlooks the Gulf, with access to the balcony and to a sitting area and walk-in closet, which adjoin the bath area. It is newly furnished with a king-sized bed, plush with pillows and 300-count sheets. The second bedroom, with its view of the lagoon, has twin beds. The dining area adjoins the living room, which, like the bedroom, has a wall of sliding glass doors overlooking the Gulf; these give expansive views from inside the unit and easy access to the balcony from either room. The kitchen has tract lighting, lots of cabinets and open counter space, and a window looking toward the lagoon.
On the Gulf side of your condo you will enjoy cool walks in the morning shade on the beach. On sunny afternoons, you can be in the surf or at the pool. You’ll see dolphins playing and pelicans swooping for fish up close. You can watch sailboats, fishing boats and, on the 4th of July, speed boat races. You’ll see spectacular sunsets, and the full moon will shine into your bedroom at night. As an extra bonus, looking to the east out your front door and out the window of the second bedroom, is a verdant, tropical view over a lagoon, where you can watch ducks and cormorants fishing. You get double waterfront!
Celebrated for its powdery white sand*, nearby Siesta Key Public Beach offers recreational facilities, picnic sites, and life guards. If the tide is low, you can walk around the point at the south end of our beach and the whole length of Crescent Beach to the Point of Rocks 3.5 miles away. When the tide is high, the public beach is a quick walk, bike ride or drive of about one mile.
Just outside the Whispering Sands entrance is Siesta Village, a short stroll away. You will be close enough to enjoy the restaurants and pubs, the shops, the bands and the dancing. But you can simply slip back home for total peace and quiet.
* Siesta Key is recognized for its sand of pure quartz crystal. The beach here doesn't get as hot in the full sun as other beaches do; instead, it stays cool and silky feeling. Siesta Key has been rated one of the "10 best beaches for families" by TravelChannel and as the only Florida beach on its list of "10 best beaches for romance." And you will often find that you can have this little stretch of the beach essentially to yourself!
To check out the spot from a satellite view, input "Siesta Key, Sarasota" and focus in on the westernmost point of the island and the stretch of beach just south of that point. You will see the towers, the pool, and the wide open Gulf...

Gulf front is no exaggeration! This spacious condo is literally steps from the beautiful siesta key sand and a really easy walk to the village with abundant shops and restaurants. I've come to Siesta Key for years and there are very few places that you get both. I've never found one! With the exception of excursions to downtown Sarasota, we never had to get in our car. I loved being on the 2nd floor. We felt comfortable leaving the wide, sliding glass doors in the bedroom open day and night but we weren't too high up to have a view of the beach. In addition, there's a very friendly security patrol at all times. Likely because they don't allow daily/weekly rentals property wide, you have mostly permanent residents which I think maintains the calm and home-like environment we were looking for at the beach. There are ample beach chairs available by the heated pool as well as on the sand. It's like being at a resort (maybe except for room service). The kitchen was well stocked with place settings and bigger than I expected for a condo. We did a lot of cooking and eating out on the fabulous balcony while we were here. The two bedrooms and master bathroom are surprisingly spacious. I really liked having the walk-in closet and extra dresser. Even if you're only bringing a few months worth of things, it provides a great space to stash them and keep the bedroom clutter free. We didn't wish for one additional thing during our stay except maybe more time. We can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Best place to stay EVER! Actually, the only complaint I have about staying at Wispering Sands was that we had to leave. The rooms were comfortably furnished, spacious, inviting, recently updated, and extremely clean. The balconies proivided an almost 180 degree view of the Gulf with it's striking green-blue water. Waking up with that view could almost match going to sleep listening to the waves on the beach. The private beach had that famous Siesta Key sand, great people watching, and kids for your kids to play with (always a plus). Naturalists will love the bird, dolphin, and manatee watching, and a quick 5 minute walk to the Siesta Key village with its many restaurants and shops makes this location just about perfect. The only problem is you also will have to leave.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

About the owner: We are a semi-retired couple. That is, Mike is retired after 30 years with IRS and now has a little business through which he helps people who have tax-collection problems. AnnaMarie stayed home for many years with young children, then as a home-schooling mom. She is now working as a Vocational Counselor with Rehabilitation Services in Georgia. We hope to live on Siesta Key as soon as possible, but we have grandchildren in Georgia, so we haven't been able to pull ourselves away yet...
Why the Owner Chose Other Sarasota Properties:
This condo is our dream retirement spot. It is right on the Gulf, in the middle of a charming community that encourages healthy outdoor living. Sarasota is the perfect mix of culture and relaxation.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
There is never a time when the weather is not perfect. In the summer there is a constant sea breeze; in the winter the "cold" days are hardly chilly by most standards. And the view from the condo is always spectacular!
