This listing was not accurate. The kiddie beach is a harbour that had broken beer bottle glass and ciggarette butts scattered all over. The condo was filthy, toilet had urine stained around it, shower has tons of mold and there were tons of ants crawling over the counters and the dishes in the cabinets had food crusted to them and were clearly dirty. The condo was renevated very poorly/sloppy (grout all up the wall in the bathroom) the cabinets smelled like an outhouse and it was overall gross. The swimming pool was ice cold, even on the hottest day it was not pleasant. I ended up getting so sick that I was in urgent care and in bed for the last 7 days of my trip. I definately would not recomend this place. The photo of the condo on the beach is not this one (I would like to know where the sand went?? Very misleading, just because it was decorated in pier one imports, does not mean its nice or clean. The day we arrived she had the cleaner come again....I saw no difference she was there for 10 min. she did get an exterminator but seriously, thats not what you want to see on vacation (the ant problem did not go away). The resturant on the main floor is closed for business as well.
Owner response:Wow, can not believe all this happened in the 5 days in-between guests that gave it an outstanding review. Guests arrived at 8 PM and called me to say they were not happy with the cleanliness of the condo. I immediately went over to see what they meant and called in the cleaner to take care of the items of concern to the guests. The cleaner came over at eight thirty PM. The guests communicated to me about their horrendous day of travel from early that morning and I suggested they go out to dinner since they hadn't eaten most of the day while the cleaner re-cleaned to their satisfaction. The cleaner was there for an hour while the guests were out at dinner. The condo was not filthy, did not have urine stained around the toilet and there was no mold in the shower. I know this because I bring over refrigerator treats for all incoming guests and do a quick once-over. I never would have allowed a condo in a state such as reported to be rented. That said, I am always willing to work with guests to make their stay a pleasant one, even it it means moving them to another condo for their stay. I just need to know how unhappy one might be. Just to clarify some facts: all beaches in Hawaii belong to and are open to the public. Our kiddie beach included. The community association holds monthly beach clean-ups and many just visiting the beach pick up trash when they see it. The ants: we occasionally have little sugar cane ants and the condo building itself is serviced every 2 months by a pest management service. They come out special to take care of any problems in-between the servicing. There is no exterminator, just a visit by the pest management company to re-treat. I would not characterize the ant problem as tons as I saw then with my own eyes. Photos: The photos are accurate. There is a 4-mile white sandy beach for swimming and walking at the end of our dead-end road. One of the pictures on the website is of the beach. On the website and in the materials sent to incoming guests clearly states where this beach is. Restaurant: The Waterfront Restaurant, once located in our condo building has expanded and is now located in the shopping center up the street by the Aquarium. It was only open for dinner when located at the condo building. Now it can open for lunch and has expanded parking. The condo where it was once located is up for sale. Aloha, Barbara

Aloha, We stayed in this condo for five days and loved it. The condo was nice and clean, the kitchen has all the pots and pans you might need and some spices also. The view is oceanfront with a well maintained lawn downstairs by the grill. Perfect location between Kihei with gorgeous beaches and Lahaina. The traffic was not bad at all. I would stay here anytime. The owner, Barbara, provided all the information we needed, and extra advice also. Thank you for everything. Mahalo,

This is our home away from home for 7 weeks each year. We have stayed in Barbara's condo now for the past 6 years, and have booked our upcoming stays 2 years in advance. We have stayed in other condos and hotels prior to finding this condo and can assure you there is no better value on Maui. Barbara supplies everything you could need for your stay, except your food. The washer and dryer in the condo definitely saves you valuable vacation time and money (no laundromat visits). Plus, the condo is centrally located on the Island. I always have to work while there, so the WIFI makes that possible and the occasional whale watching from the lanai also makes work more enjoyable. The condo is clean and if you have any concerns, Barbara is always reachable by cell and is quick to respond to any issue. We highly recommend this condo to anyone visiting Maui and we’re counting down to our next visit in 2013.

Just returned from spending 5 weeks in the above condo . The discription of the property is right on. The view from the balcony is priceless. Waking up with the sun shinning in your unit really starts your day off the right way. The condo is well furnished and everything you could want is there. We especially enjoyed the small table and chairs for eating our dinner. We called it "The Bistro". Everything is as listed in the discription and then some. Barbara is a treat to deal with. This is our 3rd time staying in one of her condo's and we feel she is a friend now. We had such a great time we have already book for 6 weeks next year.

My mom and I stayed here for 5 days and we loved that it lived up to the pictures - GREAT view of Ma'alaea Bay from the balcony. The condo had everything that we needed - including siverware, dishes, spices, extra blankets, pillows, towels, beach towels, travel guides, maps, binoculars, scuba gear, movies, books... The list goes on and on - Barbara even welcomed us by putting a fresh pineapple and banana bread in the fridge for us. The community was quiet, and whenever we went to the pool, we were the only ones there. Plus there's a great little beach right out in front of the building - great for beach combing and sun bathing. The condo itself is located in between two cities that we really enjoyed - Kihei to the south, and Lahaina to the north. We were right in the middle and toured both cities a couple times during our stay. It was nice to come back to this condo and relax in the sun in the mornings and evenings. Excellent retreat if relaxation is your goal. Highly recommended - we had a fantastic time and felt so comfortable with where we were staying.

Barbara's condo felt like home. We stayed the last week of March and had everything we needed right at our fingertips, (even suntan lotion and shampoo was provided!). We watched the sun rise from the lanai at 6:30 a.m. Sunbathed on the perfectly manicured poolside lawn from 9-11, snorkled & beachcombed right in front of the condo. The Condo was extremely quiet and private and yet very centrally located; about 8 miles from the airport, 8 miles to Kehei &10 miles to Lahaina. Too many nice things to do there, so we hardly had a chance to watch the huge flat screen TV, (but it was there if we so wished). The bed in the bedroom was comfortable and the futon in the living area is comfortable too, (you'll need 2 people to get it into the flat bed position for sleeping). PERFECT Find. I would stay again!

Barbara provides everything you need in the condo. The view is fantastic and the condo is located centrally on the Island, close to wherever you want to go. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo. It was clean and inviting. The view from the deck was stunning. We were only a short walk to the boats, which we went on for a snorkel cruise, and to shopping and restaurant. We would definitely stay there again.

Excellent location! Owner very helpful and personable. Unit was not as expected from pictures. Overall pretty beat-up condition. Had to buy a skillet because the one there was a 'rocker-bottom'. Too much stuff in every available space and not enough room for groceries, etc. in the kitchen. Ditto, the bedroom closet - not enough room. No comfortable place to sit in the living room area. I'm sorry but because of the shabby condition of the unit, we will not be back.
Owner response:I am so sorry our condo did not meet the expectations of this guest and wished I would have known of their unhappiness while they were there so i could have tried to better their stay. Although every review (over 40) have raved about this condo there's always room for improvement. I've already tried to condense items in the kitchen to make way for more groceries if needed. The bedroom closet houses the beach equipment since we cannot store it on the lanai because of condo rules, however that also has been addressed. I've even bought a new chair for the living room. I just spend $300 last year on all new pots and pans that have a multi-year guarantee and will seek out the 'rocker bottom' to return to the manufacturer. I don't understand the pictures comment as the pictures on the website are the exact pictures of the condo. As I mentioned, there's always room for improvement with everything and I will always strive for excellence with my guests.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the condo for 6 days -- it felt like our home away from home! First of all, the condo is in a great spot on Maui and it was fully equipped with everything we needed. The view was breathtaking -- we enjoyed cooking many meals in the kitchen and eating on the lanai. The area was very peaceful and quiet. The beach area the condo sits on is not suitable for swimming and it's a little rocky. However, there are plenty of beaches on Maui to explore! The price of the condo was comparable to hotels, as well. We loved every minute of our Maui vacation -- we didn't want to come home! Next time we visit we will definitely be staying here again!

My husband and I stayed in this condo in early December and loved it. It is comfortably furnished and very clean. The material that was sent to us ahead of time was very helpful as it included information about what was provided, which is everything we needed for our holiday including beach towels and chairs. The first class restaurant on the first floor of the building was a real plus as were the variety of other restaurants within easy walking distance. I think the thing we liked most was being right on the ocean and yet away from the hustle and bustle of the resort areas so it was quiet and relaxing. Barbara had a pineapple and homemade banana bread on the counter to welcome us. Thanks, Barbara! We'll be back!

I received this comment by email from Robert Young. Hello Barbara My name is Robert Young. I'm not sure if you remember me, but we spoke last month and I booked your condo in Maui from October 24 to October 31. I don't normally send feedback to companies or people I do business with, but I felt compelled to do so in this case. My wife and I enjoyed your condo immensely!! Not only did we enjoy your condo, but the condo complex and in particular dealing with you. From the moment we started communicating about the availability of your condo, you were able to make me feel at ease. I'm a first time VRBO user and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The only downside is you've set the bar high for my expectations in dealing with other people renting out their properties going forward. It takes special skill to make a person feel comfortable enough to do business over the Internet, in a different country, thousands of miles away. You have those skills and more. Your emails addressed every question I had. The supporting documents you sent after payment were fantastic! The directions were easy to follow. The commentary of what is around the area were very helpful. You were able to eliminate any questions we could have had and let us focus on enjoying our vacation. The views from the balcony are breathtaking. Your condo is more than just a unit filled with furniture and a few basic pots, pans and dinner ware. It's a home! The amenities such as the Road to Hanna CD, the cooler, beach towels and umbrellas for the beach were very welcomed. Providing items such as spices, margarine, foil for the bbq and other basic kitchen amenities allowed us only to focus on purchasing food and drink. We swam in the pool everyday and didn't have to share it with anyone. In fact there was never anyone on the pool deck at all. Also the residents of the complex were very friendly and helpful. All in all, you have put together a great package that extends beyond just the condo. The home your provided is better than any hotel room and was a welcomed refuge to come to each day after doing touristy things and enjoying the island. Everyone travels differently, but my wife and I will always remember your condo, the condo complex, the location and all the finishing touches you provided. Great job and thanks for a wonderful stay! Feel free to use any of this content for your VRBO posting. Warm regards, Robert Young

This condo was a great find. It is perfect for 2 or 3 people. I slept on the futon in the living room and my mom slept in the bedroom. It was a very comfortable place with a large lanai. It was very quiet and the location can't be beat. You MUST check out the Maui Ocean Center when you are here. I loved the open feeling of the kitchen and living room. Wow! Barbara and Chris you have a great place and all the amenities we needed. This was our second trip to Maui, and our second stay in Unit 304. The best part of our trip was watching the whales right from the lanai, no matter what time of day the whales gave us a great show. What a great winter getaway. We hope to come back soon! We were in unit 304 from July 16 thru September 1, 2008. We wanted to get out of the Phoenix heat and change our routines. Very good decision. We have been to Maui 3-4 times before. This is a great area. Would recommend. We loved Barb's unit and really enjoyed the ocean view and sound. We ate out once a day. We rented a car for 25 of the 45 days and rode the bus 10 days. The bus was great. We did Hana twice and the crater trip twice. We liked Buzz's and Mama's and eating at the nicer hotel/golf courses in Wailea. The Waterfront is OK but we do not care for fish much and feel this place is overrated. Would recommend going to Lani'a if you like nice places. If you like extreme casual don't go to Lani'a or Wailea, it is upscale and pricey but we loved 'em. Why not enjoy your vacation. The Maui ocean aquarian is very nice. We rented a week pass and went several times. We saw every part of Maui before and this trip. For us this is a great location and place to stay. Whatever. Joe and Sandy Martin

We returned last week from our honeymoon in Maui and had a wonderful time making this condo our home for the week! It rained most days we were there but we still enjoyed every moment of our stay. The condo was stocked with everything we needed... all we had to supply was our own food and drink. Amazing view right on the ocean and we loved the location. Quiet and secluded and only about a 25 minute drive to Lahaina or Kihei.

We stayed in this great condo from 8/12 -8/19. We loved how quiet it was, the great sunrises, sunsets, and the nice, constant breeze blowing through. We used the cooler and beach chairs just about everyday. The kitchen truly had everything we could need. We cooked in the unit most nights and packed our lunch each day. Some of the things we did that future guests should not miss out on - snorkeling - just about anywhere, the Road to Hana, and the sunrise at Haleakala. The Old Lahaina Luau was great, as was walking around Lahaina. This condo was very centrally located - couldn't be any better. We hope to make it back to Maui sometime in the not too distant future - with the kids this time - and we will definately try to stay here again!

We spent an absolutely lovely week here in July 2007. Loved listening to the waves at night (could be heard from all over the condo). Great location, fairly centrally located which makes it easy to see all parts of the island. Got lots of use out of the boogie board, wonderful to not to have to buy or rent one. Appreciated the recycling in the parking area. Will definitely consider staying here again if we are ever lucky enough to go back!! Mahalo!

All of this right outside this wonderful condo. We met the man who owns/runs Aloha Blue at the swimming pool and he gave us a killer deal on a breakfast/lunch/snorkeling boat ride to Turtle Town and Molokini (a highlight of our trip). Anything you needed was at the condo with conviences of washer/dryer and condiments. We definately plan on a return! Thank You for a wonderful stay.

February 20-28/2007 Well, we are home safe and sound [about 4 feet of snow ] and can hardly believe that it’s all over! A few tears were shed as we said goodbye to the full moon out on the lanai. It was so nice having a place that felt like home as we have a lakefront cottage and really do love the water. The whales were an added bonus. Your place is so comfortable and well equipped. You certainly have thought of everything! Your suggestions and instructions were appreciated. The location was great as our friends were staying at Kihei, and the drive to Kahului was so fast. We did all the tourist attractions [Hana Road, Crater, Kahekili Highway, Ocean centre, etc.] so did not spend as much time relaxing as we would have liked but were afraid to miss anything in case we never came back.We attended the “Old Lahaina Luau” and it was absolutely first-class all the way! Mostly, we were overwhelmed by the friendliness of the people of Hawaii and this includes you. We were always made to feel that we were special. Mahalo from the bottom of our hearts! We stayed in this condo from January 11, 2006, through to February 18, 2006. The condo location was absolutely wonderful - directly on the water with an amazing view. The area is so quiet and peaceful - everything we look for in a vacation property. The condo was very nicely equipped and had all the necessities we needed. We had the opportunity to meet with Barbara and Chris and found them to be very nice people. They made the process of renting extremely easy and gave us great information and details so we knew exactly what to expect. Barbara and Chris, We made an excellent choice when we chose your condo for our 10 days on Maui. (12/04 -- 12/14/2006) Being centrally located it was perfect for us. There are so many things to do. We played golf, took a helicopter island tour, drove the road to Hana, went to Haleakala, took a whale watching boat from Maalaea Harbor, spent some time in Lahaina, saw Ulalena, (it is wonderful). We also went to Iao Valley, watched windsurfing, etc. We had never stayed in a condo as completely furnished as yours. There was even nail polish remover. Thank you so much, if we go back to Maui we will centainly try to stay in your condo. Kay and Jim Knoxville, TN

We returned to Hawaii after ten years thinking Maui was our least favorite Island. After staying at this condo, we have moved it to our favorite. Ma'alaea is the prime location in our opinion. It is right in the middle of the Island and it is a relatively short drive to whereever you want to go.It is delightfully quiet and a true haven in which to start your day , return to at night, or just relax and stay put- anyway you use it, it is perfect. The owners have thought of everything- the apartmnent and lanai are tastefully decorated. We were astounded by the books, CD's, DVDs and tapes( both eduational and entertaining), the completely equipped kitchen, and all the extras- boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, towels, paper products, spices, etc.The washer and dryer right in the unit are great too. The ceiling fans and the natural breezes in the area kept us cool and comfortable. The lanai is completely private and equipped to dine or relax ( table, chairs, lounge) The sunrises were fabulous, we watched surfers, and two mornings enjoyed sea turtles surfacing right below us.There is even wireless internet - fast and efficient! We would recommend this apartment without any reservations at all- we plan to return and stay longer! As for Maui activities- we did Blue Water Sea Cave and Molokini Raft trip, went to Waimea Canyon, drove up Haleakala,( we had done the bikes on our last visit)snorkeled at several locations, spent an afternoon in Lahaina, and went to the Old Lahaina Luau our last night. All of these activities were wonderful- please feel free to contact us about the condo or anything else we could help you with. Barabara and Chris's place is a true slice of Paradise!

Your thoughtfulness and attention to detail made us so comfortable.Highlights on Island—Blue Water rafting (adventure snorkel) Ahihi Bay (beautiful snorkel) The old Lahania Luau for our last night (class act, well run) AND, the best of all, sitting on the lanai every morning and evening. This comment was in our guestbook in the condo--Aloha!Mahalo for the use of your awesome condo. We loved being so centrally located to everything! The road to Hana was great—skip all the touristy spots—they’re a waste of time. Turn left at mile 25 for a great picnic spot, and most certainly take the Z mile hike to Bamboo Falls at the Swan Park. The hike is long, but so worth the sight. We also loved the Kula lavender farm. Went shopping in Wailea and breakfast at the Gazia Restaurant in Napoli. Our views from the lanai are not to be forgotten. Sunrises are amazing and the sound of the surf is intoxicating. We could not have planned a more peaceful and restful Mother & Daughter getaway!. Mahalo!

Wow, what a fun time in Maui. The condo really was awesome. Stopped at the COSTCO got some provisions (don't forget to get a couple Maui Gold Pinapple's) and headed to the Condo. The condo is perfect! Great Breeze that runs through, enjoyed early mornings and evenings on the launi. They have really made this condo close to the comfort of home. Very cool tropical theme/colors with new paint job. There was not a thing that i needed to buy (except food). There were Ice chests and mats and all the little things that might be missing. Ma'alaea is alot nicer than the tourist books give it credit for. For one thing, you are right in the middle of everything!! quick trip to Lahaina, quick trip to Wailea, quick trip to the Hana Highway, quick trip to the airport!! And return home away from the crowds at the resorts. what more could you ask for. The Four Winds II goes to Molokini a few steps from your door. There is a cool little mall where you can get gifts from the Whale Conservation Org. and a little icecream (Hula cookies & Ice cream) shop (try their cookie sandwich on a hot day). The Waterfront Restaraunt is one of the islands best and it is located on the first floor of the condo building. I hate to admit but, I had a different fresh fish dinner every night on returning to the condo. it is a bit expensive and I saw a negative review from one of the couples that stayed at the condo but, I thought the fresh fish was awesome! Here's what 'Maui Revealed' says: "The food here is superb and the flavor combinations well-conceived." Couldn't agree more!! What else to say... Maui is a beautiful island and lotsa fun to be had so, call up Chris and Barbara, reserve your time in their wonderful condo and have a blast!!!!

We've just returned from paradise, & stayed 5 nites at this condo while on Maui. Enjoyed EVERY minute of our stay, it was just like coming 'home'. Condo owners have provided everything you could want/need while staying there. We cooked in several times, even found seasonings & spices to use- nice! The view is FANTASTIC,(closer to water than we imagined)& the sound of the ocean waves soon soothes away any stress you have. We spent many a late nite sitting on the great lanai, (& early mornings watching the sun come up- BEAUTIFUL!) just absorbing the lovely breeze & ocean sounds. HATED to leave & can not wait to stay there again!! It's located in a nice quiet area, & centrally located, so it's easy to hop on the highway & find your way to any of Maui's sites. Barb was a pleasure to deal with- THANKS for letting us stay in your lovely condo! Aloha, Jane & Roger

Spent 11 nights in this great condo in March and had a wonderful time. It was still whale season so we were able to watch them right from the lanai. We walked down the beach one afternoon and there were a mama & baby swimming along and baby was practicing his/her breach & tail slap techniques--repeatedly. Quite a sight. The condo is well furnished, including a washer/dryer. We ended up sleeping to the tune of the ocean on the living room futon/sofa. Slept like a baby. Condo is well situated for all activities on the island. Close to Kehei, Lahaina and Kahului. Took 2 whale watch tours thru the Pacific Whale Foundation which is just down the street. Barbara is a great "landlady" and easy to work with. Envy her condo big time.

We had a wonderful stay in this condo. It was everything promised but more. The view from the lanai was superb and felt very private. Maalea would be my first choice in areas to stay since it is neutrally located and much quieter than the other areas in Maui. Barb was also very helpful. We would definately recommend this condo. Email if you have any questions.

We were actually on a layover to Kauai when we stayed for 2 nights at this terrific condo. We've stayed several times in Kihei in the past, and by far this condo has a superior location for getting around the island. (Especially if you're only there for 2 days.) The condo itself is nicely furnished, and had everything my family (2 adults 2 children(ages 6&9)needed. I intend to see if this unit is available in the future if I have the opportunity to go back to Maui. Definitely a terrific value for the location and amenities, plus the owner is very accomodating and helpful. Thanks Barb!!

Having spent 5 weeks at the condo, I can say that it was a beautiful experience. The views were excellent and the condo is midway to anywhere you want to go. Barbara was very helpful and made us feel welcomed. I would definitely stay here again. The price was more than reasonable for everything the condo offered.

My husband and I stayed here for a week and it was magical. The view is everything and more you can dream about. We used to spend hours in the living room - enjoying the view and listening to the lapping waves... This is a great condo, with all the requisite facilites for a carefree stay at Maui!

It was a wonderful time for me and my family, even it is usually hard to impress me (I am very picky). The view from the launai was so beautiful that we ate only a few times out. I strongly recommend this condo to everyone who wants to touch and be in touch with the ocean. We spent 3 weeks in this condo, and I think it was not enough.

Barbara, You were so right about the spectacular view from the balcony! The lights from Kihei just across the Bay twinkled through the fronds of the palm trees. We would turn out the lights in the living room and listen to the gentle music of the waves just beyond the BBQ area and pool just below. It was so relaxing! Yes, we would recommend your unit to anyone wanting a restful, romantic vacation! Thank you so much, David and Barbara Corbin.

This is a great oceanfront condo with sunrise views over the water from the lanai. It gets a strong ocean breeze and tidal noises (which I love sleeping to - I slept everynight on the futon with the lanai door open). The location is removed from the tourist mad areas of Maui, and is at the intersections of two major "highways" - so it is ideal as a base of exploration of the island. The owners are fabulously helpful, making booking and payment a breeze; additionally, they keep the condo equipped with lots of useful island gear - coolers, flippers, boogie boards, beach chairs, etc... we used everything; made our trip great :) Thanks again Barb! Mitch
