*** This spacious, full-floor Penthouse unit will take your breath away! With walls of huge windows and two balconies yielding light-filled, panoramic Bay and City views all around, it’s the perfect base for the romantic San Francisco getaway of a lifetime.

*** Located atop a quaint old Edwardian Era building in North Beach, San Francisco’s most desirable tourist destination, you can walk out the door into the heart of fabled San Francisco life. You’re just steps from the many cafes, pubs, Washington Square Park, Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, Italian trattorias and Beat era bookstores and haunts.

*** Yet you’ll remain above it all - the penthouse is disarmingly quiet and private, a world away from any street noise. Sounds you will hear include the clang of the Cable Car bells as the ancient cars crest the hill at Mason Street and the occasional squawking from the legendary flock of the "Parrots of Telegraph Hill" flying overhead or feeding in the Pyracantha bushes across the street (both visible from the deck).

*** The front balcony opens from the airy, comfortable north facing living area, with multi-million dollar, unobstructed views of the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz, Washington Square Park, St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, Coit Tower, Fisherman’s Wharf, Mount Tamalpais, Angel Island and beyond. You’ll want to linger outside with your morning coffee just watching the scudding clouds roll past and the boats sail by.

*** A firm Simmons Beautyrest queen bed sits next to a wall of south facing windows where a sliding glass door opens onto the huge rear terrace. It features stunning views of Telegraph Hill, Coit Tower, The Bay Bridge, the Trans-America Pyramid, the San Francisco Financial District Skyline and Nob Hill. Equipped with a gas grill, chaise lounges and an umbrella-ed dining table, it’s the perfect place to relax in the sun with a lovely California Chardonnay or grill up a fresh, local seafood delicacy for dinner.

*** The location is easily accessible by auto, bus or Cable Car. Numerous bicycle rental stands are nearby. Taxicabs are plentiful. Valet parking is within a hundred yards of the front door and can be hired to store a car overnight or longer. Indoor City garages are two blocks away. Street parking is by permit only. Half a block from the Powell/Mason Cable Car line, you are never more than a few minutes from the Financial District and shopping at Union Square.

*** This is a walk-up, which means stairs; you'll be two flights up and there is no elevator so please take this into consideration if you have any special access needs.

*** Eclectic art, comfortable furniture, and chic lighting await you, along with a small efficiency kitchenette, which consists of a sink, four complete place settings, a Broiler/Toaster/Convection Oven, an electric Fry Pan, a Microwave Oven, a Braun Coffeemaker, an electric Tea Kettle and a new Kenmore mini refrigerator. For larger meals, utilize the 48,000 BTU Stainless Steel Gas Grill with attached single-burner gas cooktop. Bathroom has a shower and plenty of fresh Bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths.

*** Watch satellite TV through a Directv TIVO receiver .... record your favorite programs to watch on YOUR schedule, after you've finished adventuring.

*** Arrive to find a guest basket with a bottle of wine, chocolate, cheese, crackers, coffee, and seltzer.

*** The total usable area is approximately 800 square feet or 75 square meters. Smoking is allowed on the balconies, but NEVER inside the penthouse. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.

*** We can provide links to useful information, such as where and how to purchase Muni Passports for unlimited rides on all of SF's public transportation including its famed Cable Cars.

  • Wow... what a find. Steve, your "penthouse" is just incredible. For those of you looking for a unique San Francisco experience, this is it. Right in the heart of North Beach, it is just a short walk to Fisherman's Wharf, Coit Tower, Nob Hill, Russian Hill, etc. I even walked into the Financial District a number of times as I had some business to perform. You will be in the center of everything and your view will be... beyond spectacular. Word of warning... this is a third story walkup. The stairs are easy to navigate and less steep than some of the streets nearby, but if you cannot handle stairs, be forewarned; however, if you want a real life San Francisco experience, this will be it. The most surprising thing was how quiet it was. It is set a few blocks off the main North Beach thoroughfare with very little traffic. I can't say more about this place. We will be back!

  • As soon as we entered this lovely penthouse apartment, we were mesmerized by the incredible city views! Our host was great--explained everything we needed to know and provided a great welcome basket. This location was very convenient to restaurants and sights. The cable car stop was 1/2 block away. We hope to return someday and highly recommend this special property.

  • We loved this property! It is hard for a picture to do justice to the view from this apartment. If you like to live like a local, this is the place to do it. Everything is so convenient - 1.5 blocks to great restaurants in North Beach, fresh produce and wine shops a block away, cable car stop very close - we walked everywhere. Owner was very gracious and checked in with us to make sure we didn't need anything. The bed was super comfortable and our 10 year old son was very comfortable on the couch! A fantastic trip...we'll definitely return again to this property.

  • My husband and I spent four nights here in February. I didn't want to leave the penthouse. Coffee on the balcony could last for hours and hours. The trolly is less than a block away. We walked to dinner at a different FABULOUS restaurant every night. The views are breathtaking. You will pinch yourself the whole time you're here.

  • My partner & I just spent our honeymoon here and I can't imagine a more perfect spot! We had a great time hanging out in North Beach, but I would have been content never leaving the apt. Watching the ships sail in out of the harbor or the fog rolling in around Alcatraz was mesmerizing. Can't stay enough about this place and Steve was great....we can't wait to rent here again!

  • we loved the penthouse. the views were awesome. we enjoyed the basket of goodies. the penthouse itself was really nice. you could walk everywhere within 10 minutes. i would recommend your place to anyone going to san fran. thanks for having us, and we will be back to visit san francisco and stay at your penthouse again.

  • We had such a fun time in San Francisco and staying at this place made it even better! We were within walking distance of many great restaraunts and the play "Beach Blanket Babylon", the wharf etc. Steve showed us how to get around easily. We bought a muni pass and just walked a half block to the cable car down to Trader Joes for grocery neccities so we could have our breakfast and coffee on the deck. The views are breathtaking all around the penthouse! The bed is also very comfy and we could come home for a rest in the afternoon on the chaises out on the deck to get geared up for dinner! We will be back for sure, we didn't get to see it all! If you go do the Alkatraz tour take the last one of the day, that one lasts about 2 hours and is very interesting!! Thanks so much to Steve for allowing people to stay in that great place!!
