This property has been in our family for over 130 years. James Jackson Parker (J.J. Parker) married Miley Narcissa Reeves on May 15, 1879. They established a home in Lower Hominy Township #1, Buncombe County, off Brevard Road, which they named “Rocky Ridge”.
On May 31, 1955, William Porter Parker (a son of James Virgil Parker and great-grandson of James Jackson (J.J.) Parker), acquired “Rocky Ridge” from his father (James Vigil Parker). William Porter Parker built the present house and lived on the property until his death in October 1991 at which time his three children (great-great grandchildren of J.J. Parker) inherited the property.
On October 30, 1999, we (Katherine, Gary and Roberta - your hosts) began remodeling our childhood home. A lot of time and love has gone into making our house a “home away from home” for visitors. We hope you enjoy your time with us as much as we have enjoyed the life experiences we have shared here. We also hope that you will be able to know the same peace and tranquility that we feel when you come to “Rocky Ridge.”
Rocky Ridge Retreat is perfect for newlyweds, retirees, or the small family on a budget. Spend your vacation enjoying all that Asheville and the surrounding areas have to offer. No matter whether you are coming for the cool summer breeze, the brilliant colors in the fall, to enjoy one of the arts and music festival, skiing, or just to get away for a relaxing weekend, you will find Rocky Ridge Retreat close to (or within a short driving distance) to wherever you want to be.

We have stayed in many homes and condos on our travels and this one is at the top of the list. What a nice stay. The house was cozy, warm, clean and extremely well furnished. We were surprised at all that was provided. Thanks for a nice Christmas.

This is a perfect house to rent while staying in Asheville. It's very comfortable, roomy, and nicely decorated. It has a great lot and deck with it in order to enjoy the outdoors. Also it is close to everything you might need or want to see in Asheville. It's ideal for two or up to six. My wife and I have stayed there twice. We wouldn't consider any place else.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, people with disabilities, families with young children, romantic getaway.

The owners did a very nice Restoration on the family home. We saw all the sites and ate at all the the best places. But the best part of the trip was setting and the front pourch in the evening. Thank You

Had a wonderful week in July at this beautiful peaceful house. Very quiet though not remote. Ashville is a lovely place to visit - lots to see and do. Would recommend the house to anyone who wants a comfortable relaxing holiday. We hope to return.

This home was the perfect place for a small reunion with our family from Atlanta. Easy access to downtown Asheville, Black Mountain, etc. Everything we needed was provided and the house was clean and well-maintained. We hope to return someday.

This home is an absolute "Dream Cottage". It is tucked away in a little cove and yet near everything. It is immaculate and they have everything you could possibly need to cook your own meals. It's a steal!!! Great owners too!
