This property has been in our family for over 125 years. James Jackson Parker (J.J. Parker) married Miley Narcissa Reeves on May 15, 1879. They established a home in Lower Hominy Township #1, Buncombe County, off Brevard Road, which they named “Rocky Ridge”.
On May 31, 1955, William Porter Parker (a son of James Virgil Parker and great-grandson of James Jackson (J.J.) Parker), acquired “Rocky Ridge” from his father (James Vigil Parker). William Porter Parker built the present house and lived on the property until his death in October 1991 at which time his three children (great-great grandchildren of J.J. Parker) inherited the property.
On October 30, 1999, we (Katherine, Gary and Roberta - your hosts) began remodeling our childhood home. A lot of time and love has gone into making our house a “home away from home” for visitors. We hope you enjoy your time with us as much as we have enjoyed the life experiences we have shared here. We also hope that you will be able to know the same peace and tranquility that we feel when you come to “Rocky Ridge.”
