Boothbay house description
The house and cabin (both beautiful and built by local craftsman using preserved wood and beams from an antigue local barn) are on a spectacularly beautiful and private eight acre peninsula of Big Knickerbocker Lake. The house, with three bedrooms(1 king, 2 queens), a sleeping loft area (2 twins), two full baths, two fireplaces and a great wrap-around deck (partially screened in), sits on the ledge overlooking the two Knickerbocker Lakes. The Cabin is on the point, surrounded by the lake, at the water's edge. The wrap around all glass windows, and isolated quiet, make this really speical. There is a dock for great swimming, fishing, and boating. Five kayaks are also available, free of charge.
Boothbay Harbor, the Sheepscot River, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens (128 acres of gardens and trails), and the Boothbay Golf Club are all within a mile. Wiscasset, Damarascotta, and Bath are within a 30-minute drive. Freeport, Brunswick, Rockland, and Camden are within one hour.
Our tenants have returned year after year which attests to how really speical this place is.
A third house is also on the property that can be included if you are looking for a large family reunion, wedding, etc.

About the owner: Three families from the Baltimore area, long time friends, own the property, and love being there. With three houses on the property there is plenty of room to be together, or to find some privacy.
Why the Owner Chose Boothbay:
After vacationing in the mid coast area for several years, I (one of the owners), on a lark one day when my young children were happy to just hang around our rental home, went to a local real estate office to check listings in the area. I specified water front (thinking ocean), and the agent gave me a list of 20 or so houses to drive by. The very first was this property, surprisingly on a lake, and with 3 houses. It really shocked me as to how wonderful it was (especially for the price). I immediately called the agent to check and make sure something wasn't wrong, and to get inside. As luck would have it, there were legal issues that after several years had been cleared just recently, and the property was put back on the market just the day before. I submitted a contract that day, and within two days had an agreement with the holding bank (at a price I knew I could not afford alone, but was a great deal on a property that was so spectacular). Immediately upon returning to Baltimore I approached two close friends and their families, and by just seeing my pictures they agreed to go in with us. For them, and us, it has been a truely fabulous oppotunity that we only wish we could get ot more.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The main house was designed and built by a well known local builder for himself in the 1990's. It sits on the perfect ledge looking right down on both Big and Little Knickerbocker Lakes. The inside is open, with high ceilings and a great large fireplace all built and accented with beams and wood from an antigue Maine barn. The cabin (also built by a local Maine craftsman), sits right on the water's edge at the secluded point of our land. Beautiful inside, it has unigue large wrap around windows that allow for completely open views of the lake that surrounds the point.
