Donna & I purchased this property in early January and promptly gutted the interior to start from scratch. We put studs on the exterior walls, insulation, new wiring, plumbing, windows, skylights, appliances and heat. The tiled propane fireplace is thermostatically controlled to take the chill off the morning air and warm the cottage only if needed. With the paint barely dry, we furnished the cottage as we would love any vacation cottage to be: new furniture & mattresses(!)plus puzzles and books along with the appropriate kitchen amenities to bake a summer birthday cake! West Island is a jewel: the neighbors are friendly (many have come to introduce themselves and compliment us on the renovations)and the island association runs events from chowder fests to pancake breakfasts to foster community. We are thrilled with our new cottage, and hope you'll come stay on the island this summer!
