Absolutely gorgeous, historic Victorian(1891)cottage on Grindstone Neck previously owned by the Harper publishing family and located on more than three wooded acres along the Maine coast overlooking Frenchman's Bay with a view of Mt. Desert Island to die for!
The view is seen from most rooms in the house through enormous bay windows as well as the stone terrace which offers a perfect spot for outdoor dining and cocktails while watching the sun slip behind Mt. Cadillac.
If the weather turns cold, there are numerous fireplaces including a dramatic ten-foot stone fireplace in the central living area and comfy couches on which to curl up with a good book. There is a music room with a baby grand piano and a collection of antique books in the large living room.
The house sleeps twelve comfortably, but guests can take advantage of the two daybeds for a total of 14.
The huge eat-in kitchen is fully equipped with all the modern appliances and you should be able to serve a large group without any hitches.
Also on the grounds is an Italian walled garden (to which you have "picking privileges"), a treehouse, and a garage. The house is fully equipped with everything that you'll need including a TV/VCR, numerous telephones, an answering machine and a fax machine. There are several bicycles that you are welcome to use.
Access to nine-hole golf course, playground, and walking trails and Acadia National Park.
No smoking and no pets, please.
