Castle Guest House - Perfect house for 2 couples

Guest: Dave (Pittsburgh, PA)
Date of Stay: 10/30/10 Review Submitted: 08/28/11

We are 2 couples ages 55+. We spent 2 weeks at the guest house in November 2010. The website accurately describes the property. It was clean, well maintained and nicely furnished. Jim the owner is very helpful. He really wants to make sure that you enjoy your vacation. We enjoyed the views and breezes on the ocean front patio. We are scuba divers and Jim recommended Ocean Frontiers which are almost next door to the villa. They were incredible and I would highly recommend them. You will need a car because the villa is located on the east end of the island and it is about a 45 minute drive to the more popular beaches. This did not bother us because we enjoyed the solitude of the villa and it does have its own very nice beach. Expect to experience price shock at the liquor stores but that being said you will have a great time.

It was the first time we had come the to Caymans and not been in all inclusive hotel - and we loved it! It was so nice after a day out to come back and relax in the garden, the addition of the privacy wall will be welcome as we did feel a little overlooked but the people next door were very friendly. The property was very well equiped but from a ladies point of view needs just a few more bowls in the kitchen as we loved the place so much we ate in and cooked lots. It was a very comfortable place, well appointed, and would have no problems recommending it to prospective guests, We do in fact, hope to return at some point in the next year or two. The beds were very comfortable and it was nice to have the two en-suite bathrooms. Again from a ladies point of view, a little more hanging space would be welcome. There were plenty of places to eat out but we tended to go back to Sunset House, being there for the diving - the curry was brilliant! Over The Edge lived up to it's name too.

Great relaxing stay for scuba on the east end

Guest: matt (Virginia)
Date of Stay: 01/07/10 Review Submitted: 08/23/11

My wife and I took a parents only 10 day trip in January 2010. This home was perfect for us, and since nobody was at the larger Castle on the property, we were allowed to swim in the great heated pool and use its sun decks. The waves are 300+ yards from shore, a neat little whisper during the day. We took the suggestion on cooks for hire, and had them come early in our stay - leftovers lasted for a while. Can't miss the scuba shop a quick 10 minute walk away either... nice to walk there along your private beach. We will return, want to bring the kids and friends to fill up this house and the big Castle!

As we had never seen the Castle Guesthouse in person, we had to rely on pictures to make a decision to stay at the Guesthouse. Understandably, we were all a little nervous that the property would not live up to the idyllic scenes shown in those pictures. Well, we were wrong. In fact, seeing it in person, I can state unequivocally that the pictures do not do it justice! It is simply one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen (and now, thankfully been). Driving toward the property from the airport (about an hour drive), we were all eagerly waiting to see the property pop up on the right. As soon as I saw Compass Point Dive Resort, I knew we were very close. Sure enough, a few seconds later, there it was. The Castle is the first thing you see, and it will (and did for us) take your breath away. We pulled into the driveway for the Guesthouse and quickly went inside. The view of the pool and the sea, even through the double sliding doors, is so incredible that words can simply not describe it. Going outside immediately, we quickly noticed the covered (and quite large) patio with two chaise lounges and a nice redwood table with four chairs. The landscaping is fantastic and perfectly maintained. Walking out along the pool edge, the ground dropped about ten feet to the shore. Make sure that you watch your kids here; it’s very tempting to walk out there and it would be a nasty fall. Technically, there isn’t “a beach” there, just limestone rock and it isn’t accessible (more on that later). You can see the Castle about 80 feet away. Back inside the Guesthouse, we started exploring inside. A nice sectional sofa that holds four or five comfortably and a flat screen TV with Dish Network and a DVD player. The kitchen is very well-equipped with pots and pans, utensils, cups and glasses, etc. Pretty much everything you need. Of course, a nice stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher and range. We ate in about 50% of the time. Quick note: there is a Fosters IGA Express about five minutes north across the street (on the left) from Morritt’s Tortuga Club. This is a smaller version of the other Fosters on the island. It has everything that you’ll need, but note that it (and all other grocery stores) are closed on Sundays. So, if you arrive on Saturday like we did, you will need to go that night to get a few things like shampoo, soap, milk and so on.
